DEDICATION

I want to dedicate this work to you

To God who has given me life and strength
To finish this research project,
To my parents for being there when I needed them most; in
special to my mother for her help and constant cooperation and
To my boyfriend José for supporting me and helping me in the
most difficult moments.

NEBUL
IZATIO
Nebulization is a medical procedure, consisting of the
administration of a drug or therapeutic element by vaporization

N
through the respiratory tract. The substance to be administered is
combined with a liquid medium, often saline, and then with the help
of a gas, usually oxygen, to create a vapor that can be inhaled by
the patient.

INDICATIONS
The indications for nebulization are few but important, among them
we can mention:
 Administration of drugs that are only available in liquid form.
 Need to administer high- dose medication via the
bronchopulmonary route .
 Patients who are not able to correctly use conventional
inhalation systems (due to physical or mental incapacity or due to
the severity of the process) and who have not been able to be
taught in education and training workshops organized to correctly
teach inhalation techniques.

 Nebulization is a procedure mainly used for respiratory
diseases.

TYPES OF NEBULIZERS
THE NEBULIZER IS A TOOL THAT HELP US MAINTAIN A GOOD
STATE OF HEALTH, ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT USED BY THE
MAJORITY OF INDIVIDUALS, IT IS STILL NECESSARY IN MANY
CASES. THROUGH THIS DEVICE WE CAN TREAT VARIOUS
DISEASES SUCH AS ASTHMA, ALLERGIES AND
IMMUNOLOGY; ITS PRACTICALITY AND EFFICIENCY HAVE
MADE IT THE MOST RELIABLE MEDICAL ITEM.

4
ADVANTAGES
One of the main advantages of nebulization therapy is its use in
younger children or infants , in respiratory diseases, where the aim
is to administer the medication and, on the other hand, fluidize the
secretions for better elimination.

FUNCTIONING
The air enters a chamber through a hole which has a filter that
prevents the passage of macro particles (atmospheric lint,
suspended dust, etc.). This air is forcibly introduced by a motor that
in some cases produces vacuum through a membrane that
oscillates at high frequencies inside the compression chamber. After
passing through the chamber, the air is expelled towards an exit
orifice.
Upon leaving the compression chamber, the compressed air carries
different pressures inside the tube that connects the compressor to
the dosing chamber. This produces agitation of the liquid contained
in the chamber and when shaken, it releases drops of different
diameters.

5
The human lungs are anatomical and clinical structures (AAC) of
mesodermal embryonic origin, belonging to the respiratory system,
they are located in the thoracic cage, delimiting the mediastinum on
both sides, their dimensions vary, the right lung is somewhat larger
than its counterpart.
