ANALYSIS OF THE ELEMENTS OF THE LETTER.

A. AUTHOR: Apostle Paul, From First Imprisonment in Rome.

B. RECEIVER: To the Christians of Colossae.

C. OCCASION: Paul wrote the letter to make it known that they should
not be deceived by philosophical and vain subtleties, and not follow
traditions of men that imply worldliness, what is evident is that they
had heresies mixed with pagan occultism, Jewish legalism and
Christian. Paul writes this letter in 61 AD approximately,

GENERAL HISTORICAL CONTEXT.

A. CITY: City located in the SW, Asia Minor. In the days ace of the
apostle Paul, Colossae was in the Roman province of Asia,
although it was part of the ancient region of Phrygia. Currently the
place is uninhabited. It was located near the upper end of the river
valley. or Lico, almost 18 km away. to the ESE. of Laodicea in the
vicinity of present-day Denizli. Cabbage. 4:13.

B. PERSON: Addressed to the church of Colosse.

C. CHURCH: It is possible that Epaphras founded the Church of

Colosse, although it is not really defined who was the founder of
said Church. Colossians 1:7. But what is evident was that he had
proclaimed it in his hometown and had even proclaimed Christ and
from this proclamation the church of Colosse had emerged. Paul
with words and supplications asks God to grant spiritual wisdom to
the church so that they can understand the magnitude of God's
glory. Cabbage. 1:11. The apostle also teaches them the complete
Divinity of God, who in reality is for every Christian. Cabbage. 1:17.
In other letters and epistles of Paul it is not really observed how the
Apostle presents God and our Lord Jesus Christ, and we read the
epistle carefully, the Church has a good doctrine of God in which it
really makes known the Divinity of God.

D. DATE AND PLACE OF COMPOSITION OF THE EPISTLE: In the

Plenitude study Bible it records the date 61 AD and in the
Expositor's Study Bible it tells us the date 64 AD specifically,
