RATIONALE OF THE SUBJECT

The Control and Automation Engineer in his professional training requires knowledge of the layout and operation of
alternating current electrical machines in the electromechanical equipment and systems for their start-up, control,
protection and maintenance, without this knowledge, skills and attitudes it is difficult to I could practice this
profession.

The importance of knowing the characteristics of the motor - generator, such as the service factor, operation time
among others, requires extensive and objective knowledge of the existing motors in electrical equipment, machinery
and systems, an example in the control field. and automation, is the universal induction motor of which it is required
to know the starting, operation, control, maintenance and efficiency characteristics in all those applications that are
based on the discernment of its characteristics and properties of alternating current motors.

The background of this subject is: Circuit Theory II, Electronics I, Operational Electronics, Electric Machines I and
Control Theory I.

The consequents of this subject are: Electrical Installations, Control of Electrical Machines and Processes,
Electrical Installations and Control Theory III.

The collateral subjects are: Control Theory II, Electronics II,
