AM CAMPAIGN AGAINST BULLYING “GIVE VIOLENCE A RED CARD”

1. SCHOOL VIOLENCE
It is any form of physical, psychological and sexual violence that occurs between
schoolchildren or between adults and schoolchildren within the educational institution
or on the way to it.

2. SCHOOL HARASSMENT OR BULLYING


It is a type of violence that refers to attacks (physical or psychological) that occur
between schoolchildren intentionally and continuously, such as: harassment, lack of
respect, insults, beatings, among others.

3. WARNING SIGNS IN CASE OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE


- Sad, aggressive or cries for no reason.
- He doesn't want to go to school making excuses.
- He lowers his grades and doesn't do his homework.
- He brings his school supplies broken or claims to lose them.
- Make comments with high sexual content.
- Comes home from school with bruises, scratches, or a torn uniform.

4. STATISTICS
- According to the National Survey of Social Relations - ENARES (INEI, 2015), it has
been reported that 75% of children and adolescents (NNA) have been victims of
violence by another student at school (bullying), at some time. in their life.
- According to the SíseVe web portal of the Ministry of Education (September 2013 -
June 2018), 4,010 incidents of bullying have been reported, which represents 21%
of the total reported cases of school violence (19,157).

5. MOST COMMON REASONS FOR AGGRESSION


- Social: socio-economic differences, religious or political reasons.
- Ethnic: racism, ethnic or cultural origin.
- Sexual: for being male or female.
- Gender identity or sexual orientation: rejection of homosexuals, bisexuals or
because they do not behave in a “masculine” or “feminine” way.
- Personal appearance: clothing, decorations and/or accessories.
- Physical characteristics: height, weight, skin color, shyness, way of speaking, etc.
- Physical and mental disability or illnesses.

6. ACTORS OF SCHOOL BULLYING


Three types of actors participate in bullying: the aggressors, the attacked and the
observers.

- Consequences for the spectator of bullying:


a) Insensitivity to everyday aggressions and no reaction to the suffering of
others.
b) Feelings of anger, helplessness and guilt for not knowing how to help the
victim
c) Valuation of violence as a form of social prestige.

- Prevention strategies for spectators:


a) Encourage their participation in activities promoting good treatment.
b) Promote their collaboration in identifying situations of abuse and reporting
aggressors.
c) Promote their responsibility to communicate and put a stop to these
situations.
d) Emphasize that communicating is not reporting, but rather contributing to
the prevention of violence.
e) Promote conflict resolution capabilities.

- What to do if I am a victim or witness of school violence?


a) Report it to the SíseVe web portal, after filling out the form you will receive
a list of protection establishments, suggestions to avoid a similar incident
and a code to follow up on your case.
b) When you report the case, the care protocol will be activated, where
national specialists will be in charge of providing you with emotional,
physical, legal and technical support.

7. REPORT CASES OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE


- How does it work?
To avoid false accusations, you must have your ID on hand. Don't worry, only the
SíseVe central team will be able to see your data.

- Steps to report:
a) Go to www.siseve.pe
b) Register with ID and generate password.
c) Complete the form with the description of the school violence case.
d) The specialists will monitor the case and take the necessary support
actions so that it does not happen again.

8. CAMPAIGN OBJECTIVE
Identify and raise awareness among witnesses of bullying and empower them so that
they do not normalize the problem and act against it. The final mission of the campaign
is to REPORT cases of school violence on the SíseVe web portal of the Ministry of
Education.
Motto: Give violence a red card.
