CATEGORY: Neuropsychological test

OBJECTIVE: Identify patients with neurological impairment.

APPLICATION: Individual.

AGE: From 15 years old onwards.


TIME: Between 90 to 150 minutes.

MATERIAL: Application and scales manual, application booklet, correction


templates and scales, test materials.

SCOPE: Neuropsychological, clinical, educational and research.


The BNL-N consists of 269 items, distributed in 11
scales and 14 scores.
SCALES
1. MOTOR FUNCTIONS:

Evaluates simple motor movements with the hands, mouth and tongue;
also simple coordination skills, optical spatial organization, complex
sequence of behavior and drawing ability .

2. ACOUSTIC-MOTOR FUNCTIONS:

Assesses the ability to differentiate between different tones and rhythms


of sound

3. Cutaneous and Kinesthetic Functions:

Complex tasks of cutaneous, muscular, articulatory sensations and


stereognosis.

4. Visual Features:

Evaluates visual-spatial perception through the identification of objects


and drawings; It also evaluates special direction and guidance and
intellectual operations in space.

5. RECEPTIVE LANGUAGE:

It evaluates discrimination and reproduction of basic speech sounds,


identification of familiar objects in a series of drawings, and
understanding of logical grammatical structures.

6. EXPRESSIVE LANGUAGE:

Evaluates articulation of speech sounds, varying words and sentences in


length and complexity. Name, classify and generate narrative
descriptions of objects.

7. READING

Evaluates the ability to analyze and synthesize, read sounds, words,


phrases and paragraphs.

8. WRITING:

Requires the patient to write letters and words either dictated or copied.

9. ARITHMETIC SKILLS:

Evaluates the identification of Arabic and Roman numbers, identification


of the meaning of the position of the digits, comparison of numerical
quantities, addition, subtraction and multiplication.

10. AMNESIC PROCESSES:

It evaluates the ability to retain and recover visual, acoustic, kinesthetic


and verbal material; learning and logical memory processes are also
evaluated.

11. INTELLECTUAL PROCESSES:

Evaluates the interpretation of pictorial and verbal themes, concept


formation, classification of objects, understanding of analogies and
complex arithmetic relationships, and logical reasoning ability
