WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PGIRS?
It is to minimize the generation of waste at the source,
maximize its use and properly dispose of the waste
generated in the institution.
WHAT IS WASTE?
It is all material that we produce in our daily activities
and that we have to get rid of because it has lost its
value or we no longer feel useful to us .
TYPES OF WASTE?
They are classified according to their composition:
ORGANIC WASTE : Any waste of biological origin,
which was once alive or part of a living being.
INORGANIC WASTE: Any waste of non-biological
origin, industrial origin or any other non-natural
process.
RECYCLE : Collect and treat waste to obtain new
biological origin or not, that constitutes a potential
hazard.
ACCORDING TO ITS ORIGIN:
Domiciliary: Comes from homes.
Industry: Product of the raw material transformation
process.
Hospital: dangerous and can be organic and
inorganic.
Urban: From the populations, such as waste from
parks, educational institutions, useless urban furniture.

REDUCE: Avoid anything that generates a
unnecessary waste.
REUSE: Take advantage of waste to make other
things or use them.

WASTE DISPOSAL
In Colombia, separation at the source is required so
that the garbage collection service can properly
dispose of waste. It is important to do it properly, since
through this process we reduce pollution and avoid
economic penalties.
In the institution we have 3 bins, each one of a
different color:
GRAY CAN: It is for clean and dry paper and
cardboard.
GREEN CAN: It is for ordinary non-recyclable items:
such as toilet paper, sweeping material, chewing gum,
food packaging, bones.
BLUE CAN: Glass and plastic bottles, cans, clean
plastic packaging, plastic bags, other plastics, wood,
tetrapak.
