2. RATIONALE
The Introduction to Mathematics for Engineering course will allow students to master the precalculus knowledge necessary for the
study of differential and integral calculus and for the beginning of the study of physical phenomena, as a foundation for training in
science and engineering. .
3. SUMILLA
In the Introduction to Mathematics for Engineering course, five learning units are developed; In the first, the study of conics is carried
out, in the second and third unit, the concept of vector and its nomenclatures are developed to operate vector algebra in two and
three dimensions, in the fourth unit, matrices and determinants are studied and finally, in the fifth unit, the concept of function and its
rule of correspondence, domain and range are developed to be able to evaluate and operate the algebra of functions, which allows
us to understand the concept of limit and be able to determine the continuity of a function.
Syllabus:
• The Conics. The Cartesian plane. The straight. Equation. Earring.
• Circumference. Items. Circumference equations. Distance from a point to the circumference.
• Parable. Ordinary, Canonical and General Equation. Graphs with axis parallel to the “x” axis; "and".
• Ellipse. Ordinary, Canonical and General Equation. Graphs with axis parallel to the “x” axis; "and".
• Hyperbola. Ordinary, Canonical and General Equation. Graphs with axis parallel to the “x” axis; "and". Integrative session - Unit 1
• First qualified practice
Syllabus:

6. METHODOLOGY
This course will use an active and participatory methodology that promotes self-learning, student autonomy and collaborative work.
The presentation or visualization of objects in 2 or 3 dimensions will be optimized through the use of various resources.
On the educational platform (virtual learning space), the student will find the study materials organized by weeks; and you must
carry out a series of virtual activities (forums, evaluations, tasks) that will allow you to verify the learning of the topics.
The teacher will involve the students to actively participate, promoting; self-learning, autonomy and collaborative work during the
different moments of the class sessions, to achieve the consensual construction of knowledge. The methodological strategies used
are collaborative learning, teamwork, autonomous work, among others.
7. EVALUATION SYSTEM
The calculation of the final average will be done as follows:
(10%)PC1 + (10%)PC2 + (25%)EXPA + (15%)PC3 + (10%)PA + (30%)EXFI
