My Teaching Philosophy Statement

As a teacher, my main goal is to inspire a lifelong love for learning in my students by

creating a classroom environment where they feel valued, challenged, and empowered. I aim
to foster critical thinking skills and nurture their curiosity about the English language. I strive
to make learning engaging and relevant by connecting lessons to real-life situations to show
the power and usefulness of the knowledge gathered in and outside of class. My hope is that
students will leave my class feeling curious, capable, and excited about continuing their
educational journey throughout their lives without me.

To facilitate this goal of mine, I employ a variety of teaching strategies tailored to

different learning styles. I incorporate project-based learning to give students real-world
context, enabling them to apply their knowledge in practical and meaningful ways. By
integrating technology, I make lessons more interactive and engaging. I do this by using tools
like educational apps, online resources, and multimedia presentations. Additionally, I
encourage collaborative learning through group projects and discussions to foster
communication and teamwork skills. I also emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving
by presenting open-ended questions and real-life challenges that require creative solutions.
To instill a growth mindset, I provide constructive feedback and celebrate effort and
improvement in order to help students see learning as a continuous never ending process.
Finally, I promote self-directed learning by giving students some choice in their projects and
homework. My goal here is to create an inclusive learning environment where every student
feels motivated to explore and ask questions because that is the best way to encourage
lifelong learning.

In addition to being a guide for my students' academic achievements, I also take the
time to get to know each student individually in order to learn about their interests, strengths,
and weaknesses. This understanding allows me to tailor my instruction to meet their specific
needs. Also, by showing genuine interest in their lives and providing support and
encouragement, I foster a classroom environment where students feel valued and understood.
This trust and connection not only enhance their academic performance but also contribute to
their overall motivation to learn. My goal is to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere
where every student feels confident to express themselves and take risks in their learning
journey. My ultimate goal is to make them fall in love with the art of gathering and using
knowledge.

In my teaching, I employ a mix of direct instruction, collaborative learning, and

inquiry-based approaches. Direct instruction helps me introduce new concepts clearly, while
collaborative learning fosters an environment where students can learn from each other's
perspectives and develop social skills. Finally, with inquiry-based learning, I encourage
students to actively engage with the material to learn to count on themselves rather than wait
for me to explain everything. By utilizing these methods, I aim not only to present the
knowledge but also to instill in students the passion to continue learning and adapting
throughout their lives, promoting a mindset of lifelong learning.

To assess student learning, I focus on capturing not just what they know in the
moment, but also how they've grown over time. I do this by keeping portfolios of my student
work that demonstrate progress over the course of a school year. It includes initial writing
samples compared to later ones, recordings of spoken English at different occasions, and self
reflections. I also use projects, presentations, and discussions, to evaluate their critical
thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and self-directed learning. By encouraging
reflection and self-assessment, I help my students recognize their own progress and develop a
mindset of continuous improvement.

Creating an inclusive environment is a top priority. I ensure that all students feel
respected and valued by celebrating diversity and promoting equity in the classroom. I want
every student to know that they belong and that their differences are celebrated. One way I do
this is by acknowledging and embracing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of my
students. For example, when we get to the unit of “our cultural heritage” from the book
“tickets to English” , I invite students to share stories and traditions from their families. It's
amazing to see how much they enjoy learning from each other and how it helps them feel
connected.

My teaching philosophy has indeed evolved over time through experiences in the
classroom. I have learned the importance of flexibility and adaptability, understanding that
each student and class is unique. Feedback from students and colleagues has also shaped my
approach which has helped me become a more effective teacher. Nevertheless, my journey of
evolving as a teacher is nowhere near over and I'm excited to experience and learn as much as
I can.

Students can expect me to be a dedicated, compassionate, and supportive teacher. I

am committed to their success and will provide the resources and encouragement they need to
thrive. In return, I expect students to be active participants in their learning, to show respect
for themselves and others, and to strive for their best effort.
