“Creative Crochet Workshop”

The main objective of the workshop is for students to learn to knit and recognize the

main crochet stitches and the different supports in which this artisanal technique can be

developed. We will learn to read the most traditional diagrams but we will also

experiment with letting our needles fly and knitting our own shapes.

The idea is that each student explores the materials and develops a personal project

that, together with the teachers, they will work on throughout the course. At the end of

the four meetings, each one will take the finished product(s) along with a sample of

points and support material for future reference. We want students to experiment, play

and be encouraged to create.

Theoretical Part:

Through the classes we will explore the technique not only in its most traditional use but
also in its great artistic scope. Through images and exhibition of works by various
artists, designers and knitters, we will be introduced to the different and varied uses of
crochet: decoration, clothing, accessories and urban interventions.

Practical part:

Introduction to crochet – Different types of needles and thicknesses. Traditional knitting

materials. New supports, modern and experimental fabrics.

Introduction to the basic points. Appearances, characteristics and practice thereof.

Experimentation with each point in order to become familiar with each of them.

Making a sample of points. Variants and traditional applications. Examples of products

that we can develop with what we learned.
Flat and tubular rectangular and circular fabrics: vessels, individual pots, baskets, mats,

potholders and more. Decrease and increase.

Finishes and details. Accessories and appliques. Union of parts.

Reading diagrams. Practice with examples from books and magazines.

Development of a personal project. Choice of designs, colors, materials to use and

measurements. Start-up of the project.

Completion of the workshop with finished products and ideas for new projects that they

can continue working on at home!

The final cost of the workshop per month (4 classes of 2 hours each) is $500. It includes

all the materials to work on in the first two classes + a theoretical note with information

of interest: from material suppliers to the best pages of interest on this technique.

If a student chooses a personal project with large dimensions, a small plus will

be added to the extra cost of the materials used or, on the contrary, they can

bring their own.

The student will take home all the work completed, in addition to sharing a delicious

snack and an unforgettable creative moment in a space full of color and joy!!!
You can pay for the course twice: The first and the third class. Previous
