THE EDUCATION REFORMS IN
COLOMBIA FROM 1903 TO 1927
The Law 39 of 1903 marked the beginning of
educational reforms in the first half of the
20th century.
It emphasized the national need for change
and new directions in educating children.
THE 1925 REFORM
In 1925, Colombia introduced a major education reform. This
reform aimed to create new programs and methods based on
the ages and mental development of children. The idea was to
make education more suited to the needs of each age group.
CHANGES IN 1939
In 1939, another important change occurred in Colombian
education. The government introduced the principle of
freedom of religion in schools. This meant that students
could practice any religion they chose.
EQUALITY OF EDUCATION

educational resources in terms
of logistics, personnel, and

IN THE 1950S
Colombia experienced significant changes in its educational system. Here
are the established levels of education during that time:

1. Preschool Education: Comprising at least one mandatory grade.


2. Basic Education: Divided into two cycles:
Primary Basic Education: Consisting of five grades.
Secondary Basic Education: Spanning four grades.
3. Secondary Education: Comprising two grades.
IN 1957, THEORETICAL AND
PRACTICAL TRAINING
The National Learning Service (SENA) is a Colombian institution
focused on providing education and training for work.

Founding:
SENA was founded in 1957. It was created to help improve the
skills of workers and support economic development in
Colombia.
CREATION OF INEM IN 1968
The National Institute for Secondary Education (INEM) was created by President
Carlos Lleras Restrepo in Colombia.

Founding:
Carlos Lleras Restrepo, who was the President of Colombia from 1966 to 1970,
founded INEM in 1968. He wanted to improve education and give more opportunities to
young people.
