Full-body waterproof rain jacket: Comfortable suit that protects personnel in the field from the
rain.
Cement. - Construction material composed of a powder substance that, mixed with water or
another substance, forms a soft paste that hardens in contact with water or air.
Grout . - Mixture of water and cement, used to adhere the bolts to the soil or rock inside the drilling.
Mortar. - It is a premix composed of hydraulic binders, fine aggregate and/or additives that, in
aqueous suspension, is ideal for pumping, its applications are such as contact injection, filler
injection and ground stabilization.

6. DEVELOPMENT/PROCEDURE
6.1 Document Review:
• Activity risk matrix (IPERC).
• Dissemination of approved procedure and IPERC.
• Approved plans for construction.
• 5-minute talk training format (filled out in the work area).
• Preparation of the ATS (safe work analysis).
6.2 Previous activities:
• Release of the SSOMA area from monitoring gas and ventilation
appropriate, based on tunneling standards.
• The geology notebook should be reviewed to consideration of the
recommendations from said area, both from the contractor and theSupervision.
• The daily chat, ATS and inspection forms will be filled out before start the
anchor bolt installation activity.
• Check lighting against tunneling standards.
• A prior inspection of the work area will be carried out, identifying the correctly marked
entrances and exits.
• Within the work area there will be a water dispenser and a shaded place.
• The good condition of the power equipment and manual tools to be used will be verified.

6.3 Task execution

PROCEDURE

6.3.1 Topographic Marking of the Anchor Bolt Distribution Mesh.

• The drilling points will be located in the tunnel according to the support plans or according to
a geological evaluation carried out on the ground.
• The area will be delivered clean and ready to mark the drilling mesh and enter to drill, and
this includes loose material on the walls and tunnel vault.
• After cleaning is completed, surveying must survey the drilling area and mark the drilling
points.

6.3.2 Drilling
• Determine the accessibility to the drilling area, the availability of water and air for the
operation, jackleg machines and other accessories.
• Loosen loose rocks from the area, and apply preventive support with shotcrete if warranted
depending on the type of rock.
• Once the location of the point and the inclination of the drill have been verified, the drilling is
carried out. Compressed air will also be used for drilling. At this point only authorized
personnel will be able to operate the equipment and all hose connections that have coupling
claws and clamping chains will be inspected.
• The driller will have his assistant to change bars and in case of possible blockages in the
hole.

6.3.3 Cement grout injection

• Verification of the correct operation of the grouting pump, hoses, compressor, among
others.
• Before injection, the drills must be washed with jets of water and/or pressurized air, ensuring
complete cleaning of the drill from any residue or debris from the drilling.
• The personnel who are in charge of placing the grout in the borehole must always wear their
full PPE and their tyvek suit to protect themselves from rebound or falling grout.
• At the beginning of grouting, the condition of the hoses and electrical extensions will be
checked. Additionally, the hose joints must be secured with clamps.
• By means of the electric injection pump, the perforated column will be filled, using a hose or
plastic tube with a diameter smaller than that of the perforation, which reaches the bottom of
the perforation, and will be removed with the pressure of the injection of the grout (this
injection method is known as "gravity injection".
• The perforated column must be completely grouted; which is practically demonstrated when
the grout drains into the mouth of the drill.
• The a/c dosage of the slurries will vary as necessary according to the characteristics of each
drilling according to the ground conditions found.
• Subsequently, the fortification bolt must be introduced into the interior of the drill, making
small rotating and alternating movements, in such a way that it can

expel possible air bubbles into the drill, ensuring that they reach the bottom of the drilling.
• Once the injection of the bolt with grout is completed, the plates and securing nuts are
installed manually.

6.3.4 Resin injection

• Once the drilling is completed, the cleanliness of the drill is ensured.
• For the indicated bolts, according to construction drawing EC-02-EX-0002 Rev 0,
They will install 06 resins (3 slow and 3 fast), entering the drill one by one and pushing them
into the drill with a wooden block.
• The cleaning of the helical bar is ensured and it is partially entered into the mouth of the drill
with the jackleg machine, which will allow by rotary percussion to beat and mix the resins
inside for the correct setting for a minimum time of 50 seconds.
• Once the injection of the bolt with resin is completed, the plates and securing nuts are
installed manually.

6.4 Signaling
The area where the drilling and installation of anchor bolts is carried out must be delimited to
prevent the entry of unauthorized personnel.
6.5 Identification and Coordination
The existing hazards and the type of terrain, etc. will be identified and inspected together with the
field engineer, foreman.
Ensure that all personnel fully understand the task assigned to them, making them repeat, if
necessary, the instructions received. And give the "5 Minute Safety and Environment Talk",
identifying potential risks from a safety point of view.
The personnel who will carry out the task must know and understand the procedure, the
capable person must identify the dangers and evaluate the risks, and fill out their ATS, inspect
their harness, tools and equipment, fill out their checklist and have the MSDS sheets for the
resins. to use.
Know the emergency communication line in case an accident occurs, and know how to stay
calm.
