printed on theme or brand. Increases

10 Inserts: List of items included in the box with
descriptions or inspiration. Stay on theme and

Custom Printed Boxes
I use Box Genie for our custom-printed boxes. We've researched and
tried a number of box printing sites and decided to make Box Genie
our vendor of choice because of the ease of ordering, the quality of
their boxes, and their outstanding customer service.

Design your own custom packaging right on their site or get design
help from a Box Genie designer. Box Genie's website also makes it easy
to see how your cost is affected by the quantity of your order (the
more you buy, the lower your cost per box) and how the price is
affected by additions to the design.

The easy design element of Box Genie's site allows us to create a

custom style or size whenever we need it. We've created holiday boxes,
brand collab boxes, and specialty one-off boxes. With Box Genie, we
now carry the distinct design of the outside over to the inside - upping
the "wow" factor of every box!

Basic Mailer Box

I always recommend starting with a basic box. You
learn so much in the first few months of having
your subscription box, the last thing you want is to
invest in a custom box that doesn’t fit your needs
long term. It’s a learning curve.

My favorite basic boxes come from Uline for a few

bucks each. I prefer the interlocking boxes because
they prevent items from falling out and eliminate
any extra tape on the sides that may look tacky.
They ship the same or next day! Amazon also has
great options for lower quantity orders.

Printed Label
You can dress up your basic box with a full
size sticker sheet or logo tape from Sticker
Mule.

I use a local print shop and full-color stickers

for the tops of my basic mailer boxes. A
sheet costs about $1 each. We like to get two
labels per sheet, but sometimes use a big
box and like to cover the entire top. I have
also used a large label to brand an XL solid
color poly mailer.

I recommend making a few calls to local

print shops to compare prices with online
stores like Sticker Mule and Staples.

Custom Poly Mailer
I use Plus Packaging for poly mailers. Their website is not as easy to use, so I recommend
filling out the contact form and talking with one of their reps. Explain exactly what you need
then they will break it down for you, send a proof of your design, and get your order
processed. They have great customer service and constantly follow up with your needs.

The 13x10 poly mailers are perfect for my T-Shirt subscription. They are double sided, full
color print. No white edges! The minimum order is 3000 pcs. It seemed like a lot at first, but
as my subscription grew, 3000 pcs doesn't last very long anymore.
There are upfront plate costs. These are one time costs to make your design plates, and
then you just reorder the bags. The bags cost me .25-.40 each depending on how many I
order. It’s a huge cost saving compared to boxes.

Another great solution is the custom poly mailers from Sticker Mule. They are more
expensive, closer to .80-1.60 each depending on the quantity. I would choose Sticker Mule if
you need them quickly or you need a smaller quantity. The are only a one-sided print, but
it’s full color front with a white border. We use them in place of the box every now and then
when it’s all soft goods that month.

Poly or Bubble
Mailers
Much like the blank boxes, using
mass printed poly or bubble
mailers is a great way to get
started. Look for something with
your brand colors or patterns. I
purchase most of mine from
Amazon, but there are several
poly mailer companies out there
that have great colors and
designs to choose from without
a custom cost.

 Printed Inserts
Every box should have an insert or two. I use a local print shop for my inserts. I use 5x7 inserts for a
list of items in the boxes along with a themed design that matches the contents of the box that
month. You can also use an insert for a special message from you, a coupon, or QR codes to take
them to your site.

I also use 3x3 cards for my T-Shirt subscription. Just a little something to go along with
their shirt each month. It uplevels the experience and creates value for a low cost.
