BU THEMATIC AREA: Climate Change and Natural Resource Management

PROPOSED TITLE:

ALARMA – Bureau Of Fire Protection Centralized Fire Alert System Using Arduino

RATIONALE

Every now and then Bureau of Fire Protection has a minimal resources on getting notified

immediately when certain fire occurred in different establishment here in our country. Due to the

slow response and late notification from the BFP fire casualties and even people loss their lives.

Because of this scenario the researchers decided to build and develop a fire alarm system that

will be triggered using only single click button. This will immediately send data to the BFP fire

alarm system which will allow them to see the exact location of the fire occurrence. And will

immediately deploy the fire unit to the location.

By this innovation BFP will no longer rely on the old method of verifying the location of the

incident and takes time to response in every fire occurrence. This will also limit the casualties

and even save lives.

METHODOLOGY

In this application project, the researchers decided to use Rapid Application Development

(RAD) since phases in this method are needed in developing an application. This study is

descriptive research that employed rapid application development as its development model.

Developmental research, as opposed to simple instructional development, has been defined as the

systematic study of designing, developing, and evaluating instructional programs, processes, and

products that must meet criteria of internal consistency and effectiveness. This involves intensive

collaboration and explanation while solving real-world problems (Heffner, 2011).

In order to conceive, produce, and evaluate the study, the developers employed

descriptive-developmental research, which deals with everything that can be tallied and

researched. Rapid Application Development is a method of creating computer systems that

combine user-driven prototyping, computer-assisted software engineering (CASE) tools and

methodologies, and strict project delivery deadlines into a powerful, tried-and-true recipe for

superior quality and efficiency. RAD dramatically improves the quality of completed systems

while speeding up their construction (Kettemborough, 2012). The rapid application development

technique of prototyping enables the developer to quickly determine the kinds of data and

process models needed to satisfy the application need.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

 To develop a single button trigger device using ARDUINO and send its user data and

location data in the BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection) Fire Alarm System.

 To be able to create a BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection) Fire Alarm System that will gather

all of the data from the ARDUINO device and be able to archive all the data for future

references.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS

- The concern citizen will have a single button keychain.

- This single button keychain will be the trigger to send data such as user data and location

to the Fire Alarm System of BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection)

- This will automatically deploy BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection) unit to the location.
