REMAINS OF A MYSTERIOUS CIVILIZATION FOUND IN THE JUNGLE OF HONDURAS

A team of archaeologists has discovered, in an area of the Honduran jungle, the archaeological remains of a mysterious
civilization that coexisted with the Mayans and that disappeared for reasons that are still unknown. In the discovered
city, more than fifty figures were found representing everything from people to all types of animals in the area. The
exact coordinates of the discovery have not been revealed to avoid looting. National Geographic reporter and
photographer Adolfo Becket, who was on the expedition, explained that the group of archaeologists “examined and
recorded plazas, mounds and a pyramid that belong to a culture that flourished a thousand years ago. The team also
discovered remarkable stone sculptures that have remained intact to this day.” What was found is of incalculable value,
especially for archaeological science. A total of 52 objects were taken from the ground. Among them, figures carved in
white stone of monkeys, snakes and crows. They also found dwellings and brick pyramids and platforms apparently
intended for performing rituals.

The mystery around this civilization is so great that archaeologists and specialists have not yet assigned a name to this
culture. However, for local experts this discovery is not so surprising, since they say that in the region there are several
remains still undiscovered; This is due to the limited budget allocated to these investigations by the Honduran
government. According to National Geographic, this ancient civilization corresponds to the ancient City of the Monkey
God, one of those fascinating legends that attract countless archaeologists and explorers to this place, which is the
protagonist of numerous stories. Local archaeologists have ruled out that it is the mythical White City, but they did
explain that it is the remains of an enigmatic culture of which there is no history.
