SUMMARY

Children's crafts with popsicles, in addition to being fun, can be a recreational

pastime to enhance the creativity of the boys and girls who are educated at the
“RIO CENEPA” Educational Unit of the Flavio Alfaro Canton, whose objective is
to stimulate, prevent and resolve difficulties, allowing the child to express
themselves and give free rein to their imagination while they are entertained.

To meet the objective of the project, the teacher, through craft activities
specifically with palettes of materials from the environment, will help to enhance
all these values by facilitating the channels so that the child can express what
he has inside, his feelings, sensations and emotions in a creative way, while
learning to perceive and understand the world from different points of view, for
which he will use a constructivist, active and participatory

This school project is developed with the guidance of the teacher of the second
year of basic general education and the collaboration of parents and students,
whose purpose is to obtain an interdisciplinary product, which allows generating
the acquisition of new knowledge, awaken our senses and particularly the
students to whom the project is directed, helping them to enrich their ability to
communicate and express themselves, in addition to expanding their ability to
see, understand and interpret the world.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The project called “crafts in a palette of environmental materials” is aimed at

students in the second year of Basic General Education of the “Rio Cenepa”
Educational Unit of the Flavio Alfaro Canton.

The project is carried out motivated by the experiences lived in the Educational
Unit, where it is observed that boys and girls in the second year of basic
education cannot express what they have inside, their feelings, sensations and
emotions in a creative way, in addition to Many of them feel unmotivated by
manual work, since they still have a long way to go to develop their motor skills
and coordination.

Hence, the social part of this work with crafts will improve the children's aptitude
for group work, allowing them to express their feelings, thus helping their
emotional development, which will allow a better relationship between students
and teachers. and students with parents.

The project is made up of activities that stimulate perception, imagination and

sensitivity, showing each one clearly and in detail with the support of images
that motivate children to have creative fun, identifying criteria of shape, size,
consistency, texture, temperature, color and proportion, as a form of
communication through drawing, painting, modeling and the elaboration of
various objects, in close relationship with tastes and favorite activities.

Through these alternatives, children will increase their ability to recognize and
experience sensations, emotions and feelings, strengthening their repertoire in
the area of their sensitivity, while developing psychomotor, thinking and artistic
skills, through the expression of their feelings. thoughts.

GOALS

General objective

3
Encourage students to create manual work through observation, manipulation
and application of their artistic skills, to develop their artistic abilities .

Specific objectives

 Achieve the incorporation of children in manual activities to transform

their reality, taking advantage of their abilities so that they learn to do
simple and practical jobs.

 Demonstrate the artistic skills of students in making crafts

 Make artistic crafts in the classroom with environmental materials

 Present the work done to colleagues at the fair and project exhibition.

 Prepare a manual on decorations with palettes and environmental

materials

JUSTIFICATION

The school project of crafts with palettes with environmental materials was
created with the purpose of promoting and encouraging the creativity and
imagination of students in the second year of basic education and is aimed at
comprehensive training and holistic development of the student.

4
The Project arises from the initiative of providing the student with the
opportunity to demonstrate their artistic abilities, because although it is true that
the expression of the human being through crafts has satisfied their needs
thanks to the potential in the development of capacities such as creativity,
originality, personal security, training and strengthening of self-esteem, hence it
is necessary to implement the project called “crafts with pallets with
environmental materials” in the projection of Good Living that the government
promotes in the application of this principle to education.

What is expected is that the student learns not only knowledge, but also skills
and attitudes, but, above all, that he learns to apply them to his life, practice and
development in society, to know himself and recognize how and for that learns.

The main novelty in this project is that it proposes the use of easily obtained
materials such as recyclable material and others that will be useful in the
development of your work.

This project will stimulate the creativity and motor skills of the children in the
second year of basic education at the Rio Cenepa Educational Unit, it will allow
the children to develop their observation skills, to help them understand their
environment, learn to communicate, establish a dialogue with others, learn to
listen, and share, to develop their imagination, innovate and create to provide
new solutions to difficulties and build a better society. In addition, they will
develop a sense of sensitivity and camaraderie, opening their minds to adapt to
the changes that occur in the current time.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

CRAFTS.

This project is eminently educational in nature, considering that one of its

essential functions is to enhance the mental, motor and emotional capacities of
the boys and girls of this Educational Institution.

5
It is the opportunity for students to fly with their imagination and fantasy in a
world of action and freedom to manipulate, discover and create educational
crafts or toys, and thus they will learn, to learn by enjoying what they do.

Crafts are a pleasure that children turn into one of the most joyful and
unforgettable entertainments. These are original and beautiful creations, which
we usually do with our children, without fully knowing their benefits for
development.

IMPORTANCE OF CRAFTS

Crafts for children are very relevant for children's entertainment as well as for
our children's learning processes, because children learn to develop their skills,
it awakens a hitherto unsuspected interest in them, they have fun and learn to
do new activities.

The comprehensive development of the child is very complete, since

psychomotor skills are stimulated. Children differentiate in which activities they
tend to have greater skill.

They develop their creativity. Many works only indicate the procedure in a
general way, then the children transform the craft according to their own tastes.

They improve your concentration. Making a craft requires having all your
senses focused on that activity, and despite being small children, from that age
they enhance their skills.

Making crafts is not only a recreational activity for children, it is a perfect task to
motivate creativity, and learn colors, shapes, textures.

Through crafts the child develops his manual skills but also his imagination. It is
not only about doing a job well done, but also about sharing a moment with
colleagues and having fun together.

Therefore, the practice of crafts with different materials will encourage interest
in demonstrating their creativity, achieving an atmosphere of trust and good
spirits among colleagues, student - teacher, teacher - parent, parent - student.
Crafts are a tool capable of generating the acquisition of new knowledge,

6
awakening our senses and those of our children, in addition to inserting us into
a competitive and interesting social world.

PREPARING CRAFTS FOR CHILDREN :

When thinking about the activities we are going to do with the children, we as
parents or educators should promote and prevent the following things. This list
shows us some aspects that we must take into account and that will help us
carry out the crafts that we are going to make.

 Think and prepare in advance for each activity that we are going to do.
 Motivate and stimulate one's own creation.
 The crafts that we are going to make must be satisfactory and pleasant
at all times, but not leave aside the ability to make an effort and
overcome the difficulties that arise.
 Help create a good climate of tranquility and trust, giving security. The
workshop must be a place of experimentation, welcoming and rewarding.
 Promote teamwork , avoiding favoritism and dependencies on specific
people in the group.
 It is not necessary that we know all the techniques, but we do need to
know the difficulty they entail.
 Knowing how to adapt activities to the type of group: special needs, age
of the children, interpersonal dynamics. Take into account the material
we have, time, space, place to store the crafts made.
 You will also have to know how to adapt to circumstances, taking
advantage of unforeseen events.

THEMES FOR CRAFTS:

When thinking about doing crafts, it can be a bit difficult at first. It is possible
that we get stuck repeating crafts that we have already done on other occasions
or resorting to craft books that are sometimes uncreative. Having a starting
point can help us decide what we will do and how to develop our crafts. In this
way we can work from:

7
 The personal or group environment. Going through our own experiences
or those of others, feelings, emotions, trips or excursions that we have
taken... In this way we can develop a craft around our feelings, such as:
what would fear be like if we painted it? What color and shape would it
be?, or work on our experiences.
 From the environment and the world around us. The urban world, its
constructions, advertising, fashion, nature, vegetation, animals, time. The
environment is an inexhaustible source of topics with which we can work
with children when doing crafts.

CRAFTS MADE WITH ICE CREAM STICKS

Children's crafts, in addition to being fun, can be a recreational pastime to

enhance the creativity of the little ones. Crafts can stimulate, prevent and solve
difficulties, allowing children to express themselves and give free rein to their
imagination while entertaining themselves.

The possibilities for doing manual work at home and with the family are endless,
which can be done with very inexpensive and easy-to-find materials.

Raft with ice cream sticks:

A very simple craft to do that will later be used to entertain the children during
bath time. You can even take it to the pool or the river if you go on a hike.

To do it, you make a row of sticks, one next to the other, leaving one or two
millimeters of separation between them. To join them, you glue them with
another stick perpendicular to the central height. Then you continue gluing them
to the sides of the latter, in the same direction. We make another layer to
reinforce, in the direction of the first. Finally, a vertical stick will serve as a mast,
which we will paint in our favorite color. A page from a magazine, newspaper or
telephone directory will serve as a candle. And sail!!

How to make a painting with ice cream popsicles

In addition to being used to hold the ice cream sticks, ice cream sticks are great
for crafts. In this tutorial we explain how to make a very simple and decorative
photo frame with ice cream sticks in a very short time.

Material needed to make a homemade frame with ice cream sticks:

Colored ice cream sticks or popsicles (in my case I have used the large ones,
you can find them in craft stores, stationery stores or multi-price stores)

liquid silicone

White rubber for the hearts

A few pieces of red rubber to assemble the base support

wooden sticks (skewer) also for the base

How to make homemade frame with ice cream sticks:

9
Place the sticks in a frame and glue them with a little liquid silicone

Cut out little eva foam hearts and glue them at the joining points of the sticks (if
you want to give it another type of decoration, this is the time)

To assemble the base, use one of the sticks, glue two pieces of EVA foam to
the base so that they are at the same distance as the feet of your frame. Cut 2
pieces of the skewer stick and glue each of them on the eva rubber that you
have arranged on the base, then glue another piece of eva rubber on each of
the sides of the frame and join the skewer stick to the frame (note in the
photos). If you don't want it to be seen, you can cover it with a piece of foam
and hide the stick.

Before gluing it, also put a little silicone at the base of the sticks to fix it well and
prevent it from falling.

Important, when making the base the back stick (the one with the skewer) has

to form a small angle so that the frame stays straight and does not tip over .

Children's animals with ice cream sticks:

10
Another very nice craft for little ones who are starting to read is to make a fun
bookmark recreating the little one's favorite animal. Very easy to make since
you will simply have to add a small layer of paint to give it personality and mark
the characteristic features of each animal with moving eyes, buttons or colored
felt that we can find in any craft or stationery store.

A good way to enhance memory, agility, hand-eye coordination, motor skills or

self-esteem. It is advisable to start introducing these games from an early age,
obviously, with a lower complexity. A good way to motivate them to play with
puzzles is by having them create the drawing themselves and then redo it while
they develop their memory. We look for a simple drawing like the one we see in
the photo above and we engrave it on several toothpicks joined in the same
direction (without glue). Once the paint is dry, we separate them and let the
child put them back in the correct order. The greater the number of sticks we
use, the more the difficulty will increase.

DOLLS WITH ICE CREAM STICKS

Ice cream sticks are ideal for creating all types of figures. Your children will
have a great time creating and imagining all kinds of characters and painting

11
them themselves. It is an activity that helps develop creativity. As if that were
not enough, once you have finished creating your figure you can play with it.

These figures can serve as a toy, but they are also a great decorative element.
You can hook them on the wall and brighten up the little ones' room. They will
love it!

A great idea is to use glow in the dark paint to paint your designs. This way,
your children's room will light up at night. Isn't it a very interesting option?

DESIGN YOUR OWN TOYS

Ice cream stick crafts are perfect for designing educational toys. Here we leave
you some examples, suitable for different ages, to inspire you. Together with
your children, you can create a game to learn letters and numbers, a fun puzzle
for the little ones, a mini banjo or even a marble toy.

12

How to make a house with ice cream sticks

Building a popsicle stick house is a fun and easy way to pass the time. You can
build your masterpiece in a million different ways, although the quickest way to
do it is to start by building four squares with sticks glued on them as walls. Once
you have finished doing this, you can build the roof by creating two triangles
with sticks glued on them as slats. Then comes the best part: decorating it
however you like!

build your masterpiece in a million different ways, although the quickest way to
do it is to start by building four squares with sticks glued on them as walls. Once
you have finished doing this, you can build the roof by creating two triangles
with sticks glued on them as slats. Then comes the best part: decorating it
however you like!

build the walls

Spread out a few newspapers or sheets of packing paper. Because you will be
working with glue, it is recommended that you completely cover the surface you
are going to work on with newspapers, a disposable tablecloth or any other
material that protects it.

Be very careful when using hot glue, as it can be difficult to remove from
surfaces. Also, glue may drip from the gun, so always place it on a covered
surface.

Make four squares with popsicle sticks. Extend two popsicle sticks parallel to
each other, separated by a distance equal to the length of one of them. Then,
spread two more sticks on top of the first two, forming a square. Glue them in
the corners. Repeat this process to build three more squares.

These squares will become the walls of the house.

16
Glue the popsicle sticks to cover the wall frame. Glue enough sticks in a row on
the extended square to cover it completely. Apply a line of glue over two of the
opposite sides of the square and lay the sticks in place. Repeat this procedure
to complete all four walls.

Make sure to place the sticks close together so as not to leave empty spaces on
the wall.

When you get to the end, there may not be room to fit a whole stick. Therefore,
trim a stick with a utility knife to fit the final space.

Make the roof of the house

Build the initial framework. Form a triangle by overlapping three popsicle sticks
at the corners. It doesn't matter what type of stick goes on top or underneath.
Use a small drop of glue to attach the sticks at the three corners. Then, repeat
the same procedure to make another triangle

To make this basic roof, you will use two triangles as trusses. However, you can
make a more stable roof by creating a third triangle, which should extend
between the two main triangles of the roof.

Spread out popsicle sticks to create one side of the roof. Place a drop of glue
on the flat side of each end of a popsicle stick. Then, glue the stick over both
triangles so that they extend perpendicularly. Repeat this process until you
cover the length of the sides of the triangle with the sticks. Place the sticks
tightly together. Hold each stick in place for at least five seconds to let the glue
set it.

Spread each stick carefully so as not to remove any of the triangles you placed
previously.

Extend the second set of ceiling slats. In the same way you placed the first side
of the roof, glue the sticks in place to make the opposite side. Continue holding
the roof carefully so that no sticks come loose from it.

Cover the open ends of the roof. At that point, you will have a roof frame open
on both ends. As an additional option, you can close the inside of the roof

17
completely. Glue a stick along the frame starting from the bottom of the roof. As
you add each additional stick, you'll need to cut it a little further as the triangle
narrows toward its apex.

Closing the roof completely will add realism to the popsicle stick house, since
real houses are built this way.

Assemble the house

Cut the windows. If you want to improve the appearance of the house, you can
cut one or two windows into the walls. That's the easiest way to do it before
gluing the walls together. Take your utility knife and carefully cut a 1 inch x 1
inch (3 cm x 3 cm) square out of one or more walls. [2]

You can center the window or cut it to the side if you wish.

To make the house more decorated, you can use the pieces you have cut out of
the window to create blinds on the sides of the house or a frame around the
window.

Cut a door. You can make a popsicle stick house look more realistic by cutting
out a door. The size of the craft sticks you use will determine the size of the
door. Make the door size most of the height of the house and about ⅓ of its
width. Cut the door with a utility knife.

You can glue a piece of paper the size of the door opening to the edge of the
door opening to make it look like a real door. Fold the paper along the glued
edge to simulate the door swinging open and closed.

Glue the walls together at the corners. Take two of the walls and place them
vertically so that the sticks are straight. Apply a line of glue along the inside
edge of the stick on the end of each wall. Then carefully press the glued edges
together and hold for about 30 seconds.

Fasten the two remaining walls one at a time to complete the basic structure of
the house.

18
Install the roof over the top. Glue the roof in place by applying a line of glue
along the entire top edge of the house. Place the roof over the house and press
down long enough for the glue to set. Another alternative is to not glue the roof
and make it removable so you can place things inside the house.

Decorate the house. The options you have to decorate the house are almost
endless. You can paint the entire house one color using spray paint, use a small
paintbrush to paint the walls one color and the ceiling another color, or tape
fabric or gift wrapping paper to the walls so they have a design. Another thing
you can do is stick moss, flowers or sticks on the house to give it a wild
appearance.

Tips

This type of popsicle stick house primarily serves as decoration, so it may not
be sturdy enough for someone to play with roughly.

Once the house is assembled, you can paint and decorate it any way you want.

Warnings

Be careful when cutting the sticks, as a splinter could become embedded in

your skin.

Always be careful when using knives because you could cut yourself.

Things you will need

ice cream sticks or craft sticks

hot glue and a hot glue gun or other type of glue

cutter

paper (optional)

Gather the materials. You will need approximately 100 popsicle sticks. You can
buy craft sticks at a hobby store or superstore that has a craft section. You will
also need glue. It is recommended that you use a hot glue gun. However, if you

19
are a child, you will need adult supervision while using the hot glue gun.
Additionally, you should get paper, scissors and a cutter.

If you don't want to use hot glue, get a regular bottle of craft glue.

Always be careful when using a hot glue gun, as you could burn yourself with it.

METHODOLOGY

The school project uses an active and practical methodology, which aims to
enhance the mental, motor and emotional capacities of the boys and girls of this
Educational Institution, being an opportunity for students to fly with their
imagination and fantasy in a world of action and freedom to manipulate,
discover and create didactic crafts or toys, and thus they will learn, to learn by
enjoying what they do.

Classes must be developed in an environment of tranquility and trust that allows

the adequate exchange of information between the children and the teacher,
imparting knowledge that allows the student to develop

The methods that will be used in the development of the project are: inductive,
deductive, analytical and synthetic.
