STARTUP AND OPERATION VERIFICATION FOR
THE METAL DETECTOR Page: 1 of 7
Keeping radios, cell phones, keys and any metallic object more than one meter away
from the detector can interfere with detection.
Under no circumstances should you put your hand or any object other than the
product inside the metal detector and the rejection piston.
1. RESOURCES
1.1 Tools – Materials – Equipment
Verification witnesses:
- Blue (Stainless Steel 3.0mm).
- Yellow (Non-ferrous material 2.0mm).
- Black (1.5mm Ferrous Material).
1.2 Reagents
Does not apply.
1.3 Corrective actions
Corrective actions are executed by the Maintenance department.
2. INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 Turn on the equipment and confirm that the conveyor belt starts rolling.
2.2 Carry out a general check of the equipment, engine, pneumatic system, rejection cylinder, to
verify that everything is in perfect condition.

• Navigation Buttons: These allow you to navigate through the detector's menus and
submenus and are used to increase or decrease numbers, as well as to select characters
and settings in various menus and input screens.
• Enter Button: Press the enter button to select or start one of the detector functions.

• Exit Button: Press the exit button to stop one of the detector functions or to return to
the previous menu screen. Press it several times to return to the main menu.
2.5 Unlocking the panel: To perform this action, you must initially enter the key-shaped icon
highlighted in Figure No. 2. It should be noted that to locate said icon, you must use the
navigation buttons and then press the enter button to enable the selected option.
2.6 Enter the access menu: After entering the access menu, you must select the icon highlighted
in Figure No. 3 and then press the enter button.

2.7 Enter access password: In this menu you must write the access password “SUPE”,
it is important to note that to locate the letters you must use the navigation buttons
and press the enter button to select each letter. Finally, to return, locate the door-
shaped icon, highlighted in Figure No. 4, also by using the navigation buttons and
then press the enter button.
2.8 Product selection menu: To perform this action, you must locate the option
highlighted in Figure No. 5. Once there, to change the product, you must press the
navigation buttons to the left or right.
2.10 Visually verify the correct selection of the type of cheese on the detector screen and then begin to
introduce the product into the device.
2.11 Place the Yellow control (Non-ferrous Material) on the cheese and hold it to the product with a
rubber band (see Figure No. 7).

2.12 Pass the cheese through the metal detector as indicated in figure No. 7. Verify that the equipment is
capable of detecting the gauge or indicator and also ensure that the piston rejection function is
executed correctly.
2.13 Repeat steps 2.12 and 2.13 using the Red and Blue indicator lights.
2.14 If when passing the tokens with the cheeses through the metal detector, they are rejected, the start-up
and verification process ends. Therefore, the normal packaging operation can continue.
2.15 If the detector does not reject the product with any of the three indicators even after having carried
out the calibration procedure, therefore carry out the complete calibration procedure.
2.16 Calibration of X and R noise thresholds. This calibration establishes a monitoring baseline for the
noise detector and must be performed with the belt running and no product present in the detector
head. (see Figure No. 8).
• Press the enter button and a monitor screen will appear. The calibration is complete when the
previous screen reappears showing the calibrated values for the X and R thresholds. Typical
values for these thresholds are as follows. X threshold < 300 and Rthereshold < 100 .
2.17 Full Product Calibration: Full product calibration allows the detector to learn to identify
uncontaminated product and establishes the following basic parameters for the product. Adjustment
of phase angle and detection level. (See Figure No. 9).
• Make sure the conveyor belt is running and passing uncontaminated product through the detector
head.
• Press the Enter button and a monitor screen will appear. During the calibration process, a series of
secondary frequency/gain screens may appear that pause the calibration process while the detector
searches for the optimal frequency/gain setting for the product. When this occurs, press the Enter
button to restart the calibration process. The main product screen appears when the calibration is
complete.
