Twelve Years of Slavery Questionnaire
Based on a true event that occurred in 1850, 12 Years a Slave is the film adaptation of Solomon
Northup's memoirs. The film stars Solomon, a cultured black musician – a free man – who lives
with his wife and children in New York. After sharing a drink with some strangers, Solomon will
discover that he has been drugged and kidnapped to be sold as a slave in the South, on a
Louisiana plantation. Thus begins a hard journey as a slave on various plantations and a fight to
stay alive and preserve his dignity.
