 3. Know different ways to learn with enthusiasm

and imagination through origami
3. IMPORTANCE.

This project is focused on raising awareness in children and each of the families in the proper use of recyclable materials that are not
useful in the home, in addition to motivating and encouraging the making of origami in the little ones in the home. It should be
emphasized that recycling at home should be encouraged to avoid generating unnecessary garbage that contaminates the ecological
system.
Based on this project, children will be helped to develop imagination, personal creativity along with motor skills, the stimulation of hand-
eye coordination and the improvement of mathematical understanding through geometry. (Ikigai, 2020).
The purpose of the project is to make origami with creative designs using recycled paper, promoting productive use of their free time.
Recycling activities for children allow us to work on the importance of caring for the environment while doing something fun with the
little ones in the family. Recycling contributes to protecting the environment to stop environmental pollution. Therefore, recycling paper
and cardboard is important because it allows us to reduce the number of trees that have to be cut down to make paper. Therefore, when
making origami with recycled paper for children or adults, it activates memory. If the child makes easy figures, it is very possible that
they will remember the steps they had to follow and be able to make them later from memory.
Recycling and reusing waste helps protect the environment, but also saves money. Furthermore, recycling as a family is an excellent
alternative to strengthen ties, generate closer ties and spend fun and unforgettable moments, leaving aside the internet and screens.
(Roldan, 2020) .

Recycled paper is achieved by transforming waste paper into another useful material. It is about giving a new use to recycled paper that
had previously been classified as garbage and unusable. For that reason, origami can be said to be a paper recycling technique, since
paper is given a different use; It can be used decoratively for the home, as de-stress therapy or even to create jewelry from recycled
paper. With a lot of imagination and creativity you can make interesting and impressive objects.

It is important to change habits that must be made and that must be taught to children from a young age, because they will be the ones
who will have to take care of the environment tomorrow. Knowing where each material comes from helps them value and understand
why it is necessary to reuse and recycle; teach that a material can have a second life and be transformed into something new and useful,
to avoid having to take something from nature again.

Crafts

What is it:
Crafts, in general terms, are works carried out with the hands, with or without the help of tools. Generally, this is the
name given to some didactic tasks in which personal advancement, development of creativity, and are a form of
recreation are sought as the objective. Therefore, the ability to make crafts is linked to the motor development of
those who make them, fine or gross motor skills, which is why it is used throughout the early periods of the student.
For(Grecoy, 2011) . Crafts "are a set of recreational activities, which are a perfect task to motivate creativity and
learn colors, shapes and textures." According to the authors, the activities that children carry out with their hands
freely and in a playful manner are called crafts.

Technique:
Cut and paste: The most typical and basic technique of Scrapbooking, it is the main foundation on which
this art is based: “Cut and Paste”, that is, taking our scissors, cutting out a motif that we like and pasting it
wherever we want. (Luna, 2017)
Die-cutting: With die-cutting we immediately cut a pre-designed shape or drawing. To do this, we must have
tools that perform this function, such as manual die-cutters or cutting machines with metal dies. (Luna, 2017)
Stamping: Technique we will engrave a drawing or a text on the paper, using a stamp impregnated with ink.
(Luna, 2017)
Embossing or embossing: Technique by which we give relief or texture to the paper. There are two ways to
do embossing: cold and hot. (Luna, 2017)
Tearing: A really simple technique that is created by simply tearing the paper with our own hands. Although
I know that it will be difficult for many of you at first, because we all have a predilection for our pretty
papers, I assure you that it will create a very cool torn effect on the paper. (Luna, 2017)
Placing rivets: Placing eyelets to reinforce the holes in our albums or simply to attach them to the labels. To
put these eyelets (or eyelets in English), it will be necessary to have a specialized tool for this function that
will be responsible for riveting them so that they are fixed to the paper. (Luna, 2017)
Calligraphy: Calligraphy is the art of writing by hand and with a well-formed and beautiful handwriting. It is
something that is increasingly trending in the world of Scrapbooking and can be done in various ways: with
pens, fountain pens, markers, watercolor. (Luna, 2017)
Sewing: We can adapt many of the techniques used in sewing to our paper projects. From introducing textile
elements, such as buttons, fabric, felt, to sewing directly on the paper, either by hand or with a sewing
machine. (Luna, 2017)
Painting: We can paint directly on our work using all types of pigments (watercolors, acrylic paint, spray ink,
etc.), normally the paint is used to create backgrounds that serve as a base for our work. (Luna, 2017)
Dooling or scribbling: It is more than the art of doodling, of creating improvised drawings letting ourselves
be carried away by our imagination, let's do what we have done all our lives in school when the class bored us
haha. It seems silly, but there are people who have an innate gift for it and in certain projects these doodles
give a special touch to our work. (Luna, 2017)

Modeling:
Origami or origami: Origami is one of the most creative ways to entertain ourselves. It only consists of
folding different types of paper and surpassing ourselves by achieving increasingly complex figures.
Spectacular shapes can be achieved with a very simple technique. You can start with napkins and then
experiment with colored papers. (Borràs., 2018)
Making your own soaps: An ecological and simple way to obtain natural soaps that your skin will
appreciate. Ways to do it, one of them is using used oils, with water, essential oils that give it fragrance and
caustic soda. You'll see how simple it is. In addition, you can integrate beads, glitter, branches or dried
flowers during the process so that the result is much more beautiful. (Borràs., 2018)
Decorations with felt or EVA foam: You will have the possibility of making fantasy flowers to dress up
your parties, brooches to show off on your lapel, toys to give as a gift or for your children to entertain
themselves, bags and cases that will help you keep everything always organized. In addition, you can make
door signs, mouse pads, decorate pillows, decorate boxes or covers. (Borràs., 2018)
Crafts with salt paste: Salt paste is a material that does not have toxins, is ecological and economical, so you
can begin today to experiment with the modeling technique and generate incredible figures. With the salt
paste we will be able to shape our appetite until we offer the preferred figure. (Borràs., 2018)
Create our own jewelry: You will only need beads of different colors, sizes and shapes, as well as ropes or
threads to insert them. You can make necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, belts and all kinds of beautiful
jewelry. (Borràs., 2018)
Create games and toys: Decorations with egg cups, dolls with toilet paper cartons, ring toss games, board
games, baskets, puppets, zoos with figures and a long etcetera. (Borràs., 2018)
Cross stitch: It is a very entertaining craft that will guarantee hours of fun. With it you will obtain a
collection of beautiful paintings that will allow you to let your hands decorate the walls of your house. You
will only need a needle, colored threads and a fabric. With very few materials, you can spend hours
entertaining yourself until you finish that painting you've been working on for so long. (Borràs., 2018)
Make your own candles: Candles are a wonderful element for home decoration, which give aroma to our
tables and provide color to our spaces. We can start by making simple candles, to later experiment with
colored and scented candles. Don't forget to purchase vegan and non-toxic materials, so that your hobby does
not contaminate the environment in any way. (Borràs., 2018)
Painting scarves or t-shirts: Painting our own t-shirts and scarves is simple, although we will need a space
for it. We will start by testing with a piece of old white fabric. You will also need a paintbrush, a piece of
cardboard to make the stencils, another piece of cardboard to stretch the t-shirt, and special fabric paint.
(Borràs., 2018)

Recycling (Paper)

What is it:
Recycling basically consists of reusing materials that were discarded and that are not yet ready to make other things or to be
used again. Recycling is contributing to the protection of the environment, to avoid environmental pollution. Well, society has
always faced problems associated with waste that is reusable and recyclable and when mixed, it becomes garbage. Therefore,
garbage is a major problem that must be combated daily, as it generates odors in the streets, infections and diseases, putting the
health of society at risk. By recycling in the appropriate way, resources are saved, pollution is reduced and daily use materials
are given a longer life, energy savings are achieved and deforestation is avoided, generating new opportunities for life.
(Lineaverdehuelva, 2018)

Types of recycling:

plastic recycling
Plastic is a non-biodegradable material, taking more than 200 years to degrade when released into nature. The plastic recycling
process consists of collecting it, making a selection and classifying it. Subsequently, it is cleaned and chopped to finally proceed
to melt it. This will then be used as raw material in the manufacture of new plastic objects. (Lineaverdehuelva, 2018)

Paper recycling

Paper is a biodegradable material, but as it is one of the most used materials in the world, it is very convenient to recycle it
instead of obtaining it from its natural source, the wood of trees. In the paper recycling process, it is shredded and subjected to
treatments to break down the cellulose fibers that make it up and convert it into paper pulp, which is used as raw material in the
paper manufacturing process. (Lineaverdehuelva, 2018)

Glass recycling

Glass is probably the material that best suits recycling since it can be reused and processed an infinite number of times. When
glass is subjected to the recycling process, up to 30% of the energy necessary for the production of new glass is saved.
(Lineaverdehuelva, 2018)

Recycling of batteries and cells

Recycling batteries is very important for caring for the environment, since they are generally manufactured with polluting
materials such as heavy metals and other toxic compounds that are very harmful if released into nature. By recycling them, you
avoid the danger of them reaching the environment and save on manufacturing processes. (Lineaverdehuelva, 2018)

aluminum recycling

Aluminum is a metal widely used on a daily basis in any field, mainly in aluminum foil, cans and packaging, and in
construction. Recycling it is simple, since it consists of melting the aluminum and purifying it to be used again.
(Lineaverdehuelva, 2018)

Origami .

What is it:
The origin of the word Origami comes from the Japanese words oru “fold” and kami “paper”. However, it began to be called
this way around 1880. It used to be called Kami-Orikata “bending exercises”. Meanwhile, there is a word in the Spanish
language to define this art which is Origami.

It emerged in Japan during the Heian period (794-1183). At that time, Japan was far from the West and from China, and the
cultural events were in charge of the bridesmaids, whose refinement and inspiration would have resulted in Origami. There are
also references to figures as part of religious rituals; For example, the “butterfly” fold was related to Shinto weddings.
Therefore, the particularity of the origami technique is the transformation of paper into shapes of different sizes and symbols,
starting from a simple square or rectangular base, which can range from simple models to highly complex folds. The preferred
subjects to mold are animals and other elements of nature such as trees, flowers, among other motifs. (Shafer, 2001)

Technique:

Folding: It is a technique that relies on folding, marking and folding paper to make original figures. In addition, there
is a vast variety of figures that you can make with the origami paper technique. You can create envelopes, boxes,
animals, flowers, planes, boats, bookmarks and many more objects.

Folding: Also known as origami, it makes it possible to generate all kinds of figures without the need to use scissors
or resort to glue. Therefore, it must be done precisely, otherwise the result of the work will not be satisfactory.
Although there are simple designs, there are models that require great practice due to the complexity of folding.

Model:
Animal origami.

Pig origami
1. Fold in half twice, bringing the ends together, to mark the folds.
2. Then, take two opposite points towards the center that was marked by the folds.
3. Keep those points folded and place the figure vertically to join the other two points by folding the paper in
two.
4. Fold the remaining tip towards the point shown in the photo, and then open and fold only one side down, so
that the result is a small white rhombus.
5. You fold the two upper points inwards a little to form the ears.
6. Finally, paint the pig's eyes and nose with the marker.

Penguin Origami
1. Fold in half twice, bringing the ends together, to mark the folds.
2. Fold the bottom point up, but a little below the middle fold.
3. Then fold that same tip down.
4. Fold back along the marks of the first folds.
5. And then the ends, fold them outwards again.
6. Turn the figure over and you will have a penguin whose eyes you can paint.
7. If you want, you can bend the top tip a little to better shape the head.

dog origami
1. First, fold the paper in half, bringing two corners together.
2. Then, fold in half again, but only to mark the center.
3. Fold the two horizontal points to form the ears.
4. Finally, fold the remaining tip upwards to form the snout.
5. Paint the eyes and the tip of the snout as a nose.

elephant origami
1. Fold in half twice, bringing the ends together, to mark the folds.
2. Then, bring one of the ends to the center marked by the folds.
3. Fold the two side points along the lines that would form the hypotenuses of the triangles, and then fold those
same points outwards.
4. Take the longest end and fold it up and then down, leaving a small space between each fold.
5. Finally, fold the top corners of the rectangle back to form the elephant's head, and draw the eyes with the
marker.

heart origami
1. Start with a colored square sheet of paper. You can make a red or pink heart, or use a patterned paper.
2. If the paper has only one colored side, place the colored side down.
3. Fold along a diagonal.
4. Unfold the fold you just made.
5. The curve along the other diagonal.
6. Unfold the fold you just made.
7. Turn the paper and fold the top edge toward the center, toward the intersection of the two diagonals.
8. Fold the bottom edge up.
9. Fold the right side toward the vertical axis in the center.
10.
11. Fold the left side towards the vertical axis.
12. Traditional figures (crane, boat, boomerang, airplane, butterfly)

Origami Figures

Elephant

1. To make this fun craft you will need a square sheet of about 14x14 cm. If you want your figure to be larger,
choose a larger size.
2. First, fold the sheet in half to form a triangle.
3. Then open the figure.
4. Now bring the lower beak to the middle of the leaf.
5. Do the same with the upper beak, forming a kind of cone.
6. Fold the right beak up to the vertical stripe.
7. Bring the beak to the right again, marking a small fold.
8. Bring the left beak to the right by bending it more than halfway.
9. Now make a small crease and fold the beak to the left again.
10. Fold it in half, take the beak of the trunk and pull it out and cheer up, there's little left! Take the top peak on
the right and fold it inward to shape the ear.
11. Take a marker and paint your elephant's eyes, have you seen how pretty it looks? Do you dare to make a
complete family? Practicing is very important to acquire skill with origami.

Rabbit

1. To make this craft you will need a square sheet of paper. This is 20x20 cm, choose the size you want and the
color you like the most.
2. Fold the sheet in half forming a triangle like the one in the image.
3. Fold the sheet in half again, forming a smaller triangle.
4. Open the figure and return to the previous, larger triangle. It is important that you have marked the last fold
well so that you can guide yourself in the next step.
5. Now take the base of the triangle and fold a small strip of approximately one or two centimeters.
6. Now take the bottom right corner and bring it up using the middle of the triangle as a reference.
7. Do the same with the lower left corner until you get this figure. Do the same with the lower left corner until
you get this figure.
8. Flip the shape over and make sure this is the shape of your craft.
9. You have your rabbit ready, now you just have to give it life by painting its eyes and mouth, don't forget to
add the whiskers! It turned out great!
