1- What is masonry construction?

The consctruction of masonry wall is the stage in which survey of a property begins.

2- What are the operations for the construction of masonry wall?

The operations are:

 First – bring the alignment material close to the location where the alignment will be
carried out;
 Second- wet the alignment site if it a ground or floor before doing the alignment;
 Third – plumb and level the blocks at the ends of the wall to be raised;
 Fourth- stretch the alignment thread;
 Fifth – put the Mortar on the wet floor and proced with the alignment;
 Sixth – fill the joints and remove the mortar that comes out from the sides and under the
blocks
3- Under what conditions can be stonemason work?

The stonemason will be subject to working in uncomfortable positons, at heights (depending on


the location where they will be carring out the activity, will be subject to handling heavy loads,
subject to physical risks (falling material, scaffoldings),

4- What should the technical know to be able to cary out this activity?

The technical must know how to indentify the types of masonry;

The technical must be able to interpret correctly the architectural project;

Must know the tecniques on how to align the blocks;

Be proficient in handling tool such as: bubble level, hose level, trowel, clow hummer, plumb
line, chisel.

This activity is important becouse gives the aesthetic to the building, acoustic isolation, thermal
comfort
