HAPTOGLOBIN

• Haptoglobin is a protein produced by the liver that

binds to a type of hemoglobin.
• Hemoglobin is a protein in red blood cells that
carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the
body. Most hemoglobin is in red blood cells, but
there are small amounts in the circulation.
Haptoglobin binds to hemoglobin in the blood.
