• According to

Kocsis, criminal
profiling is a
psychological
technique
created and
developed
from the
knowledge of
psychology
and forensic
psychiatry.
• It differs from the
American and
English model in
that it assumes
knowledge derived
from human
behavior and
psychology, such as
personality
dynamics and
psychopathology.
• The profiles are
prepared based on
the statistical typing of
behavioral patterns
called multivariate
analysis.

Psychological
Factors in Serial
Crime
• Psychopathy involves a
persistent violation of the
rights of others, a disregard
for those rights, a lack of
empathy for the feelings of
others, a lack of conscience
and remorse for any offense
or harm to others, an
inflated self-concept, and a
superficial charm.
• An act of murder, rape
or arson clearly
constitutes a violation
of another person's
rights. But the serial
criminal's acts are
often callous in the
extreme, a cardinal
trait of psychopathy .
• The victim of a serial
killer or serial rapist is
not simply a body or
sexually penetrated, but
is generally used by the
psychopath as an object
of perverse gratification;
Various forms of torture
are very common, as is
post-mortem mutilation
of the victim's body.
• Also very characteristic of
the serial offender is a lack
of shame and remorse for
the crimes committed and
an evident immunity to the
feelings of the victim,
although the serial criminal
can be so manipulative that
a posture of remorse can
be assumed if it is
potentially advantageous. .
• Psychopathic
manipulation is
also evident in the
use of superficial
charm by some
serial criminals to
lure a potential
victim away from
safety.
Sociopat
• Antisocial personality
hdisorder, sometimes
called sociopathy, is a
mental disorder in
which a person
demonstrates no
discernment between
right and wrong and
ignores the rights and
feelings of others.
Sociopat
• People with antisocial
hpersonality disorder tend to
harass, manipulate, or
treat others with cruelty or
indifference.
• They show no guilt or
remorse for their behavior.
Sociopat
• People with antisocial personality
hdisorder often break the law and
become criminals.
• They may lie, behave violently or
impulsively, and have problems
with drug and alcohol use.
• Due to these characteristics,
people who have this disorder
generally cannot fulfill family,
work, or academic
responsibilities.
