Human Rights

So, what are Human rights?

Human rights are rights inherent to all
human beings. Human rights include the
right to life, liberty and security, the right
to work and education, freedom of
opinion and expression, health, privacy,
and many more.
Everyone is entitled to these rights,
without discrimination.

General Kofi Annan as the UN Special
Representative on Business and Human
Rights

referenced since its endorsement by the

Human Rights at Ahold Delhaize

Our Code of Ethics defines how we apply our shared values to earn the
trust of those we serve. Doing what’s right is about creating a culture of
integrity and good decision-making.
Building on the four ethical principles, Ahold Delhaize published a
Position on Human Rights in 2017, formalizing our commitment to
respecting human rights based on our belief that all people should be
treated with dignity and respect.
Our Human Rights report, published in 2020, outlines our most salient
issues globally to focus our work – in our own operations, communities
and supply chains – and drive a positive impact.

Salient human rights issues are those

human rights that stand out because
they are:
inherently at risk,
based on the likelihood and the
potential severity of their negative
impact on people,
through our activities or business
relationships.

Doing what’s right, for everyone, includes…

•… how you personally contribute to a diverse and
inclusive workplace;
•… what you do to keep yourself and your colleagues
and customers safe and healthy during a global
pandemic;
•… considering the impacts of sourcing decisions and
your interactions with suppliers on the people
working in our supply chains;
•… taking precautions to protect the privacy of
associates and customers,
•… and many more practical examples.

The right way, every day.
