MANUAL FOR THE USE OF THE HYGROMETER AND

THERMOMETER

GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Monitor environmental storage conditions or cold chain and working conditions of
supplies and medications in the microenvironment of the dental office.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Control the storage temperature conditions of supplies and medications in the
office between 15° and 25° Celsius to the environment and those in the cold chain
between 2° and 8° Celsius.
- Control the relative humidity storage conditions of supplies and medications in the
office between 60% and 70% (Percentage of water vapor in the air, expressed in %
of total volume).

INSTRUMENTS
- Thermometer (room and refrigerator).
- Hygrometer

DATA REGISTER
FORMATS:
F-SA-69 V3: TEMPERATURE CONTROL – HUMIDITY
For recording the temperature and humidity of the environment of the place,
indicated by the thermometer and the hygrometer or thermo-hygrometer.
- The header of the form is completed at the beginning of the month and the data is
recorded daily two (2) times a day, in the morning and afternoon. The recorded
points are joined by a continuous line, to schematize the behavior of the indicator.
- Before starting to use the temperature and humidity recording format, verify the
proper functioning of the thermo-hygrometer and the thermometer that are
arranged in the area for this purpose.

- Check the temperature at the bottom of the thermohygometer and record it in the
box corresponding to the respective value, according to your work shift and the day
of the month in which the reading is taken.
- Check the relative humidity at the top of the thermohygometer and record it in the
box corresponding to the respective value, according to your work shift and the day
of the month in which the reading is taken.
- If the registration conditions are not within the established ranges, it is necessary
to contact the maintenance staff to verify the proper functioning of the air
conditioning, or humidity conditions of the place for a quick solution while the
problems are resolved.
- In dental offices, the thermo-hygrometer will be located in a strategic place that
allows mainly monitoring the storage environment of the supplies.
REFRIGERATOR TEMPERATURE CONTROL
To record the temperature in the refrigerator that guarantees the cold chain for the
inputs that require this condition.
- The header of the form is completed at the beginning of the month and the data is
recorded daily two (2) times a day, in the morning and afternoon. The recorded
points are joined by a continuous line, to schematize the behavior of the indicator.
- The thermometer allows two measurements to be taken, the internal temperature
of the refrigerator and the external or environmental temperature. Here only the
internal temperature is recorded, which must be between 2° and 8° Centigrade.
- If the record falls outside this range, immediately notify the refrigerator
maintenance manager and take contingency measures while the situation is
resolved.
Compliance with this protocol is mandatory in order to guarantee the chemical
stability of the existing supplies in the dental office.
