GUIDING QUESTIONS

1 What safety measures must be followed when disassembling the engine?

.
One of the safety measures that we must establish during engine disassembly is how
one can handle and remove heavy and delicate parts and for this we will have
machines that will help us avoid damage and some types of accidents. In order to
carry out this type of engine disassembly, what we must do first is make sure that
there are no loose cables or parts, we must have the electrical system disconnected
before starting work, keep the area clean, tidy and ventilated; In addition, as
technicians specializing in said work, Personal Protective Equipment must be
implemented. Recommendations for disassembling an engine:
> Disable the battery to avoid damage
> Discard the brake league
> Remove the gear lever
> The exhaust pipe is removed
> Secure the engine anchor points on the test bench
> Check fluid levels before starting the engine after repair.
Place the engine on a sturdy and clean base
Once the separation of each part is completed, it is necessary to place the
pieces in a flat and safe place and then they must be covered with a canvas or
extensive plastic to avoid accidents.

2. What should be done before disassembling the engine distribution system?

What must be done before disassembling the distribution system, we must take into
account is how the belt must be removed from the distribution system in order to
avoid damage. And at the same time, inspect its general condition, if there is presence
of oil, and if there are also contact marks on the belt, the engine must be cold,
determine the change intervals for the belts and other transmission components
(rollers tensioners/reversing, water pump, vibration damper, free pulley, etc.).
Although we know that the distribution system is of utmost importance, the correct
operation of the engine with respect to performance depends on it. As well as opening
and closing of valves and the time they remain open is different for each engine, as is
the type of distribution.

3. What verifications are carried out on the Engine distribution system?

The verifications that we must carry out on the engine distribution system are the
following:
> Verified and checked the condition of the belt.
____> Inspection of the mechanical components of the transmission

Check that the grooves of the pulleys are clean, that there are no remains of
rubber or other materials, or marks.

crankshaft, water pump, etc.

4. What problems does overheating of the engine cause in the Cylinder Head?

The problems that can be caused by overheating of the engine in the cylinder head
vary, due to the high temperatures in the engine, in addition to the deformation of the
cylinder, which can cause excess expansion in the pistons, which could seize in the
pistons. cylinders. Engine overheating can be caused by a lack of coolant, which
weakens the seal between the cylinder head and the engine block.

5. What checks are carried out on the cylinder head?

One of the checks that can be carried out on all cylinders and based on that, an
examination of the internal surface begins, so that there should be no symptoms of
piston seizure (recognizable by bluish tones), scratches, or excessive wear, if If this is
less than 0.15 mm, the repair will be sufficient with grinding.

6. Under what circumstances should the crankshaft be rectified?

As an initiative we know that the crankshaft is one of the most delicate parts of the
engine, it is the fundamental piece to generate energy, then it will be transmitted to the
wheels, thus producing the movement of the vehicle. In order to fulfill its function, the
crankshaft needs to rotate at high speed on several support points. Over time, these
suffer great wear and become deformed, which causes the engine to lose efficiency. It
is at this time that the vehicle's crankshaft must be rectified.

7. What Verifications are carried out on the mobile engine assembly?

Once the crankshaft has been ground, we proceed to check the mobile assembly, we
know that it is responsible for transferring the energy produced during the explosion
of the air-fuel mixture to the transmission through the rotary movement of the
crankshaft. To carry out this verification of the mobile assembly our mission is:
Make the volumetric chamber watertight during the movement of the
piston.
Ensure cylinder lubrication, transmit the heat absorbed by the piston to
the cylinder wall for evacuation.
Special machinery is also required where the piece is well centered and
subsequently grinding the abrasive wheels.
Once finished, another rectification is made to the polishing, in order to
avoid imperfections that could damage other parts of the engine.
