INTRODUCTION
Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation is a specialty of Medical Technology, whose
services are intended for the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, prevention,
rehabilitation of pathologies in patients who have lost functional capacity as a result
of a genetic or acquired injury (stroke, infection, tumor, surgical intervention,
progressive disease, ECT).
Physiotherapy is a profession that is based on scientific bases where the medical
technologist widely develops all his abilities and his community performance
seeking the well-being of people since he is responsible for avoiding, curing and
preventing the consequences of multiple diseases.
During our training as professionals at the professional school of medical
technology specializing in physical therapy and rehabilitation, we carry out our
professional practices that consist of the hospital internship, which is a transition
stage between life as a student and as a professional, since it is oriented towards
integration, deepening and application of technical, scientific knowledge and
acquired skills focused on the ethical aspects of caring for people with a holistic
vision as a physiotherapist. The art of rehabilitation goes beyond treatment focused
on the human being as a holistic being, acting at the level of prevention, promotion
and recovery of health.

HISTORICAL REVIEW

The history of the Huancayo Metropolitan Polyclinic - Tambo District. It has its origin

in the initiative of the health regulatory manager of the central management of

benefits of Essalud, who expresses his opinion in favor of the creation of the

healthcare center with a Polyclinic resolution level in the city of Huancayo,

considering that in the Junín healthcare network, It is necessary to implement first-

level care centers with sufficient resolution capacity, which allows them to resolve

the majority of demand for outpatient consultation and low-complexity care,

allowing their hospitals to reach an adequate level of efficiency when providing

medium-complexity services. as it responds to them, this in order to reorder the

healthcare services of the healthcare network medicine.

The Huancayo Metropolitan Polyclinic was created under the executive presidency

resolution No. 015-PE-ESSALUD-2008, on January 6, 2008 in the city of Lima.

Under the executive presidency of Eng. Fernando Barrios Ipenza; The inauguration

of this health establishment was on April 24, 2009 and it began to operate with care

for the insured on May 2, 2009, with Dr. Julio Troncoso Mena, Director of the

Huancayo Metropolitan Polyclinic, as Junín healthcare manager. Dr. Rigoberto

Palacios Meza.

Essalud inaugurated the first Metropolitan Polyclinic of the Mantaro Valley, located

in the city of Huancayo (Junín region), with the purpose of meeting the health

needs of more than 60 thousand policyholders in this area of the country.

This center opts for the preventive health system, which aims to prevent people

from getting sick, allowing ailments to be controlled in time and thus reduce the

damage to people.

For this reason, Essalud promotes the development of prevention as the main

driver of its service to achieve effectiveness in the health system, thus undertaking

a policy of strengthening primary care.

The services that this Polyclinic will provide are disease prevention, health

promotion, recuperative care, outpatient consultation, controls, immunizations,

dental care, among others.

1.3. Description of Rotation Services

PHYSICAL THERAPY AND REHABILITATION SERVICE

o PHYSICAL AGENTS

The physical medicine service has a variety of physical agents such as:

electrotherapy, laser therapy, infrared, ultrasound and combined therapy

which is beneficial for the physiotherapy treatment of patients. Physical agents are

means used in the physiotherapy profession for its various treatment techniques.

These are a form of treatment that will help improve and strengthen the health

situation that the patient presents. Their effects are excellent and fast, in addition to

allowing multiple ways of application, making them adaptable to almost any injury,

illness or condition.

Thermotherapy: It is the use of heat for therapeutic purposes. It is the

application of heat in its different degrees on the body for therapeutic
purposes. Application mode:
o Superficial thermotherapy: hot compresses and paraffin
o Deep thermotherapy: ultrasound
Electrotherapy: Electrotherapy is a discipline that is included within physical

medicine and rehabilitation and is defined as the art and science of treating

injuries and diseases through electricity.

Laser: It is a low-power treatment, based on the emission of photons,

concentrated light particles. Accelerates the recovery and formation of new

cell colonies.

o MECHANOTHERAPY

TECNOLOGÍA MÉDICA HACIA LA EXCELENCIA ACADÉMICA

“YEAR OF THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND IMPUNITY ”

The mechanotherapy area has two stationary bicycles, one hand bicycle.

These work instruments are essential in the execution of the patient's

treatment since due to the limited space they cannot be used effectively.

o PSYCHOMOTORTICITY:

The area of psychomotor skills in the area of physical therapy and

rehabilitation. In this area we can find materials such as: bobath balls, and

psychomotor kits.

o CHRONIC PAIN:

Pain is a signal from the nervous system that something may be wrong. It is an

unpleasant sensation, such as stinging, tingling, stinging, burning, or discomfort.

The pain may be sharp or dull. You may feel pain in one area or all parts of your

body. There are two types: acute and chronic. Acute pain lets you know that you

may be injured or have a problem that needs attention. Chronic pain is different. It

can last weeks, months or even years. The original cause may have been an injury

or infection. There may be an ongoing cause of pain, such as arthritis or cancer. In

some cases, there is no clear cause. Environmental and psychological factors can

worsen chronic pain.

Many older adults have chronic pain. Women also report having more chronic pain

than men, and are at higher risk for many conditions that cause pain. Some people

have two or more diseases that cause chronic pain.

o MISCELLANEOUS:

In this area we interact with patients of all ages, and perform all types of treatment

(physical agents, kinesic therapy, gym).

“YEAR OF THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND IMPUNITY ”

Firstly, we carry out the evaluation for the physiotherapeutic diagnosis using the

evaluation form that we have in the area and then we carry out your treatment plan.

The treatment given to the patient is 30 to 45 minutes daily or every other day. If we

observe that the patient does not show improvement, another treatment plan will be

modified.

The treatment consists of physical agents, kinesic therapy, manual therapy and

gym.

The treatment we perform on geriatric patients is, for the most part, to relieve pain,

for which we exclude gym treatment since they cannot perform it adequately. After

completing the 8 sessions, all patients are transferred to group therapy for 1 year

for physical maintenance and to prevent the injury from returning.

o GROUP WORKSHOPS FOR SENIORS, ADULTS, TEENS AND CHILDREN

The Physiotherapist of physical activity in adults must know and master their specific
skills and for this a training itinerary is necessary in accordance with international
standards.

The regular practice of physical activity produces a series of morphological and

functional adaptations that improve psycho-biological health in different functional
systems such as:

- Locomotor system
- Bones: stimulation of osteoblastosis, better nutrition of the growth cartilage,
condensation and organization of bone trabeculae, increase in bone
mineralization and density (prevents fractures, osteoporosis and other
injuries to the bone system).
- Joints: improves joint lubrication and increases joint mobility (prevents
arthritic and arthritic processes).
- Muscles and ligaments: increased synthesis and organization of collagen
fibers, increased tendon and ligamentous resistance, general or selective

muscle hypertrophy (slow or fast fibers), metabolic improvement (aerobic

and anaerobic).

During school age and adolescence we find in our consultations that boys and girls
come with generalized back pain.

The role of Physiotherapy begins to develop a very important diagnosis about these
problems at these ages since very important physiological changes occur in the
development of the musculoskeletal system, also looking at the physical condition
of the child. Therefore, children or adolescents are taught and corrected about
good habits of postural hygiene and the importance of physical activity at their age
so that there are no complications later in adulthood, such as sitting, sleeping, lifting
objects from the floor. , etc.
