BIOGRAPHY OF PATRICK DUPOND

THE LEARNING YEARS
His father went home early. He lives a simple and
modest childhood with his mother and companion. To
channel her son's energy, his mother decided to enroll
in a soccer club, then of course judo. La jeune Patrick
soon abandoned these activities. She discovered her
calling by observing a ballet class and therefore her
mother enrolled in a dance class.
Her abilities were quickly noticed and her dance
teacher advised her to take classes at a higher level. It
was at this time - at the end of the year 1967 - that his
parents accidentally met Tessa Beaumont and Max
Bozzoni, himself a former dancer at the Paris Opera .
This immediately presses the talent of the young dancer, and agrees to take charge
of the training of Patrick Dupond.
At the time of the events of May 1968, school activities and dance classes must be
paused. When he takes the road to school, he is a victim of ostracism from his
peers because of his young dancer quality, and has to select entrance to the dance
school of the Paris Opera.
He was admitted to the dance school in 1969, at the age of ten, for the three-month
training camp. She then passed the entrance test to the dance school and will
become all her classically trained dancer, while continuing to take private lessons
from Max Bozzoni every night. He will continue studying under the direction of
Gilbert Mayer, but, in the end, his teacher has been Max Bozzoni.
He became known in 1976 by winning the gold medal at the Varna International
Ballet Competition in Bulgaria. A virtuoso dancer, he was named principal dancer
in 1980 and had considerable success in France, which did not prevent him from
experiencing a glorious international career. He worked with leading dancers such
as Rudolf Noureev, Maurice Béjart and Alvin Ailey, then in 1990 became Director
of Ballet Dance at the Paris Opera, succeeding Nureyev. He left this position in
1995, and from the Paris Opera in 1997, dismissed, in his words, for "his
insubordination and indiscipline" 2 . Subsequently, he appears on many occasions
on television broadcasts as a candidate or jury broadcasts while continuing to
perform on stage.
He won the gold medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition in Bulgaria,
with Albrecht's changes to the second act of Giselle, Siegfried's changes to the
third act of Swan Lake, the solo deballet studies of Harald Lander, changes to
Basil, from the ballet Don Quixote, the famous Corsair variation and, finally, a
contemporary choreography created by him.

Therefore, his career takes a new rise. He created different leading roles, and
continued his training as a soloist. They are encouraged to dance like opera on
international stages.
In December 1978, after the annual review of the corps de ballet, he was named
first dancer. He goes to dance the greatest choreographers, Rudolf Noureev, Alvin
Ailey or Maurice Béjart. It is named after the star's dancer in 1980. He dances
with partners such as Noëlla Pontois Françoise Legree, Monique Loudières, Sylvie
Guillem, Isabelle Guérin, Marie-Claude Pietragalla.
