“SOME BILLIARD BOOKS”


I have received several messages requesting information on billiards literature. All books
are good, you learn from all; However, it is necessary to know the type of information that
is being investigated, since different books deal with different topics, for example:

1. HISTORY. There are books that deal with the history of this noble sport. For example: “History
of Billiards” by Pedro Gumis Lluch.
“History of Billiards” by William Hendricks.

2. BIOGRAPHIES. There are books that tell the sporting career of some players. For
example: “Willie Hoppe (Thirty Years of Billiards)” by Thomas Emmett Crozier. “Walter
Lindrum a Billiards Phenomenon” by Andrew Ricketts.

3. BIBLIOGRAPHY. There is a book that has an almost complete list of all billiard works:
“Billiards, Bowling, Table Tennis and Video Games” by Robert Craven.

4. MODALITIES. There are books aimed at a single game mode. For example: “Three-
Cushion Billiards” by José María Quetglas.
“Winning One Pocket” by Eddie Robin.

5. GAMING EQUIPMENT AND ITS MANUFACTURE. There are books on gaming


equipment, its manufacture, and the use of the lathe. For example:
“Blue Book of Pool Cues” by Brad Simpson.
“Advanced Machine Work” by Robert H. Smith.

6. FUNDAMENTALS. There are several books for beginners. For example:


“El Billar” by Juan Salvador.

7. PHYSICAL . There are books that deal with the physical-mathematical part of the game.
For example: “Billiards, Theory of Diamonds” by Antonio Cilione.

8. PSYCHOLOGY. There are books that analyze the psychological processes in this sport.

13. REGULATIONS. There are rule books and manuals for referees. For example: “BCA

14. MANUFACTURERS . There are books listing the different billiard cue and equipment
manufacturers, some of them including illustrated catalogs of their products. For example: “The
Billiard Encyclopedia” by Victor Stein & Paul Rubino.
