Fatty Liver Diet

FATTY LIVER
AMEEN
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a generally
benign disease characterized by excessive deposition of
fatty acids in liver cells. In patients with NAFLD, who are
usually overweight or obese, a low-calorie diet is
recommended. Calorie restrictions of around 500 kcal
per day are usually sufficient, accompanied by weight
losses of more than 5% to reduce steatosis and 7-10%
to reduce inflammation. The most recommended diet
profile in terms of its composition would be the
MEDITERRANEAN DIET (50-60% carbohydrates, 20-
30% fats with a high content of monounsaturated and
omega-3 fatty acids, 20% proteins).
