Common Rail Injection System Fault Codes
Common Rail Injection System Fault Codes
ISSUE:
Common Rail injection system fault codes
The inclusion of electronics in the automotive field brings great benefits such as
being able to detect errors through fault codes in the different systems and
components that make up a car.
Fault codes or error codes are problems that are recorded in the existing
control modules in the vehicle which are responsible for the electronic
management of different components or systems. In the first instance we
associate them with the check engine light that is on. permanent, however,
these codes cover more than failures in the power train itself.
(mecanicabasica, 2015)
Error codes have been evolving in the same way that new technologies are
implemented in automobiles, in the first vehicles electronic management was limited
to the fuel injection itself, this allowed the number of error codes to be a few
dozen. .
Currently, the codes are displayed in alphanumeric figures that logically involve
letters with numbers to represent the different failures that can occur in the
operation of the various systems that we find in automobiles.
A current code is made up of a letter and 4 numbers that identify the system, the
origin is generic or from the manufacturer, the subsystem and the specific item with
the failure.
Some error codes can be registered in the control module without the need for the
fault indicator light to turn on permanently, other codes could cause it immediately,
in this way in both originals and generics we can find stored codes and pending
codes , the earrings do not immediately activate the fault light, however, these could
become stored by turning on the light permanently.
