THE GREAT INVOCATION

From the point of Light in the Mind of God,

May Light flow into the minds of men;
May the Light descend to Earth.

From the point of Love in the Heart of God, May love flow
into the hearts of men;
May Christ return to Earth.
From the center where the Will of God is known,
May the Purpose guide the small wills of men.
The Purpose that Masters know and serve.

From the center that we call the race of men,

May the Plan of Love and Light be carried out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

May Light, Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

This invocation is not the property of any particular individual or group. It belongs to all
humanity. By using it or encouraging others to recite it, no particular group or organization is
favored.
The beauty and strength of this invocation lies in its simplicity and in the fact that it expresses
certain essential truths that all men innately and normally accept: the truth of the existence of a
basic Intelligence to which we vaguely give the name of God, the truth of that behind external
appearances Love is the motivating power of the Universe, the truth that a great individuality came
to earth called the Christ by Christians who
He embodied that love so that we could understand it, the truth that love and intelligence are a
consequence of the Will of God, and finally that the Divine Plan can only be developed through
humanity itself.

EDITOR'S NOTE
This publication, the product of the collaboration of various students and groups
of servers, responds to the suggestion of the Tibetan Master who says:
“... in all my writings I have disseminated for years, a wealth of information that
must be compiled and brought together as a basis for instructing disciples who are
training for an initiation” (18-269).
Like the other collections of Alice A. Bailey, The Antakarana is a book of
quotations. It requires from the reader a deep internal attention that, in due time,
will allow him to penetrate the seed ideas of the teachings transcribed in the series of
books that the spiritual Hierarchy presented to humanity through Alice A. Bailey.

THE ANTAKARANA

DEFINITION OF ANTAKARANA

HPB taught that the antakarana is mainly the energetic channel that relates the forms and their
forces with their originating sources, and that through the mental plane (and its three aspects of
the mind) the thread of life necessarily passes, linking the Monad, the soul. and personality into a
living whole. Therefore, technically speaking, the so-called bridge is not necessary, except for one
important factor: there exists on the part of the soul-fused personality a definite gap in
consciousness between the lower mind and the abstract mind. The higher mind (being the lowest
aspect of the spiritual Triad) can be considered a doorway that allows the consciousness of the
soul-fused personality to pass into a higher realm of contact and perception. Here too - as you can
see - everything is symbolic; there is no such door, but simply a symbol indicating a means of
access.
6‐75

The bridge to be built is often called a “rainbow” because it is made up of the colors of the
seven rays. Speaking specifically and from the disciple's angle, the bridge he builds, between the
personality and the spiritual Triad, is composed of seven threads of energy or currents of force; He
uses the seven rays because he has acquired the facility to do so, since his personality has belonged
(in the long cycle of incarnations) to the seven rays countless times. But the ray of his soul
opportunely predominates, and in the rainbow "the color of Its rays is heard vibrating, and the note
of its ray is seen."
18‐415/16

…The thread of consciousness (antakarana) is the result of the union of life and substance or
basic energies that constitute the first differentiation in time and space, which produces something
different that only emerges as a third divine manifestation, after the union of the basic dualities has
taken place.
18‐371

Antakarana or Antaskarana. The path between the higher and lower minds, which serves as a
means of communication between both, is constructed by the aspirant himself with mental matter.
1‐173

The antahkarana is therefore the thread of consciousness and intelligence, and the agent that
responds to all sensory reactions. An interesting point to remember and to highlight now is that this
thread of consciousness is crafted by the soul and not by the monad.
12‐156

Students would do well to consider the construction of the antahkarana as an extension in

consciousness. This extension constitutes the first definite effort made on the path to attract the
monadic influence fully consciously and finally directly. This process constitutes the individual
parallel to the current influx of force from Shamballa, which I have spoken about previously. This
elevated energy center is now producing on our planet a defined effect on the Center called
Humanity, and it is carried out by direct alignment and not via the Hierarchy, as has happened until
now.
18‐389

The Science of Antakarana is related to the entire problem of energy, but especially to the
energy manipulated by the individual and the forces through which he relates to other individuals
or groups.
12‐151

… Students must train themselves to know how to distinguish the difference between the
sutratma and the antahkarana, or the thread of life and that of consciousness. One is the basis of
immortality; the other the basis of continuity. Here is a subtle differentiation for the researcher.
One of the threads (the sutratma) links and vivifies all forms into an acting whole, and contains
within itself the will and purpose of the entity that manifests, be it man, God or a crystal. The other
thread (the antahkarana) contains the response of consciousness within the form in a series of
constantly expanding contacts within the surrounding whole.
12‐42

The Science of Antakarana, technically speaking and for group purpose, is especially the science
of the manifestation of light, which results in revelation and consequent changes. It must be
remembered that:

a. Light is substantial, and from the point of view of spirit it is a sublimation or higher form
of material substance.
b. Light is also the primary quality or characteristic of the soul in its own realm, and of the
etheric body (eventually a reflection of the soul) in the three worlds of human evolution.
c. The science we are considering aims to merge the lower lights with the higher ones, so
that a single light shines in the physical manifestation, thereby achieving a synthesis of
light.
d. Technically speaking, there are two bodies of light, the vital or etheric body, and the
vehicle of the soul. One of them is the result of eons of life, which over time transforms
into a powerful receptacle of energies gathered by a wide series of contacts, although
they are conditioned by the type of ray in its three aspects. The etheric body exists, and
it is currently functioning powerfully. The body of the soul is slowly being built and is
that "house not made with hands, eternal in heaven" referred to in the New Testament
(II Cor.5-1). It is interesting to note that the Old Testament refers to the etheric body
(Eccl. 12-6,7) and its construction, and that The New Testament deals with the
construction of the spiritual body.

12‐160/161

The Science of Antakarana must be studied in three ways

a. Specifically and in relation to the etheric body, which is a tangible substantial form and that
modern science is beginning to recognize (although it is not yet universally accepted).
b. Egoically and in relation to the soul and the “body of light”, with which the spiritual man must
act in the world of souls and which - when it has merged with the etheric body - produces the
manifestation of divinity on earth. . to a greater or lesser extent according to the extent of the
fusion and the individual's conscious recognition of the fusion achieved.
c. Abstractly and in relation to knowledge-wisdom, two words used in relation to strength and
energy, and their use by the individual in his environment and in his contacts. Reflect on these
words. You will realize how necessary it is for the ability to think abstractly to exist before the true
implications of this new science can be understood.

…The World Soul pours out its subtle thread of sentient consciousness into all forms, into all cells of
the body and into all atoms. The human soul, the Solar Angel, repeats the process with respect to
its shadow and its reflection, the personality. This is part of the creative work of the soul. But, at the
same time, the human being must also become a creator in the mental sense of the term and
repeat the process, because in all its points the microcosm resembles the macrocosm.
Consequently. Through the thread of life, the soul creates and reproduces a personality through
which it can act...
42‐156

Part of the work of the man who is developing his mental power is to construct a temporary
channel in etheric matter to eliminate this separation. This channel is the reflection of Antakarana 1
in physical death, a bridge that the Ego has to build between the lower mental and the higher -
between the causal vehicle on the third subplane of the mental plane and the permanent manasic
atom on the first subplane. Such is the work that all advanced thinkers are unconsciously doing.
Once this bridge is built, the man's body coordinates with the mental body and the fires of mind
and matter merge. This completes the perfection of the life of the personality; As stated above, this
perfection takes man to the portal of initiation - which is the sign that the work has been done, and
marks the end of a cycle of lesser development and the beginning of the transfer of all work to a
higher spiral.
3‐136

THE NATURE OF ANTAKARANA

One of the difficulties of this study is that the work done so far on the antahkarana has been
done completely unconsciously. The conception of this creative work and the construction of the
bridge has, at first, little response in the mental nature. To express these ideas we also have to
practically create new terminology, since there are no appropriate words available to define what is
meant. Just as modern sciences have developed their own, totally new, terminology over the last
forty years, so this science must develop its own particular nomenclature. In the meantime, the
words at our disposal will be used as best as possible.
My second purpose is to warn those who study these topics that in time they will come to
understand them, but at present all they can do is depend on the invariable tendency of the
subconscious to penetrate the surface of consciousness, in the form of activity. reflects, to establish
continuity of consciousness. This reflex activity of the lower nature corresponds to the development
of continuity between superconsciousness and consciousness that develops on the path of
discipleship. All of this is part of the integration process, in three stages, proving to the disciple that
all life, in terms of consciousness, is revelation . Reflect on this.
Another of the difficulties of the study of esoteric sciences, regarding what is called "conscious
development of divine recognitions" (or true perception), is the ancient habit of humanity of
materializing any knowledge. Everything that man has learned over the centuries has been applied
to the world of natural phenomena and processes and not to the recognition of the Self, the
Knower, the Witness, the Observer. But when man enters the path he must educate himself in the
process of using knowledge
regarding the conscious and self-conscious Identity, or the self-contained and self-initiated
Individual. When it is achieved, it transmutes knowledge into wisdom.
Previously I spoke of "knowledge-wisdom", a term synonymous with "force-energy". Applied
knowledge is a force that expresses itself; Applied wisdom is energy in action. These words express a
great spiritual law that you would do well to consider carefully. Force-knowledge concerns the
personality and the world of material values; Wisdom-energy is expressed through the thread of
consciousness and the creative thread, since they constitute two threads braided into a single cord.
In the disciple they represent the fusion of the past (the thread of consciousness) and the present
(the creative thread), constituting together what on the path of return is generally called
antahkarana, which is not totally accurate. The thread of wisdom energy is the thread of life or
sutratma , since this (when it has merged with the thread of consciousness) is also called
antakarana. Perhaps it would clarify the difficulty if I indicated that these threads, although they
exist
Eternally in time and space, they appear distinct and separate, until man becomes a probationary
disciple and, consequently, is becoming aware of himself and not only of the not-self. There is the
thread of life or sutratma, and the thread of consciousness; The first is anchored in the heart and
the second in the head. The creative thread, in one of its three aspects, in past centuries, has been
slowly woven by man. This fact is proven by the creative activity of man during the last two
centuries, so that today the creative thread is, in general terms, a unity with regard to the human
group and especially the individual disciple, forming a strong, compactly woven thread. on the
mental plane.
These three main threads, which are actually six, if the creative thread is divided into its
component parts, form the antahkarana. They incorporate the experience of the past and the
present, and the aspirant recognizes this. Only on the path is the phrase “the construction of the
antahkarana” accurate and appropriate. Regarding this, there may be confusion in the student's
mind, since he forgets that it is a purely arbitrary difference from the lower analytical mind to call
this current of energy sutratma, the other, the thread of consciousness, and the third, the creative
thread.
Essentially these three threads are, together, the antahkarana in the process of formation. It is
also arbitrary to call antakarana the bridge that the disciple builds from the lower mental plane - via
the central egoic vortex of force. But to facilitate a better understanding of the study and practical
experience, we will define the antahkarana as the extension of the triple thread (unconsciously
woven until now through life experience and response to the environment) through the process of
consciously projecting the triple fused energies of the personality, when driven by the soul, to
eliminate the gap that has existed hitherto in consciousness.

Two events can then take place:

1. The magnetic response of the spiritual Triad (atma-budi-manas) expression of the monad. A
triple current of spiritual energy is slowly projected towards the egoic lotus and the lower man.
2. The personality then begins to eliminate the gap that exists, for its part, between the
permanent manasic atom and the mental unit, between the higher abstract mind and the lower
mind.

On the path of discipleship, the bridge between the three aspects of the personality and the
three aspects of the monad is technically called antakarana.
18‐373/375
FUNCTION OF THE ANTAKARANA
3. Later, by building the antahkarana, the soul first develops sensitivity on the physical plane,
and then bridges the gap between the three mental aspects through meditation and service. This
completes the creation of the return path to the Center, which must be parallel to the exit path.
12‐156

Each of the four ethers, as they are sometimes called, is intended, so far as man is concerned,
to be a channel or expression of the four cosmic ethers. Today, it is very far from that. It can only be
when the antahkarana is built and acts, therefore, as a direct channel for the cosmic ethers, which
we have called universal life, monadic intensity, divine purpose and pure reason. Reflect on these
types of energy and creatively imagine the effect they produce when, in the course of time and
spiritual development, they can flow unrestricted into and through the etheric body of a human
being.
11‐125/126

The nadis in the physical body correspond to the life or spirit aspect; The nerves are the analogy
of the soul or quality aspect. What is demonstrated as their joint externalization is the endocrine
system that corresponds to the form or matter aspect. The three -nadis, nervous system and
glands- are the material analogies of the three divine aspects; They respond esoterically to these
three aspects and make man, on the physical plane, what he is. The three are also conditioned
(through the seven centers as we have already seen) by the astral or mental vehicles, or by the
integrated personality, or by the soul that begins to use the personality as a transmitting and
transmuting agent and - at the end of the path of discipleship - through the Monad, via the
antahkarana, using this self-created path as a direct channel of communication with the seven
centers and from there with the triple system of nadis, nerves and glands.
17‐152/153

It is related (The Throat Center) to the personality through the creative thread, to the soul
through the thread of consciousness and to the monad through the sutratma or thread of life. It is
not related to any of the divine aspects through the antahkarana, for that thread that directly links
the monad and the personality (and ultimately separated from the soul) simply introduces the
monadic expression of life into the head, the crown center. Direct consciousness is then established
between the monad and the personality and a great duality comes into existence. Life,
Consciousness and Form are then creatively and actively focused in the head, and their activity is
directed from the head through the two centers of the head. The ajna center only comes into
creative activity when the antahkarana has been built. In the early stages the throat center is the
creative agent, and the sacral center is active in the primitive periods. Here is something very
interesting to remember. The construction of the antahkarana only becomes genuinely possible
when the creative life of the aspirant changes from the sacral to the throat center and becomes
active and expressive. The neck is the symbol of that linking "bridge" as it relates the head - alone
and isolated - with the dual torso, which includes what is above the diaphragm and what is below,
symbolizing the soul and personality united, mixed and fused in a. The head is the symbol of what
Patanjali describes as the state of "isolated unity."
17‐120

The stage where the revelation granted to the initiate in the major Mysteries is recognized is
divided into minor phases, and it can be said that there are three, although much depends on the
initiation that is going to be received and the ray to which the prepared disciple belongs. These are:
1. The Penetration Stage consists of piercing the world of the mirage from one side to the
other, thus achieving two objectives:

a. The influx of Light from the spiritual Triad into the consciousness of the initiate through
the antahkarana, so that the Plan for humanity and the divine Purpose in relation to the
planet become increasingly clear. This begins the relationship with Shamballa.
b. The partial dissipation of the world mirage in order to clarify the astral plane and
consequently serve humanity. Each disciple who recognizes the initiatory revelation
releases light and dispels part of the mirage that blinds the human mass. The sixth ray
disciple spends much more time in the penetration stage than disciples of other rays, but
only in this world cycle.

2. The Polarization Stage , where the initiate, upon allowing the light to enter and penetrate
through the dense mists of the world mirage, suddenly realizes what he has done and adopts a firm
position, correctly oriented towards the vision (or in other words). words, towards Shamballa). One
of the things you must grasp is that the initiate is a point of hierarchical life (whether on the
periphery of the Hierarchy within the circle or in the center), he is a definitive part of the
hierarchical effort. This effort is oriented towards the greater center of
life, Shamballa. Students tend to believe that the orientation of the Hierarchy is toward humanity.
But it's not like that. It responds to human need when the demand is effective and its Members are
the custodians of the Plan; but the orientation of the entire hierarchical group is towards the first
aspect that expresses the Will of the Logos and manifests itself through Shamballa. Just as the
disciple must do two things: polarize his position by establishing right human relations and, at the
same time, be a conscious and active member of the kingdom of God, the Hierarchy, so the initiate -
in a higher turn of the spiral- must establish right relations with the Hierarchy and be
simultaneously aware of Shamballa.
The only thing I can impart here is the desired and desired point of realization, but the
phraseology has relatively no meaning, except for those who have experience to a greater or lesser
degree in the initiatory processes, in accordance with the initiations already received. This
polarization, this point of focused effort and this obtained orientation, is the basic idea underlying
the phrase "the Mount of Initiation." The initiate “places his feet on the top of the mountain and
from that height perceives the thought of God, visualizes the dream of the Mind of God, follows the
eye of God from the central point to the external goal and sees himself.” as everything that is and
yet within the whole.”

3. The Precipitation Stage . Having identified himself, through penetration and polarization,
with the Plan and with the Will of God (the key of Shamballa), he then continues - as a result of his
threefold recognition - to play his part in materializing the Plan and bringing to external
manifestation and expression, all that can of that
Plan. In this way he becomes first, a vanguard of the hierarchy (which necessarily means sensitivity
to the energy of Shamballa) and, then, he becomes increasingly an Agent of Light - the universal
Light or the Light of the Monad.
6‐230/232

Masters do not have personalities as you understand personality. Its conditioning factors are
the three aspects of the spiritual Triad that, being creators, build the instrument or phenomenal
mechanism, through which a Master makes contact with the three worlds. This means, therefore,
that the disciples must study more carefully the teaching on the antahkarana, because through the
antahkarana they make contact with the Ashrama and with the Master...
6‐647

... Those who work in the coming cycle must discard all fear and - by an act of spiritual will - not
register in their consciences the existence of that which causes fear. Here one cannot use the “small
wills of men”, but rather apply the higher spiritual will, through the antahkarana. Keeping this in
view I have given teaching on antahkarana before proclaiming the reappearance of Christ.
6‐638

OBJECTIVES OF ANTAKARANA SCIENCE

The Science of Antakarana teaches certain fundamental truths about this thread, some of which
may be enumerated as follows:

a. The thread of life comes directly from the monad or the One. This thread is inserted into the
heart during life. There lies the seat of life.

b. The thread of consciousness comes directly from the soul. It is inserted in the head. There is the
seat of consciousness.

c. The thread of creative activity is initiated and built by the human being. It is inserted into the
throat, if it has been efficiently constructed. This thread is the extension or synthesis of the two
previous basic threads. The same creative thread is triple. Man builds it slowly through the ages.
As man truly comes alive, from the point of view of intelligent perception and the desire to
express himself fully, the process practically accelerates. These three self-created minor threads,
which constitute the third thread of the antahkarana, extend over time, from:

1. The physical body to the etheric body, passing from the heart to the spleen and from there to
the body of prana, or vital or etheric body, to which the force that comes from the egoic
petals is joined.
of will.

2. The etheric body to the astral. This thread passes from the solar plexus to the heart and from
there to the astral body, extracting the energy from the aforementioned thread, which joins
the force that comes from the petals of love.

3. The astral body to the mental vehicle. This thread passes from the ajna center to the center of
the head and from there to the mental body and, drawing the energy of the other two
mentioned threads, it unites with the force that comes from the petals of knowledge.

Although these three energies are ultimately woven into a single thread, they nevertheless
remain distinct. It should be noted that the soul body is made of pure white light, while the light of
which the etheric body is made is golden.
The Science of Antakarana refers, therefore, to the entire incoming energy system, with the
processes of its utilization, transformation and fusion. It also deals with outgoing energies and their
relationship with the environment, constituting the basis of the science of the centers of force. The
incoming and outgoing energies ultimately constitute two great energy centers, characterized one
by power, the other by love, and all are
directed towards the illumination of the individual and of humanity, considered as a whole, through
the Hierarchy composed of individuals. This is basically the science of
Path.
12‐154/155

The Science of Antakarana deals with the triple thread that connects:

a. The monad with the soul and with the personality, uniting the three periodic vehicles and
unifying the seven principles.

b. The triple personality with its environment in the three worlds of human effort and then with the
other two worlds of superhuman expression (thus totaling five worlds).

c. Man, consciously creative, with the world of ideas with which he must come into contact
contact and express them through creative work, thus building the bridge of light between:

1. The world of souls and the world of phenomena.

2. The realm of subjective beauty and reality, and the tangible external world of nature.
3. Him and the other beings.
4. One group and another.
5. Later when the divine Plan has become a reality for man, between the fourth kingdom (the
human) and the fifth kingdom (the Kingdom of God).
6. Finally between humanity and hierarchy
12‐153/154

The goal that advanced disciples try to achieve not only involves contact with the soul, as the
primary objective (since it has already been achieved to a certain extent), but also the construction
of the bridge from the personality to the spiritual Triad, with the consequent monadic
understanding. and the opening for the initiate, of the Path towards higher evolution, with its
different branches, goals and objectives.
18‐379

WHO BUILD THE ANTAKARANA

The antahkarana is being built by personalities fused with the soul, or is unconsciously
constituted by those who strive to achieve spiritual orientation and stature, and is rapidly becoming
a strong cable, composed of numerous threads of living light, threads of consciousness and life. ,
which are mixed and fused in such a way that no one will really be able to say: "my thread, my
bridge, or my antahkarana", as is often ignorantly said. All soul-fused personalities are creating the
human antahkarana that will unite, in one indissoluble unity, the three aspects or energies of the
Spiritual Triad and the three aspects of the soul-fused personality in the three worlds. In future
times the words “life in the three worlds” will no longer be used; men will speak in terms of “life in
the five worlds of the manifested kingdom of God.” If you can, think today in those terms and begin
to grasp some of the significance of the truth they contain. “The Bridge of Sighs”,
beautiful oriental symbology that links the animal world with the human and leads men to the
valley of tears, pain, discipline and loneliness, is quickly being replaced by the radiant Bridge or
Rainbow, built by the children of men who They seek the pure light, "they cross the bridge towards
the serene Light that awaits them and allows them to bring the radiant light to the world of men, in
order to reveal the new kingdom of the soul, where souls disappear and only the soul is seen." .
Then that stupendous event takes place for which people fused with the soul prepare, the
exteriorization of the Hierarchy, and the reappearance of the Master of that Hierarchy, together
with the Personal that composes it; This group of liberated and active souls will appear on earth as
part of the phenomenal manifestation of the external plane.
I have dealt with this elsewhere ( The Externalization of the Hierarchy ) and I will not elaborate
on it. The outposts of that kingdom already exist and also the vanguard of disciples and initiates.
6‐355/356

… Esotericists should not take the position that all they have to do is passively wait for some
activity of the soul, which will occur automatically after having reached contact with it to a certain
extent and that, consequently and in time, this activity will evoke response of the personality and
the Triad. This is not like this. The work of building the antahkarana is primarily an activity of the
personality, aided by the soul, which opportunely evokes a reaction from the Triad. Nowadays,
aspirants are too dominated by inertia.
18‐386

Aspirants on the physical plane use the sutratma when it traverses the two lower subplanes of
the abstract levels of the mental plane and gradually begins to build the antahkarana or bridge
between the Triad and the Personality. Then the power of the Ego can begin to make itself felt.
Initiation aspirants and initiates up to the third initiation use both the sutratma and the
antahkarana, employing them as one. Here the power of the Triad begins to flow, thus energizing
all human activities on the physical plane and vitalizing the mental forms of man to an ever
increasing degree. The key to the formation of the Mayavirupa is found in the correct
understanding of the process
3‐756/757

Let us consider for a moment where the aspirant is when he consciously begins to build the
antahkarana. Behind him remains a long series of existences, the experience of which has brought
him to a point where he is able to consciously evaluate his situation and arrive at some
understanding of his evolutionary stage. Consequently, he can undertake – with the help of his
constantly awakening and centralizing consciousness – the next step to take, that of accepted
discipleship. Currently it is oriented towards the soul; Through meditation and mystical experience
he occasionally obtains contact with the soul, which happens with increasing frequency, and
becomes increasingly creative in his thoughts and actions on the physical plane. Very rarely does
he have a true and genuine intuitive experience, which serves to anchor "the first tenuous thread,
that the weaver manufactures in his fohatic enterprise", as explained in The Old Commentary. This
is the first cable, projected from the spiritual Triad, in response to the emanation of personality
resulting from the increasing magnetic power of both aspects of the monad in manifestation.

18‐

… For the disciple who has not received the third initiation, it is impossible for him to discover
his monadic ray, but any disciple who is building the antahkarana and has reached the projection
stage, must know his soul ray and his personality ray and remember that the power of both, mixed
and fused, has to carry out the act of projection...
18‐418/419

The construction of the antahkarana is definitely carried out in the case of every consecrated
student. When the work is done intelligently and with full awareness of the desired purpose, and
when the aspirant is not only aware of the process but is alert and active in its fulfillment, the work
proceeds rapidly and the bridge is built.
18‐369

Behind this, there is a third, even more important factor, WILL. Therefore, the only person who
can safely and usefully practice breathing exercises is one whose will is active; his spiritual will and,
therefore, the will of the spiritual Triad. Any disciple who is in the process of building the
antahkarana can begin to carefully employ guided breathing exercises. But, in the final analysis,
only third degree initiates, who are coming under monadic influence, can correctly and successfully
employ this way of directing life and achieve effective results. This is fundamentally true. However,
this effort must begin to be carried out, with true disciples being invited.
10‐205

WHEN IS THE ANTAKARANA BUILT

One of the essential points that students must learn is the deeply esoteric fact that this
antahkarana is built by conscious effort made in consciousness itself and not just by trying to be
good, demonstrate good will or altruistic qualities, and high aspiration.
Many esotericists believe that treading the path is a conscious effort to overcome the lower
nature and express life in terms of right conduct, good thoughts, and loving and intelligent
understanding. It is all this, but even something more . Good character and excellent spiritual
aspiration are basic essentials, and the Master considers that the disciple in training already
possesses them; Its establishment, recognition and development are the objectives of the path of
probation.
Therefore, before the bridge can be truly built and "projected on the upward path, providing a
safe passage for the pilgrim's weary feet" (as The Old Commentary says), the disciple must begin to
react in response to the closed cocoon. of the lotus or jewel, which is in the center of the open
lotus. He does this when the sacrificial petals of the egoic lotus assume control of his life, when his
knowledge is transmuted into wisdom, when his love for the whole increases, he adds to it the
"power of renunciation." These three egoic qualities - when functioning with a certain potency -
produce increased activity in the very center of the soul's life, the heart of the lotus.
18‐405

When the mental substance, or chitta, is brought into activity by abstract ideas (the embodied
thoughts of the divine mind, carrying the energy of their creator and therefore the cause of
phenomenal effects in the three worlds), and when To this is added divine understanding and the
synthetic grasp of God's will and purpose, then the three aspects of the mind are unified, which
were previously discussed and are called:

1. Mental substance or chitta.

2. abstract mind.
3. Intuition or pure reason.

They have to be unified in the consciousness of the aspirant. When this occurs, the disciple has
built the bridge (the antakarana) that unites:

1. The spiritual triad.

2. The causal body.
3. The personality.
4‐282/283

The initial step in achieving this dualism is the construction of the antahkarana and this is
consciously undertaken only when the disciple prepares for the second initiation. As I have already
said, there are literally thousands of people who are preparing, because it is presumed that all
sensible aspirants and disciples work, without deviating, for spiritual advancement (with pure
motive) and are undeviatingly oriented towards the soul, have received the first initiation, which
simply means the birth of the Christ-child within the heart, symbolically speaking. Therefore, there
will be many who are preparing to begin this task of rainbow building and who, under the influence
of Ageless Wisdom, grasp the necessity and importance of the revelation that this process imparts.
18‐398/399

What concerns us is the work carried out by the “bridge builders.” First, I can assure you that
the true construction of antahkarana only takes place when the disciple begins to focus definitely on
mental levels, and therefore, when his mind acts intelligently and consciously. At this stage, you
must begin to have a more exact idea than until now, regarding the difference that exists between
the thinker, the thinking mechanism and thought, starting with its dual esoteric function, which is:

1. The recognition and receptivity of IDEAS.

2. The creative faculty to consciously construct mental forms.

This necessarily implies a strong mental attitude and the reorientation of the mind towards
reality. When the disciple begins to focus on the mental plane (primary intention of the meditation
work), he begins to work on mental matters and trains himself in the powers and uses of thought. It
achieves a measure of mental control, and can direct the beacon of the mind in two directions,
toward the world of human effort and the world of soul activity. Just as the soul makes its way by
projecting itself in a thread or current of energy in the three worlds, so the disciple consciously
projects himself towards the higher worlds. Its energy goes, through the controlled and directed
mind, to the world of the higher spiritual mind and the realm of intuition. In this way a reciprocal
activity is established. This response between the higher and lower minds is spoken of symbolically
in terms of light, and the “illumined path” comes into existence between the personality and the
spiritual Triad, through the medium of the soul body, just as the soul came into being. defined
contact with the brain through the mind. This “illuminated path” constitutes the illuminated bridge.
It is built through meditation , by constant effort to attract intuition, by subordination and
obedience to the Plan (which begins to be recognized as soon as intuition and the mind are in close
relationship) and by conscious incorporation into the group. to serve the purpose of being
assimilated into the whole. These qualities and activities build upon the foundation of good
character and qualities developed on the path of probation.
18‐368/369

The stage of abstraction, or the period when full orientation is achieved, the path to the
Ashrama becomes clear and the disciple begins to build the antahkarana between the personality
and the spiritual Triad. At this stage the nature of the will is seen dimly and its recognition implies
that there is “a center where the will of God is known.”
17‐502

The mental plane is similar to a great stream of consciousness or conscious substance, and the
antahkarana must be constructed in order to cross it. This is the concept behind this teaching and
the symbolism of the path. Before a man can tread the path he must become the Path itself. With
the substance of your own life you must build this “rainbow” or Illuminated Path. It weaves and
anchors it, just as the spider weaves the thread by which it moves. Each of his three divine aspects
contributes to the construction of that bridge, and the time to build it is indicated when his lower
nature:
1. It has been guided, regulated and is also creative.
2. Recognizes and reacts to soul contact and control.
3. He is sensitive to the cutie's first impressions. This sensitivity is evident when there is:
a. Submission to the “will of God”, or the great Everything.
b. Development of the internal spiritual will, transcending all obstacles.
c. Collaboration with the purpose of the Hierarchy – the interpreting will of God, expressed in
love.

I have listed these three answers because all divine aspects are related to the antahkarana and
must be defined and conditioned on the mental plane. They are there expressing themselves in the
substance

1. The lower concrete mind.

Receptive common sense.
The highest aspect of nature forms.
The reflection of atma, the spiritual will.
The laryngeal center.
Knowledge.

2. The individualized mind.

The soul or spiritual ego.
The middle principle, Budi-manas.
The reflection of the monad in the mental substance.
Spiritual love-wisdom.
The cardiac center.
Love.

3. The higher abstract mind.

The transmitter of budi.
The reflection of divine nature.
Intuitive love, understanding, inclusivity.
The coronary center. Sacrifice.
18‐383/384

I would like to emphasize one point: only when the aspirant places himself definitively on the
mental plane and keeps his "focus of perception" firmly there, will he be able to make real progress
in the divine work of building the bridge, in the work of invocation and in the establishment of a
conscious contact between the Triad, the soul and the personality. The period encompassed by the
conscious construction of the antahkarana extends from the final stages of the path of probation to
the third initiation.
18‐381

After the third initiation, the “Path” is traveled very quickly, and the “bridge” that perfectly
unites the upper Triad and the lower material reflection is completed. The three worlds of the soul
and the three of the personality become one world; where the initiate works and acts, without
observing any difference,…
18‐368

… Everyone wants to advance, they have a strong internal spiritual life, but the group
antahkarana is not complete, since pure reason, which is an aspect of the heart, does not exercise
control. Consequently, the evocative power of the spiritual Triad is not adequate to hold the
personality firm, nor does it possess the evocative power, speaking from the angle of the group
personalities, which constitutes the personality aspect of the ashrama. This factor will become
powerful only when certain personality relationships are adapted and when inertia is overcome.
Only then will the “group remain.”
6‐19

The Abstract Mind is totally revealed by the influence of the first Ray of Will or Power, reflecting
the superior aspect of the will of divinity or the atomic principle; It sums up in itself, when it has
been fully developed, the purpose of the Deity, thus becoming responsible for the emergence of
the Plan. It energizes the petals of the will, until the moment when the eternal life of the soul is
absorbed by that which is neither transitory nor eternal, but endless, unlimited and unknown. It is
put into conscious operation through the construction of the antahkarana. This “radiant bridge”
or rainbow” unites the enlightened personality, focused in the mental body, motivated by the Love
of the soul, with the Monad or the One Life, which allows the divine Son of God, in manifestation,
to express the meaning of the words: God It is love and God is a consuming fire.
18‐380

… All were expressions of divine energy flowing into its mechanism, via the silver thread of
divine power. It could be considered as the triple demonstration of vertical life that is transformed
into horizontal life through creative expression. In effect, man becomes the cross. However, when
he comes to construct the rainbow (which can only be done when the man is on the Fixed Cross),
then the cross finally gives way to the line.
18‐395

It may also be said that the construction of the bridge, by means of which it is possible for
consciousness to function with ease in the upper and lower worlds, is carried out mainly by a
definitely rigid tendency in life , which leads man firmly to the world of spiritual realities, in addition
to certain directed, planned and carefully programmed reorientation or focusing movements. In
this last process, what has been acquired during the last months or years is valued and the effect of
what has been acquired on daily life and on the corporeal mechanism is carefully analyzed; The will
to live , as a spiritual being, appears in consciousness with clarity and determination, bringing
immediate progress.
18‐369

You will realize why esotericists insist so much about fusion, union or mixture, because only
when this is intelligently understood, the disciple can begin to weave the threads to build the bridge
of light that will eventually become the "Illuminated path", which will lead you to the superior
worlds of being. Thus he will be freed from the three worlds. In this current world cycle it is pre-
eminently a matter of fusion and expression (in full waking consciousness) of the three main states
of consciousness.
18‐384

…The antahkarana itself, completed by the bridge that the disciple has built, is the final means
of abstraction or great extraction. The initiate definitely deals with the antahkarana, in the fourth
initiation, sometimes called the Great Renunciation - renunciation by abstracting from the life of
form, both personal and egoic...
18‐404

HOW THE ANTAKARANA IS BUILT

In what way is the antahkarana constructed? What are the steps that the disciple must follow? I
am not referring here to the path of probation, in which major defects must be eliminated and
major virtues developed. Much of the instruction given in the past has established the rules for the
cultivation of the virtues and qualities of discipleship and also the need for self-control, tolerance
and altruism, being elementary stages that the student must consider transcended. Students have
to deal not only with establishing the character aspect of discipleship, but with the more abstruse
and difficult requirements for those whose eventual goal is initiation.
18‐368

The nature of this process could be described in the following way: I have said here and
elsewhere that the soul is anchored in the body, in two points:

1. There is a thread of energy that we call the life or spirit aspect, anchored in the heart. As is well
known, it uses the bloodstream as a distributing agent, and through the blood the vital energy
is carried to all parts of the mechanism. This vital energy conducts regenerative power and
coordinating energy to the entire physical organism and keeps the body "healthy."
2. There is a thread of energy called the consciousness aspect, or the soul's faculty of knowing,
anchored in the central part of the head. It controls the response mechanism we call the brain
and, through it, directs activity and allows the body to have consciousness through the nervous
system.
These two energy factors, which human beings recognize as life and knowledge, vital energy
and intelligence, constitute the two poles of their being. The task before you is to consciously
develop the 'middle or balanced aspect', which is love or group relationship.
18‐372/373

Students should learn to distinguish between sutratma and antahkarana, between the thread
of life and that of consciousness. The first constitutes the basis of immortality, the second of
continuity. Here is a subtle difference for the researcher. One thread (the sutratma) binds and
vivifies all forms into an acting whole, and embodies within itself the will and purpose of the entity
being expressed, whether a man, a God, or a crystal; the other (the antakarana) incorporates the
response of consciousness within the form, until reaching a series of contacts, increasingly
extensive, within the environmental whole. One is the direct current of unchanging and
uninterrupted life, which can be considered symbolically as a direct current of living energy flowing
from the center to the periphery, from the source of origin to the external expression or
phenomenal appearance. That's life. This determines the individual process and the evolutionary
development of all forms.
Therefore, the path of life extends from the monad to the personality, through the soul, and is
the thread of the soul, being one and indivisible. It imparts the energy of life and is ultimately
anchored in the center of the human heart and in some central focal point in all forms of divine
expression. Nothing exists and nothing remains, but life. The thread of consciousness (antakarana)
is the result of the union of life and substance or basic energies that constitute the first
differentiation in time and space, which produces something different that only emerges as a third
divine manifestation, after of the union of the basic dualities having taken place.
The thread of life, the silver thread or sutratma is, as far as man is concerned, dual in nature.
The thread of life, properly speaking, is one of the two threads that constitute the sutratma and is
anchored in the heart, while the other, embodying the principle of consciousness, is anchored in
the head. They know this, but I think it is necessary to constantly repeat it. However, in the work of
the evolutionary cycle, man has to repeat what God has already accomplished. It must create in the
worlds of life and consciousness. Like the spider, man weaves connecting threads and thus
establishes bridges and contacts with his environment, thus acquiring experience and sustenance.
The symbol of the spider is frequently used in ancient esoteric books and Indian scriptures, when
reference is made to this human activity. The threads that man creates are three, and with the two
basic threads created by the soul, they constitute the five types of energy that make man a
conscious human being.
The three threads created by man are anchored in the solar plexus, in the head and in the
heart. When the astral body and mental nature begin to function as a unit and the soul is also
consciously connected (remember that it is always unconsciously united), an extension of this
fivefold thread—the two basic and the three human—is brought toward the center. laryngeal;
When this occurs, man can become a conscious creator on the physical plane. From these major
lines of energy, minor lines can be radiated at will. All the intelligent psychic development of the
future must be based on this knowledge.

18‐370/371
It could be said (also symbolically) that each initiation tests the linking bridge and gradually
discovers the solidity of that which has been created under the inspiration of the spiritual Triad and
with the help of the three aspects of its mind (the abstract mind , the soul or the Son of Mind and
the lower concrete mind), combined with the intelligent collaboration of his soul-fused personality.
In the first stages of his invoking work, the instrument he uses is the creative imagination, which
allows him from the beginning to act as if he were capable of creating like this: later, when the
imaginative consciousness of as if is no longer useful to him , he becomes consciously aware of
what he—with hope and spiritual expectation—tried to create; he discovers that it is an existing
reality and knows, beyond all controversy, that "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen."
18‐366

The human soul (as opposed to the soul, when acting in its own realm, free from the limitations
of human life) is imprisoned and subject to the control of the three lower energies, for most of its
experience. Then, on the path of probation, the dual energy of the soul begins to increase its
activity, and man tries to use his mind consciously and express love-wisdom on the physical plane.
This is a simple statement of the goal to be achieved by every aspirant. When the five energies
begin to be used consciously and wisely in service, a rhythm is established between the personality
and the soul. It is as if a magnetic field is established, and both units or grouped energies, vibrant
and magnetic, are each thrown into the field of influence of the other. This happens only
occasionally, although rarely in the early stages; then it happens more frequently, thus establishing
a path of contact that, in due course, becomes the line of least resistance, "the path of family
rapprochement," as it has sometimes been called. In this way the first section of the "bridge" or
antakarana is built. When the third initiation has been received, the Path is complete, and the
initiate can "pass at will to higher worlds, leaving the lower worlds far behind, take up and
penetrate the path that leads from darkness to light, from light to darkness, and from the lower
worlds to the kingdoms of light."
18‐366/367

The aspirant finally reaches the point where the thread of life, the thread of consciousness and
the creative thread are centralized, recognized as a current of energy and used deliberately, by the
aspiring disciple, on the lower mental plane. There – esoterically speaking “stay, and looking up you
see the promised land, of love, beauty and future vision.”
But there is a discontinuity of consciousness, although not in fact. A thread of sutrathmic energy
eliminates the gap and the monad, soul and personality are tenuously related. However, the thread
of consciousness extends from the soul to the personality only in an involutionary sense. In an
evolutionary sense (to use a paradoxical phrase), from the point of view of personality in the
evolutionary arc of the path of return, there is very little conscious perception between the soul and
the personality. Man must devote all his efforts to become soul-conscious and transmute his
consciousness into that of the soul, without losing consciousness of personality. As the fusion of
soul and personality is strengthened, the creative thread increases its activity, and thus the three
threads firmly mix, fuse and come to predominate, then the aspirant is prepared to eliminate the
gap and unite the spiritual Triad with the personality, through the soul. This implies a direct effort in
favor of divine creative work. The key to understanding the process perhaps lies in the idea that up
to this point the relationship between the soul and the personality has been carried out constantly
and primarily by the soul, which has stimulated the personality in its efforts, vision and expansion.
Now, in the present stage, the integrated and rapidly developing personality becomes consciously
active and - in unison with the soul - undertakes the construction of the antahkarana, the fusion of
the three threads and their projection into "the vastest and elevated regions" of the mental plane,
until the abstract mind and the lower concrete mind are related by the triple thread.
Our studies refer to this process; The previous experience, in relation to the three threads, is
considered to have occurred logically in a normal way. The man now keeps his mind firm in the
light; He has some knowledge of meditation, great devotion and also recognizes the next step to
take. Knowledge of the process gradually becomes clearer, increasing contact with the soul is
established, and occasional flashes of intuitive insight from the Triad sometimes occur. These
recognitions do not occur in all disciples, in some they do and in others they do not. I'm trying to
give a general picture. Individual application and future understanding must be worked out by the
disciple in the crucible of experience.
18‐378

There is no initiation for the disciple until he has begun to consciously build the antahkarana,
bringing the spiritual Triad and the mind into close relationship with the higher aspect on the
physical plane, thus once again demonstrating a clear alignment and a direct channel that goes
from the spiritual Triad to the brain, through the antahkarana, which has linked the higher mind
with the lower mind.
This implies excessive work, great interpretive capacity and a lot of visualization power. I select
my words carefully. This visualization does not necessarily have to do with form or specific mental
presentations; It concerns the pictorial and symbolic sensibility that expresses and interprets
spiritual understanding, imparted by incipient intuition—the agent of the spiritual Triad. The
meaning of this becomes clearer as the work continues. It is difficult for one who begins to
construct the antahkarana to grasp the meaning of the visualization when it is considered to be
related to a growing response to what the ashramic group imparts to him, to his emerging vision of
the divine Plan, as it exists in reality. , and that which has been entrusted to him as an effect or
result of each successive initiation. I prefer the word "effect" to the word "result", because
increasingly the initiate works consciously with the Law of Cause and Effect, on planes that are not
the physical. We use the word "result" to express the consequences of that great cosmic Law when
they manifest themselves in the three worlds of human evolution.
18‐365

... Eventually this faculty invokes the energies of the mind, and the mind, plus the imagination,
transforms over time into a great invoking and creative agent. In this way the spiritual Triad is
brought into relationship with the triple personality.
In previous writings I have said that, basically, the astral plane does not exist as part of the
divine Plan; It is fundamentally a product of mirage, of kama-manas—mirage that humanity itself
has created and in which it has totally and practically lived entirely since the first Atlantean days.
The effect of increasing contact with the soul has not simply been to dissipate the mists of mirage,
but has served to consolidate and thereby effectively employ the imagination with its powerful and
overwhelming creative faculty. This creative energy, complemented by an enlightened mind (with
its ability to create thought forms), is then wielded by the disciple in order to establish contacts
higher than those of the soul, and to convert into a symbol that of which he is consciously aware.
through a line of energy—the antakarana—that is built firmly and scientifically.
18‐365/366
...But—when the foundations of good character and intelligent activity are firmly established—
something still higher and subtler must be erected upon the substructure.
Knowledge-wisdom must be replaced by intuitive understanding, being in reality inclusive
participation in the creative activity of divinity. The divine idea must become a feasible ideal, and
this ideal must be developed and manifested in the substance of the physical plane. The creative
thread, more or less prepared, must be put into active and conscious function.
Love-desire must be interpreted in terms of divine attraction, implying the correct or incorrect
use of energies and forces. This process puts the disciple in contact with divinity as if it were a
progressively revealed WHOLE. The part, through the magnetic development of its own nature,
gradually establishes contact with everything that IS. The disciple becomes aware of this totality,
through a growing and vivid expansion of consciousness that leads to initiation, realization and
identification. These are the three stages of initiation.
The thread of consciousness, in collaboration with the creative and life threads, awakens to a
fully conscious process of participation within the divine creative Plan, a Plan motivated by love
and intelligently executed.
Will-direction (a term that describes the orientation produced by the understanding of the two
processes, knowledge-wisdom and desire-love), the final orientation of the personality and soul,
mixed, fused and unified, towards the liberation of the Spiritual triad; then the conscious attempt
to use these three energies culminates in the creation of the antahkarana on the mental plane. You
will notice that in this first stage of the process I emphasize the words "orientation and attempt."
They simply point out that the initiate ultimately controls the substance.
18‐386/387

...The construction of the bridge must be carried out:

1. From the physical body to the vital or etheric body. This is really an extension of the thread
of life between the heart and the spleen.
2. From the physical and vital bodies, considered as a unit, to the astral or emotional vehicle.
This thread is anchored in the solar plexus or emanates from it, and aspiration raises it until it
anchors in the love petals of the egoic Lotus.
3. From the physical and astral vehicles to the mental body. One end is anchored in the head,
the other in the knowledge petals of the egoic Lotus, being carried out by an act of will.
18‐372

... When one has succeeded in initiating the individual antahkarana and there is a faint thread
of living energy connecting the triple personality and the spiritual Triad, then the influx of volitional
energy is possible. This can be very dangerous in the early stages, when it is not counteracted by
the energy of soul love. Only a thread of the triple antahkarana passes through the egoic lotus. The
other two relate directly to the Triad, from there eventually to the monad, the source of "triadal"
life. This is true for both the individual and all of humanity, and the effects of this alignment can
currently be seen manifesting in the world.

...Very few people, compared to the great masses of human beings, employ the results of the
triple construction of energy, within their own aura of perception and zone of influence, in order to
build and use the bridge that unites the various aspects of the mental plane. These three aspects
18‐
389
must be used simultaneously and replaced later, so that the personality and ego will disappear and
only the monad and its form on the physical plane will remain.
18‐395

But the construction of the antahkarana involves relating the three divine aspects. This involves
intense mental activity; it takes possessing the power of imagination and visualization, plus the
dramatic attempt to build the Illuminated Path with mental substance. This mental substance
possesses, as we have seen, three qualities or natures, and the bridge of living light is a combined
creation containing within it:

1. Strength, focused and projected from the mixed and fused forces of the personality.

2. Energy, drawn from the egoic body through conscious effort.

3. Energy, abstracted from the spiritual Triad.

However, it is essentially an integrated and consecrated personality activity...

18‐385/386

The man who finally builds the antahkarana through the mental plane, connects or relates
these three divine aspects, so that progressively, at each initiation, they merge more closely into a
divine expression, in full and radiant manifestation. In other words, the disciple travels the path of
return, builds the antahkarana, traverses the Enlightened Path and achieves the freedom that the
path of life grants.
18‐385

...We could reach the conclusion that the disciple's task consists of:

1. Become aware (if you can express it that way) of the following situations:

a. The process combined with force.

b. The stage on the path, or the recognition of the available agents or qualifying energies.
c. The fusion or integration of the thread of consciousness with the creative thread and
the thread of life.
d. The creative activity. This is essential, because by developing the creative capacity in the
three worlds, not only is the necessary focal point created, but it also leads to the
construction of the antahkarana, that is, to its "creation."

2. The construction of the antahkarana between the spiritual Triad and the personality—with the
collaboration of the soul. These three points of divine energy can be symbolized like this:
In this simple symbol they have an image of the task that the disciple must perform on the path.
This other diagram may help clarify it:

Here we have "the nine of initiation", or the transmutation of nine forces into divine energies.
18‐375/376
The thread of consciousness (antakarana) resulting from the union of life with the substance of
fundamental energies, constitutes the first differentiation in time and space; This produces
something different that only emerges as a third divine manifestation, after the union of the basic
dualities has taken place; It is the thread that is woven due to the appearance of life within the
form, on the physical plane. Speaking again symbolically one could say that the sutratma acts from
the top down, and is the precipitation of life into external manifestation. The antahkarana is woven,
developed and created, as a result of this primary creation, and acts from the bottom up, from the
external to the internal, from the exoteric phenomenal world to the world of subjective realities
and meanings.
This "Path of Return", by which the race moves away from the emphasis placed on the external
and begins to recognize and register the internal conscious knowledge of what is not phenomenal,
has already reached (by the evolutionary process) a degree of development in which some human
beings can follow this path that goes from physical consciousness to emotional consciousness and
from this to mental consciousness. This part of the work has been done in thousands of cases and
what is now required is to apply this power with ease and correctness. This thread of energy,
nuanced by the conscious and sensitive response, is then colored by the discerning consciousness
of the mind, which produces that internal integration that opportunely makes man an efficient
thinking being. At first this thread is used exclusively for the selfish purposes of the lower self,
progressively strengthening and becoming more powerful, as time passes and becoming a definite,
clear and strong thread that runs from the external physical life, from a point inside the brain,
directly to the internal mechanism, a thread that is not identified with the mechanism, but with the
consciousness of man. Through this thread man becomes aware of the numerous types of his
emotional life (note this phraseology) and through it he becomes aware of the world of thought;
then he learns to think and begins to act consciously on the mental plane, in which the thinkers of
the race, a group that is constantly increasing, live, move and have their being. Thus, he
progressively learns to walk the path of consciousness, stops identifying with the external animal
form and learns to identify with the internal qualities and attributes. Live the life of dreams first and
the life of thoughts second. Then comes the time when he has completed the lower aspect of the
antahkarana and consummated the first great conscious unity. Man is already an integrated,
conscious and living personality. The thread of continuity between the three lower aspects of man
is established and can be used. If I may use such a term, I will say that it extends (I try to give a
completely illustrative example) from the center of the head to the mind, which in turn is a center
of energy in the world of thought. At the same time the thread of consciousness or antahkarana is
interwoven with the thread of life or sutratma, which arises from the center of the heart. The
objective of evolution in form is thus almost completed.
Once this stage has been reached, the sensitive external search in the surrounding universe
continues. The man weaves a thread similar to that which the spider weaves so admirably. He
searches more internally in his environment and then discovers an aspect of himself that he has not
even dreamed of in the early stages of his development. Discover the soul and pass through the
illusion of duality, a necessary stage, although not permanent, which characterizes the aspirant in
this world cycle, or perhaps it should be said in this world period or manvantara. He tries to merge
with the soul and to identify himself, the conscious personality, with the influential soul. Here,
technically speaking, the real construction of the antahkarana, the bridge between the personality
and the soul, must begin.
The recognition of the above is the problem that the modern teacher faces today. This problem
has always existed, but until now it has been more related to the individual than the group.
Currently it concerns the group, since a large part of the sons of men are prepared to build this
bridge. Through the ages human beings have erected individual bridges between the higher and the
lower, but the evolutionary process has progressed so much that the time has come when this
emerging technique is understood as a group, a group construction that will lead to the consequent
and subsequent revelation. group. This offers a new opportunity in the field of education. It
indicates the responsibility of the educator and points out the need for a new approach to
educational methods. "Group aspiration" must be considered and the group antahkarana
constructed. When this is correctly understood, individual effort will not be denied, but rather it
should be taken into account, since group understanding will greatly help the individual.

Construction Technique
I intend to be very practical. The construction of the antahkarana (consciously undertaken on
the path of discipleship) is a process that is followed according to ancient and proven rules. When
correctly followed, the sequence of events and the appearance of the desired results are inevitable
and unavoidable. Much of what I could say, related to subjective realities, will have little value for
the common student, since—being facts existing and hidden in a natural process—they are still
unrealizable. My problem is to present the process in such a way that—by the end of this century—
it will lead educators to think, speak, and teach in terms of bridge-building, thus getting closer to
the basic statements that have a definite influence on the point at which we are considering. I
would like to very succinctly recapitulate some of them here, for your attention:

1. Force-Knowledge is expressed through the thread of consciousness and the creative thread.
2. These two threads are, for the disciple, a fusion of previous knowledge (the thread of
consciousness) and current knowledge (the creative thread).
3. The thread of life, or rather the sutratma, is closely fused with both. We then have atma-budi-
manas (the last being the creative agent), functioning to a certain degree, consciously, in the
aspirant.
4. The fusion of the personality and the soul is in process, but when it has reached a certain point,
it is evident that creativity or creative activity of the will is needed to build the bridge between
the spiritual Triad and the personality, via the soul.
5. The bridge that must be built is technically called antakarana.
6. This bridge must be built by the aspirant centered on the mental plane, since mental substance
(in three degrees) must be used, and the three aspects of the mind - the permanent manasic
atom, the Son of Mind or Ego, and the unity mental—are involved in the process.
18‐391/392
Six Stages of the Construction Process
I have used six words to express this process and its resulting condition. It will be useful to study
them from the angle of their hidden significance—a significance that is not usually apparent except
to the trained disciple, who has been taught to penetrate the world of meanings and to interpret
that which is not evident to the neophyte. Perhaps, by the time we have investigated these words,
the method of construction and the means by which the antahkarana is constructed will appear
more clearly.
These words define a construction technique or process of energy manipulation, which brings
into existence a relationship between the monad and the human being who aspires to achieve full
liberation and traces the path of discipleship and initiation, and can create a channel of light and life
between the higher and lower divine aspects and build a bridge between the world of spiritual life
and that of daily life on the physical plane. It constitutes a technique for producing the highest type
of dualism and for eliminating the threefold expression of divinity, thereby intensifying divine
expression and bringing man closer to his final goal. Disciples must always remember that egoic
consciousness is an intermediate stage. It is also a process by which—from the angle of the
subhuman kingdoms of nature—humanity itself becomes a divine intermediary and transmitter of
spiritual energy for those lives whose stages of consciousness are below self-consciousness.
Humanity becomes to those lives—in their entirety—what the Hierarchy is to humanity. This service
will only be possible when the human race, in sufficient numbers, is characterized by the knowledge
of higher duality and is increasingly aware of the soul and not only the self. Then said energy can be
transmitted through the antahkarana.
Therefore, we will consider the six aspects of a basic construction technique and endeavor to
arrive at its esoteric and creative meaning.

1. Intention. This word does not mean decision, desire or mental determination. The idea, more
literally, is the focus of energy on the mental plane, at the point of maximum possible tension. It
means the creation of a condition in the consciousness of the disciple, analogous to that of the
Logos when - on His much vaster scale - He concentrated within His "circle not passed" (defining His
desired sphere of influence) the substance - energy necessary to carry out His purpose of
manifestation. This must also be done by the disciple, gathering his forces (to use a common
expression) at the highest point of his mental consciousness, maintaining them there in a state of
absolute tension. You can see the underlying purpose in some of the processes and techniques of
meditation, as represented in the words, very often used in meditation outlines: "raise
consciousness to the center of the head", "hold consciousness in the highest possible point", "strive
to keep the mind steady in the light" and many other similar expressions. They all concern the task
of bringing the disciple to the stage where he can achieve the desired point of energy tension and
focus. This will enable you to consciously begin the task of building the antahkarana. Such is the
thought which actually underlies, without recognition, the word "intention", so often used by
Roman Catholics and Anglo Catholics when preparing aspirants for communion. However, they
point in a different direction, because their orientation is not towards the monad or spirit, but
towards the soul, in an effort for the personality to acquire a better character and the mystical
approach to be intensified.
When it comes to the "intention" of the disciple who is consciously building the rainbow, the
first necessary steps are:

a. The achievement of correct orientation must be carried out in two stages: first, towards the
soul as an aspect of the constructive energy; second, towards the Triad,
b. The mental understanding of the task to be performed. This involves the use of the mind, in two
ways: response to the Buddhist or intuitive impression, and action of the creative imagination.

c. The process of gathering energy or absorbing force, so that the necessary energies are confined
within a mental "no pass circle", prior to the subsequent process of visualization and projection.
d. A period in which one must think clearly about the process and the intention, so that the
dedicated bridge builder can clearly perceive what is being done.
e. Constantly maintain tension without putting undue physical pressure on brain cells.
When this has been achieved a focal point of mental energy will be produced that did not
previously exist; the mind will stand firm in the light and the alignment of a receptive and attentive
personality and a personality-oriented soul in a state of constant directed awareness will also be
established. I would like to remind you that the soul (as it lives its life at its own level of perception)
is not always aware of its shadow, the personality, in the three worlds. When the antahkarana is
under construction, the perception must accompany the intention of the personality.

2. Display. Up to this point the activity has been of a mental nature. The creative imagination
has remained relatively passive; the disciple's activity has been within his mind and on mental
levels, without looking "up or down." But it has reached the right point of tension; The reserve or
necessary reservoir of energy has been restricted within a carefully delimited "no-go circle," and the
bridge builder is ready to take the next step. At this point he therefore creates the blueprint for the
work he must perform, drawing it from his imagination and faculties, as found at the highest level
of his astral or sensitive vehicle. This has nothing to do with emotions. As you well know,
imagination is the inferior aspect of intuition, and this fact must be remembered at all times.
Sensitivity, as an expression of the astral body, is the opposite pole of Buddha sensitivity. The
disciple has purified and refined his imaginative faculties so that they now respond to the
impression of the Buddhist principle or intuitive perception – perception independent of sight or
any vision that may be recorded. According to the response of the astral vehicle to the Buddha
impression, so will be the accuracy of the "plans" projected for the construction of the antahkarana
and the visualization of the bridge of light in all its beauty and plenitude.
The creative imagination must accelerate its vibratory nature in order to affect the "energy
reserve" or the substance-energy stored up for the construction of the bridge. The creative activity
of the imagination is the first organizing influence that acts on and within the circle it does not
exceed the accumulated energies, maintained in a state of tension by the "intention" of the
disciple. Reflect on this esoteric and significant statement.
The nature of the creative imagination constitutes an active energy put in relation to the point
of tension; then it produces effects on the mental substance. This increases the tension, and the
more powerful and clear the visualization process is, the more beautiful and stronger the bridge will
be. Visualization is the process through which the creative imagination is activated, responds to the
point of tension on the mental plane and is attracted to it.
In this stage, the disciple deals with two energies: a passive one, kept within the "circle not
passed", but at a point of extreme tension; the other active, which forms images, is externalized
and responds to the mind of the bridge builder. In this regard, it must be remembered that the
second aspect of the divine Trinity is the construction aspect of form and, in this way, according to
the Law of Analogy, the second aspect of personality and that of the spiritual Triad are becoming
active in a creative way. The disciple now continues with the second stage of his construction work,
and the numerical meaning will be evident to you. At this stage you should work slowly, imagine
what you want to do, why you should do it, what are the stages of your work, what will be the
resulting effects of your planned activity and what materials you should work with. He endeavors to
visualize the whole process, and by this means establishes a definite relationship (if he succeeds)
between the Buddha-intuition and the creative imagination of the astral body. Consequently, at this
point we will have:

- The activity of Buddha impression.

- The tension of the mental vehicle, by maintaining the necessary energy substance at the point
of projection.
- The imaginative processes of the astral body.

When the disciple has trained himself to be consciously aware of the simultaneity of this triple
work, he advances triumphantly and almost automatically. It does this through the power of
visualization. A current of force is established between these pairs of opposites (Buddha astral) and
—as it passes through the reserve of force of the mental plane—it produces an internal activity and
organization of the substance present. Then a constant increase in power occurs, until the third
stage is reached, and the work passes from the subjective face to the objective reality—objective
from the point of view of the spiritual man.
3. Projection. The disciple's task has now reached a very critical point. Many aspirants reach
this particular stage and—having developed a true capacity for visualization and also constructed
through it the desired form and organized the substance that must be used in this last phase of the
construction process—they are unable to continue it. What is the reason of that? Mainly, the
inability to use the Will in the projection process. This process is the combination of will, increased
and continuous visualization and the use of the Word of Power that corresponds to the ray. Up to
the present stage of the process, the method for each of the seven rays is identical, but at this point
a change occurs. Each disciple, having successfully organized the substance of the bridge, brought
into activity the will aspect and being consciously aware of the process of execution, now pushes
the organized substance forward, so that, from the center of force which he has managed to
accumulate, there appears a line of projection or substance-light, being sent by a Word of Power, as
in the process logoic creator. In
reality is what opposite to the process of the monad, when this one sent the thread of life
that
finally I know It took root in the soul. The soul came to theexistence through this
rooting; The process later took place in that the soul, in turn, sent a thread
dual that finally entered the head and heart of the triple inferior man, the personality. The disciple
focuses on the center that he has built on the mental plane and draws all his resources (those of the
triple personality and the soul combined) and puts them into activity, now projecting a thread
towards the monad.
18‐400/404
The Projection Technique

a. The preparatory stage where consciousness focuses on the soul ray.

b. The interval where the projecting agent intensely understands the existence of the "tension
point" and the finished product of the visualization process.
c. The activity of the focused will, according to the ray, in which a line of light or living substance is
sent or projected imaginatively and creatively as far as possible from the mental unit towards
the spiritual Triad, constantly employing the creative imagination.
d. This line of light (thread or bridge) is then imagined nuanced by the two ray qualities and held
firmly aligned in the light of the spiritual Triad—not the light of the soul. This corresponds to a
much earlier stage of development, where the mind was held firmly in the light. The mind is still
kept like this; but as an agent of the soul and personality, it is no longer passive, but becomes an
active agent of retention.
18‐419

He is aware of the proportion of consciousness of his ray energy that can penetrate his
perception, this being the energy of his egoic ray and not the force of personality. He strives to see
himself as a point of a certain energy tinged by the life of his ray, and he carefully bears in mind that
the energy of his egoic ray is the principal energy by which the monad seeks to express itself, and
also that his triple egoic vehicle is a reflection of the three aspects of the spiritual Triad, being
closely related to them. This relationship, and its conscious interaction and effect, are evoked by
the construction of the antahkarana, which eventually (when sufficiently powerful) activate the
irradiation of the "jewel in the lotus."
/.../
...It constitutes a clearly planned process, basically scientific in nature, which must be carefully
followed like the procedure of any scientific investigation, in order to obtain some advanced
chemical form. The only difference, scientifically speaking, is that the entire process is carried out at
subjective levels and in the realm of consciousness, which requires awareness and concentration,
unnecessary when working in a more tangible way on the external plane of perception. At first it
seems complicated as the disciple tries to master the different stages of the process, but it becomes
completely automatic once mastered. Here is a summary of the process, up to the defined
projection point:
I. Intention, which brings focus and tension.
II. Visualization, produced by:
1. The Buddha activity of "impression."
2. The tension of the mental body.
3. The imaginative process of the astral body.
III. Projection:
1. The evocation of the Will aspect.
2. The maintenance of a triple state of perception:
a. So that the disciple is constantly aware of his own identity.
b. From a fixed point of tension.
c. From the ray or energy of your soul, in active form.
3. The correct use when starting that specific lightning energy.
4. The use of the Word of Power is the agent of your Will, when you have carried out all of the
above.

This brief classification will help you during this process where you can see stage after stage
emerge, and once you are familiar with it you can also quickly carry out the preliminary work.
18‐414/415

That is practically all I can say regarding the projection process, it is a living process that derives
from daily conscious experience and depends, to the extent possible, on the expression of the
divine aspects in the life of the physical plane. When there is an attempt to bring the life of the
personality closer to the demands of the soul and the employment of the intellect for the good of
humanity, love begins to control; then the meaning of "divine sacrifice" is increasingly understood
and becomes the natural spontaneous expression of individual intention. Then the projection of the
bridge is possible. The vibration is established at the lower levels of divine manifestation, and
becomes strong enough to elicit a response from the higher. Later, when the Word of Power is
known and correctly used, the bridge is quickly built.
Students should not feel discouraged by this description. Numerous events can take place on
the inner planes when the intention is correct and esoteric (purpose and tension combined) and the
bridge reaches the definite stages of delineation and structuring, long before the disciple realizes it.
4 . Invocation and Evocation. The three stages above actually indicate the work of the
personality. The remaining three are expressions of the response of the higher levels of spiritual
life, and apart from briefly mentioning them, I can say very little more. The task of invocation, based
on Intention, Visualization and Projection, has been carefully undertaken by the disciple who has at
least some measure of clear perception regarding the work he has done, employing the dual means
of spiritual and scientific living. and technical occult work. Therefore he is a summoner. Its effect on
life is registered at the higher levels of consciousness, being recognized as a "point of summoning
tension." This tension and reservoir of living energy, which is the disciple himself, is put into activity
through projected thought, the use of the will and the utterance of a Phrase or Word of Power.
As a result, its developed potency and radius of influence are now strong enough to evoke a
response from the spiritual Triad. We then have a progression of the antakarana aspect,
constructed by the disciple, through which the life of the soul and body can flow. The Father (the
Monad), acting through the thread, now goes out to meet the Son (the soul, enriched by the
experience of the personality's life in the three worlds), and from the higher levels a line of energy
or energy is projected. response that will eventually make contact with the lower projection. This is
how the antakarana is built. The tension of the lower evokes the attention of the higher.
18‐406/407

...There comes then a moment when, in meditation, contact is established between the two
projections. This contact is not between the soul and the personality (the goal of the ordinary
aspirant), but between the fused energies of the soul and personality and the energy of the monad,
acting through the medium of the spiritual Triad. This does not constitute a moment of crisis, but
rather a Flame of Light, an understanding of liberation and a recognition of the esoteric fact that
man is himself the Way...
18‐407

... Descending, or rather crossing this bridge, the descent can be done at will in order to serve
humanity and carry out the will of Shamballa.
/.../
... What the monad projects and what the disciple is projecting finally establish contact,
followed by the fifth and sixth stages.

5 and 6. Stabilization and Resurrection. The bridge is built. At first its threads may be fine and
tenuous, but time and applied understanding will slowly weave the bridge thread after thread until
it is finished, stable, solid and fit for use. It must necessarily be used, since there is no other means
of communication between the initiate and the One that he now knows is himself. Ascend fully
consciously into the sphere of monadic life; He has risen from the dark cavern of personal life into
the bright light of divinity; Not only is he part of humanity and a Member of the Hierarchy, he
belongs to the great group of Those who possess a consciously divine will and are Custodians of the
Plan. It responds to the impression of Shamballa and is directed by the Guides of the Hierarchy.
Thus he enjoys the "freedom granted by the three Centers"; can express at will the triple energy
of humanity, the dual energy of the Hierarchy and the One energy of Shamballa.
This, my brothers, is the goal of the disciple when he begins to work on the construction of the
antahkarana. Reflect on these questions and continue with the work.
18‐407/408

...The disciples, who belong to any of these seven rays, use the same construction technique:
Intention, Visualization, Projection, Invocation and Evocation, Stabilization and Resurrection. Of
these, the first two constitute a uniform technique for all rays, but when the Projection stage is
reached the ray techniques begin to differ; Now we will deal with these lightning techniques or
working methods, together with the seven Words of Power.
18‐412

...It must be remembered that you are not creating on the external plane. Therefore sound, or
physical sounds, is relatively unimportant. What matters is the ability to feel the meaning of the
Word of Power when it is silently uttered. It is the quality of your idea that will produce the correct
effect, and not the way in which you produce a sound with the help of your vocal cords and mouth.
18‐422
DELINEATION OF REFLECTIVE CONTEMPLATION
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ANTAKARANA
I. Points to remember.
This construction work concerns energy management. Students would do well to reflect on the
difference between energy and force.
It depends on the use of creative imagination. Students should also reflect on the relationship
between imagination and intuition and between both and the mind.
The construction of the antahkarana must be carried out with maximum conscious
understanding.

II. The six steps or methods in the construction of the antahkarana.

1. Intention.
a. Obtaining a correct orientation: towards the soul, towards the spiritual Triad.
b. The need for a mental understanding of the work to be done.
c. The creation of a "circle not passed" formed of energies consciously gathered and
maintained in a state of tension.
d. A period of clear thinking about the Intention process must be rehearsed.
e. Then, maintaining a tension point.
2. Display.
a. The use of creative imagination or the power to create images.
b. The response to the intuitive or Buddha impression.
c. Dedication to two energies:
The energy held at a point of tension within the previously created "do not pass circle."
The active image-creating energy, put into activity by the mind of the builder.
3. Projection.
a. The evocation of the will through the method appropriate to the egoic ray of the disciple.
b. The simultaneous preservation of three things in the mind:
Awareness of the fusion of personality with the soul.
Focused tension point awareness.
Consciousness of lightning energy in its will aspect.
c. The application of any method of projection of the seven rays, according to the disciple's
ray.
d. The use of a Word of Power.
4. Invocation and Evocation.
a. The fused soul and personality are now summoners and their mutual intention is expressed
in the three previous stages.
b. The response that comes after the spiritual Triad evoked by that intention and driven by an
act of will from the point of tension.
5. Stabilization.
It is obtained through the prolonged and patient application of the above four processes,
followed by the conscious use of the antahkarana.
6. Resurrection and Ascension.
The elevation of consciousness, outside the limitations of the soul and personality (from the
angle of the monad), and its entry into the consciousness of the spiritual Triad.
18‐421/422
...Physical sound will not lead to the successful construction of the antahkarana. It is the quality
of a particular type of subjective nature (the soul ray when it dominates the personality ray) that
attracts that which is even more subjective, being in truth that which does the work. It should be
kept in mind that, from the angle of the spiritual Triad, the nature of the soul is definitely objective.
This is the enunciation of a hidden reality that will be better understood when the true nature of
man (as taught in the esoteric sciences) is accepted by thinkers, scientists and psychologists.
I want to point out here that I will not give a certain word, as it would be useless. OM is of no
use to most people, although as trained students they may benefit from its use. This general
uselessness is due to the fact that people do not use it correctly, and when they do, they do not
hold its significance firmly in consciousness. The same thing happens with a Word of Power. What
use would it be to give the first ray Word of Power that (transcribed in symbolic form) resembles
UKRTA‐PKLTI. Certain sounds in this word-form have been omitted because there is no way to
describe them, since they are neither vowels nor consonants. Correctly uttered the mentioned
word constitutes three words. But I can give, as far as possible, the equivalent meaning in Spanish
and I would like you to keep it in mind when mentally pronouncing the sound or the Word of
Power, trying to visualize it to perform the esoteric miracle of building the bridge.
Therefore, the first ray disciple will have to satisfy the requirements to the best of his ability and
follow the four stages of the projection technique, as given on page 419 2- .
When you have faithfully followed the outlined routine, the fusion of personality with soul must be
consciously undertaken and to some extent realized, then these fused factors must stand firm in
the triadal light. Thus another point of focused intention is produced, resulting in a new and more
dynamic tension. In the resulting complete silence the act of projecting the antahkarana is carried
out, carried out by the impulse of a Word of Power...
The meaning of the Word of Power, to be used at this point of projection, could be summarized
in the words: "I AFFIRM REALITY." This is the approximate translation I can give you of the word-
form mentioned above. A deep reflection on these words will demonstrate that if they are
enunciated with an understanding of their meaning, they are of enormous power. The disciple who
pronounces them accepts and then affirms that:

1. The spiritual Triad is a reality.

2. The relationship between the soul and the fused and combined personality is a reality.
3. The antahkarana is also a reality.
4. The dual expression of the basic duality of manifestation—personality or form and Monad or
Spirit—is a reality.
5. The will of the Monad is the factor to evoke.
6. The One can be depended upon as a knower, full of purpose, to come into contact with the
instrument of his will on the physical plane.
7. The work has been done. This effective acceptance is not faith but knowledge and conviction,
and on such conviction, the disciple relies, acts and depends, transforming into an unalterable
and immutable attitude. The meaning of the above sevenfold statement is clearer if the disciple
meditates on the difference between faith and conviction. This divine affirmation keeps the
universe in existence; It is the personified summary of all knowledge and love, and the first ray
disciple must begin to employ this technique, relying on the divine prerogative of affirmation.
Reflect on this statement. It is the technique that Shamballa employs, and the established right,
prerogative and privilege of all first ray souls.

Second Ray... Love wisdom.

Again the two stages of Intention and Visualization have been carefully followed and the four
stages of Projection taken to a higher level. The vivid light of the second ray soul (the most vivid in
this second ray solar system) dominates the light of form and radiates outwardly into the triadic
light: a moment of intense concentration then occurs and the peculiar Word of Second ray power.
From this Word, the dual symbol SXPRULXS takes form in the mind of the disciple and signifies the
statement: "I SEE THE ULTIMATE LIGHT." This statement is related to the spiritual Central Sun and
not to the Heart of the Sun; It implies, if I may express it this way, the most intense effort to see the
relationship of the whole in the light, this being one of the most powerful experiences to which the
disciple can be subjected. It is not vision or even aspiration to see vision. It is the total vision, of
which the Masonic symbol of the "Eye of God," "the All-Seeing Eye," is the expression. It means
knowing the light of the divine face, of which the light of the soul is the pale reflection. The disciple
has learned the significance of the solar and lunar lights (lights of the soul and form), but it is
something different. It is the great light of reality itself obscuring the other lights, revealing the
reality of the higher illuminated Path that leads to Nirvana, of which the projected antahkarana is
the first stage consciously realized by the disciple.
/.../

Third Ray... Active Intelligence.

The Intention and Visualization processes were followed and the four stages of the Projection
technique were also completed. At the highest point of tension, the disciple utters the third ray
Word of Power. It is not easy for the disciple of this ray to obtain the necessary and concentrated
silence, because his great fluidity makes him pronounce innumerable words and carry out great
mental activity, frequently due to the impulse of the mirage. This diminishes the power of what he
is trying to accomplish. But when you have obtained "mental silence" and have simply become a
point of intelligent concentration, then you can employ the Word of Power with great effectiveness.
The difficulty lies in overcoming the tendency to use it with the idea of obtaining physical results in
your consciousness. He always acts from the angle of that divine quality that characterizes matter,
just as the disciple of the second ray always works from the angle of quality, and the disciple of the
first ray from the positivity of the spirit. But once he intuitively encompasses and truly understands
the concept that spirit and matter are a single reality and has managed to sublimate matter within
himself, he can only detach himself from everything that the human being understands regarding
form. Then you can enunciate the Word of Power that will make possible your complete
identification with the spirit, via the antahkarana. Such a word means: "I AM THE PURPOSE ITSELF."
Regarding the remaining Words of Power, related to the four Rays of attribute, I will only list
them, since I can say little about them. They can be understood in the light of what I have said
regarding the three Words of Power used in the Aspect Rays, and they are:

Fourth Ray... Harmony through Conflict.

"TWO MERGE INTO ONE"

Fifth Ray... Concrete Knowledge or Science.

"THREE MINDS UNITE"
(This affirms the reality that the Universal Mind, the higher mind and the concrete lower mind,
merge through the already projected antahkarana)

Sixth Ray... Devotion or Idealism.

"THE SUPERIOR CONTROLS"

Seventh Ray... Ceremonial Law or Order.

"THE UPPER AND THE LOWER UNITE"

It will be observed that in all these Words of Power two evident thoughts emerge; first, that the
goal of all activity is the total fusion of the three aspects and, second, that awareness of this is
obtained through the construction and use of the bridge between the spiritual Triad and the
Personality...
/.../
...These three stages were considered very briefly due to their abstract nature, however they
form part of the six construction methods. The first three were considered in more detail than the
last three...
18‐423/427

CONSTRUCTION SUBSTANCE
As we strive to attain some vague understanding of the nature of the work to be done in
constructing the antahkarana, it would be wise, as a preliminary step, to consider the nature of the
substance with which the conscious aspirant is to construct the "bridge in matter." "luminous
mind." The Eastern term that defines this "mental matter" is "chata"; it exists in three types of
substance, all basically identical, but differently qualified or conditioned. It is a fundamental law of
this solar system and, therefore, of our life of planetary experience, that that substance, through
which divinity expresses itself (in time and space), is karmically conditioned and impregnated by
that quality and aspects. , resulting from previous manifestations of that BEING in Whom we live,
move and have our being.
18‐382/383

In the task of constructing the antahkarana the disciple also has to work on mental levels, and
what he builds there will be of such subtle substance that it should not and cannot appear on
physical levels. Regarding this firm orientation, what he builds will "ascend to the center of life" and
not "descend to the center of consciousness or to that which has the appearance of light."
Here lies the difficulty for the beginner. He must work, so to speak, in the dark, and is not in a
position to verify the existence of what he is trying to build. Your physical brain is unable to register
its creation as a fait accompli. You have to depend totally on the proven technique in the outlined
work and act with faith. The only evidence of success can come slowly, since the sensitivity of the
brain is involved and often, when there is very real success, the brain cells are not of sufficient
caliber to register it. The possible evidence of this stage may be a flash of spiritual intuition or the
sudden understanding of the will to good, in a dynamic and
group; It may also be just the ability to understand and make others understand certain
spiritual and occult foundations; It can be the "ease of revelation", whether receptive, conditioning
or distributing, and globally effective.
18‐399/400

FORMULAS
...Sometimes (because this is also part of the soul's plans) the lunar lords are temporarily the
winners, even if death does not occur; Convalescence means the gradual re-entry of soul energy
and the subsequent control of the lunar lords. This aspect of soul energy is not that of those
energies that represent and lead to the expression of soul quality. It is the energy of life that,
coming from the Monad, passes through the soul, as a channel or means of contact; Its direct
channel is, needless to say, the sutratma. It is not the antahkarana, or the creative thread or thread
of consciousness. These are frequently inactive when there is a serious illness and the life aspect is
weakening, and quickly or slowly withdraws.

The formulas
As I said in my last instruction, the meaning and even the structure of these formulas are very
difficult to explain in words, and I have hesitated several times before briefly elucidating the
subject. Although I can tell you little about their significance, I will at least introduce the concept of
these formulas into your minds. In this way the second ray presents the ideas of the soul. It is said
that God geometrizes when referring to the activity of the second aspect and that a subtle
geometric form underlies the exoteric manifestation. These forms impart to the esoteric student
the symbolism of the world of meaning. Behind mathematics, geometric designs and the science of
numbers, which have tried (until now completely unsuccessfully) to impart the truth, but which in a
mysterious way condition creative work, there are certain formulas that - as I already pointed out -
They express significance, intention and meaning. We have spent very little time considering three
of these formulas. Generally speaking, all three condition the evolutionary process through those
forms that are the result of the correct use of these formulas, in such a way that they provide
directives. I don't know how to express it any other way. Therefore, the three directives considered
embody and express the oldest summoning call in the world (due to the antiquity of this call) and
the three formulas indicated a direction that cannot be deviated, the resulting conditions being
inevitable:

Formula I Lead us from darkness to Light.

Formula II Lead us from the unreal to the Real.
Formula III Lead us from death to Immortality.

This leads us to state the following formula and consider its meaning:
Formula IV Lead us from chaos to Beauty.

This formula is presented as a symbol that is in such constant motion that it is difficult to
describe or expose it vividly.
The researcher has before him a square or rectangle composed of an incipient kaleidoscopic set
of colors that move, pulsate and are in constant and indescribable confusion. Superimposed on the
square is a radiant sun, and a penumbra composed of the seven colors of the prism, which radiate
from the sun in regular rhythmic stripes and produce a wonderful blaze of color. In the background
of the square there appears a confusion of colors whose quality is intense and brilliant; The
beautiful design that emerges (although it seems superimposed) is translucent and delicate and of a
vivid and radiant hue. The most intense background can be seen clearly through the transparency.
This formula differs according to the polarization of the person who views and studies it. If you are
personality focused and therefore conditioned by your personality ray, a certain type of energy will
impact your consciousness; If you are aware of the soul and focus on it, another type of energy will
take effect. In this way two different images will emerge. Both will be correct, but the interpreting
agent will be different.
If this formula is carefully considered and studied over several years, it will become a key
formula by which the student will perceive aspects of the creative process, plus the revelation of
some divine objectives of the widest, most important and most abundant implication ever known.
now. I will remind you that these formulas are not symbols of what already is, but rather key forms
that indicate what can be or will be—something very different that you should keep in mind. They
are symbols of the future, not of the past; They do not represent what has happened or what is
current, but are prophetic; they reveal what is on the way, as a result of divine thought; They are
not pictorial presentations of what already is.
6‐268/269

II. The Formulas from the angle of Discipleship.

/.../
Formula 2 Concerns the superior alignment between the personality and the spiritual Triad,
through the antahkarana. It conditions the entire spiritual man.
6‐319
...To grasp the meaning of these mysterious presentations, the creative imagination must be
put into activity; It must be remembered that these words, symbols and formulas have a
progressive relationship with the initiation for which the disciple is preparing. They are like the keys
to a door and - when they are properly grasped, understood and used, they authorize the disciple
to demand entry, based on demonstrated, effective and creative work. They also show (and I want
you to observe it carefully) that in each initiation the disciple has come to grasp some great divine
idea during his life.
6‐302

Formula II It's about alignment. From the revelation of the group antahkarana. Of reality
revealed by an aspect of the mind.
6‐303

Formula Two It's about alignment. It concerns the revelation of the group antahkarana and
relates to the nature of the mind, where the antahkarana is rooted.
6‐237

Formula One "A line of fire between two igneous points. A current of blue water that is
also a line that emerges from the land and ends in the ocean. A tree that has
roots at the top and flowers at the bottom.
"Out of the fire, and always at the midpoint, appears the eye of God (Shiva).
Above the stream, between the two extremes, floats the eye of vision; a
thread of light unites both.
"Deep inside the tree, between the roots and the flowers, the eye is seen
again. The eye that knows, the eye that sees, the eye that directs — one
made of fire, one fluid like the sea and two that look this way and that. Fire,
water and earth—all need vital air. "Air is life, air is God."
6‐232/233

...I would like you to observe that this formula is related to the antahkarana:
1. "A line of fire between two fiery points"—the monad and the soul.
2. "A line arising from the land and ending in the ocean"—refers to the sutratma which, when
the antahkarana is constructed, fuses all types of consciousness, spirit and matter, into a
living whole, the final Reality.
These are some of the most obvious meanings; deeper ones will emerge when they are realities
and not speculative theories in your lives. Therefore, it will be evident that it is necessary to
definitely work on the instructions given regarding the antahkarana.
6‐236
The formula that I will present to you here is composed of three closely related words, and the
issue with which the student must concern itself refers to the type of relationship indicated—not by
the words but by the very nature of that which relates them. This is not an obvious relationship, but
the subtle, esoteric meaning that intuition will reveal and external words hide.
SUN . . . BLACK . . . ANTAKARANA

These words constitute and create, when placed in their correct order, a very powerful magical
and mantric formula. They have a tenuous but definite connection with the third initiation, but they
are not asked to deal with this aspect, but with the triangle created and the lines of force set in
motion when the correct word is found at the apex of the triangle. The key to the correct
orientation of your thought lies in the understanding of the triple aspect of the Sun, the unity of
reality and the dual nature of the antahkarana. I can't tell you more; they must wrestle with the
formula and unearth or bring to the surface its hidden significance...
6‐282

PERSPECTIVE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ANTAKARANA

Consequently, you will be able to see why those who have managed to build the antahkarana,
the bridge or rainbow between the Monad and the personality, have established a contact (not
existing in the common man) between the Monad, the Source of Life and the personality, the
expression of that Life in objectivity. The Monad then, not the soul, controls the cycles of external
expression, and the initiate dies at will and according to plan or the needs of the work...
17‐472/473

The antakarana is the result of the joint effort of the soul and the personality, consciously
working in unison to create such a bridge. Once built, a perfect relationship is established between
the monad and its expression on the physical plane, the initiate in the external world. The third
initiation marks the consummation of this process, and there is then a direct line of relationship
between the monad and the lower personal self...
18‐375

This unexpected active response has necessitated increased action on the part of the Hierarchy,
in order to counteract the consequences of any premature influx of will force. After the third
initiation, when the soul body, the causal, begins to dissipate, the line of relationship or connection
can be and is direct. Then the initiate "remains in the ocean of love, that love flowing through him;
his will is love and he can work without danger, because divine love will color his entire will and he
will be able to serve intelligently." Then love and intelligence become servants of the will. The
energy of the soul and the strength of the personality contribute to the experience that the monad
acquires in the three worlds, where he lives a life of service and where the long task of the
incarnated spiritual man finally culminates. Then he is prepared for Nirvana, which is only the Path
to new fields of spiritual experience and divine development - incomprehensible even to the third
degree initiate. This Path is revealed only when the antahkarana is built and completed and man
focuses on the Triad as consciously as he now focuses on the lower triple nature.
18‐389
...After the third initiation, the ceremonial angle disappears in your consciousness, because the
higher initiations are not registered by the mind (with its ability to reduce knowledge to a symbolic
form) and transmitted to the brain, but instead arrive to the brain and there they are registered
through the antahkarana; The results of the expansion experience are of such a definite nature that
they cannot be reduced to symbols or symbolic events; They are amorphous and remain in the
higher consciousness.
18‐436/437

...Through the activity of the lower mind, fusion with the soul occurs, and successive and
intensified points of tension; Through the activity established between the higher and lower minds
it is possible to achieve fusion with the spiritual Triad, with points of tension arising from many
stages along the bridge, the antahkarana; Through the activity of pure reason, fusion with the
Hierarchy and that which produces those points of tension that we call initiations is possible. There
are necessarily other higher points of tension, but now we will deal with what we call initiations.
18‐444

All of this is logically relative, but from the moment the disciple establishes this line of approach
with the spiritual Triad (even to a small extent), he responds for the first time to the Master's aura.
The difference between the aura of the Master and that of the Ashrama is that the aura of the
Master is dynamic and that of the group is influential; However, together they constitute the group
aura. When this initial response is obtained, one eventually becomes a disciple within the aura.
5‐692

When considering the techniques of the seven rays with their corresponding Words of Power, it
must be kept in mind that we deal entirely with the Will aspect, which requires the application of a
higher process of alignment and the evocation of a divine aspect, until now relatively passive.
except insofar as the will is reflected in the activity of the sacrificial petals of the egoic lotus, plus its
distorted shadow in the mental nature. This implies, consequently, a fairly high stage of spiritual
development on the part of the antahkarana builder; it means that there are signs of it (at least)
between the mind, the sacrificial petals and the atmic principle. It may simply be the faintest thread
imaginable, a thousand times finer than the finest gauze, but it must inevitably be present. When,
from the esotericist's point of view, this becomes a tangible fact, the following direct contact will
then be had:
When this contact is total, it means that a stage of spiritual work has been achieved, if I can
express it that way, bringing man to total alignment on the physical plane; This unification is
consummated at the moment of the fourth initiation, the Great Renunciation, when the first aspect
begins to dominate the other two.
18‐416/417

...Here it could be established that, when the antahkarana has finally been constructed, the
three aspects of the spiritual Triad will each find a point of contact in the etheric mechanism of the
initiate acting on the physical plane. The initiate becomes a fusion of soul and personality, through
which the full life of the monad can flow.

1. The head center becomes a point of contact for the spiritual will, Atma.
2. The cardiac center becomes an agent of spiritual love, Budi.
3. The throat center is the expression of the universal mind, Manas.
17‐124

The impressions received come from three sources, being sequentially revealed to man. These
are:

a. Impressions from the three worlds; They come first of all from the individual man and
then from the levels of planetary consciousness.
b. Impressions from the soul, the Son of Mind, at the level of mentality itself.
c. Impressions from the spiritual Triad, via the antahkarana, arrive when the antahkarana
has been built or is in the process of being built.
18‐485
This energy (from the human point of view) is awakened and brought into activity by the action
of the five senses, the conductors of information from the three worlds to the mental plane. It
could be said that:
a. Five currents of informational energy therefore make their impact on the concrete mind
and emanate from the astral physical plane.
b. Three currents of energy, coming from the soul, also make their impression on the
concrete mind.
c. A current of energy -during the initiation process- comes into contact with the mind. This
comes from the spiritual Triad and uses the antahkarana.
18‐486

Students would do well to learn that the process of building the antahkarana is one of the
means by which man, the trinity, becomes duality. When the task has been completed and the
antahkarana is definitely constructed – thus producing the perfect alignment between the monad
and its expression on the physical plane – the body of the soul (the causal) is completely and finally
destroyed by the fire of the descending monad. by the antahkarana. Then there is complete
reciprocity between the monad and the fully conscious soul on the physical plane...
18‐392

...Therefore it could be said that, as a result of the Initiation of the Transfiguration - the
culminating point of strictly human development - the three types of energy expressed through the
spiritual Triad can begin - only begin - to flow through the reflection of itself in the three worlds. I
will state this as follows:

1. The directive energy of the higher mind—as a result of the Transfiguration Initiation and via
the antahkarana—is released to the brain; Therefore, man on the physical plane is guided,
directed and controlled by the group purpose and the hierarchical plan.
2. The illuminating energy of pure reason, emanating from the Buddha plane, descends into the
clarified and organized body, sensitive in response, all that remains of the so-called astral
body. This produces total liberation from mirage and the creation of "a limpid deposit of such
a reasonable response to the love of the divine relationship" that the initiate becomes a
sensitive revealer of that love.
3. The dynamic energy of the atmic plane (the highest aspect of the spiritual Triad) flows into
the mind, and slowly begins to reveal the will to good, which is essentially the will of God.
18‐491/492

...The moment the disciple approaches that point in consciousness and the antahkarana is
firmly rooted (even if it is still a tenuous structure), he becomes aware of the reality of the larger
circle that includes the other two — Shamballa, the Secret place where the will of God is
formulated for the immediate present and the distant future.
18‐418

By presenting Revelation Points:

a. Current vision must become past experience. The light of revelation will fade when the
experience becomes a habit and therefore falls below the threshold of consciousness.
b. A new and totally different recognition must exercise control; This will express the
initiatory understanding.
c. These points of revelation appear when the disciple understands that initiation is not a
process of soul-personality fusion but of monad-personality integration.
d. These points of revelation become three stages of recognition:
The Penetration stage.
The Polarization stage.
The Precipitation stage.

The way in which the disciple approaches the subject of initiation differs today from that of
primitive times—even from that of fifty years ago. It is essential that you understand that this way
of approaching it is mental, not as it was until now, by devotion, emotion and aspiration. It was
kamamanasic, which means a mixture of high aspiration, attention and focus of the lower mind, and
compliance with purely physical disciplines. Currently, the true disciple who is prepared for this
great step controls his emotional mechanism; his lower mind is acutely alert and focused and his
higher mind definitely in harmony with the lower mind through the antahkarana. Perhaps you will
gain clearer insight if you understand that the conditional demands of the Initiator (up to the period
of 1400 AD) were made to establish conscious contact with the soul; Today a certain measure of
relationship with the spiritual Triad is demanded through the antahkarana, which is something very
different. Logically there must be contact with the soul, but it is not considered to provide
everything that the initiate of the new age must have. Naturally, love is necessary; wisdom must
exist, but the feeling of universality is also necessary and indicates, when present, a certain
measure of monadic affluence. This influx logically comes through the antahkarana, or through the
"rainbow bridge." Here is the reason why I have been putting the emphasis lately on the
construction of this bridge...
6‐237/238

I have said before that the astral body is an illusion. The man who has obtained initiatory
consciousness opportunely discovers that said body does not exist. When budhi rules, the lower
psychic nature disappears. When the antahkarana is built and when the mental unit is replaced by
the permanent manasic atom and the causal body disappears, then the adept knows that the lower
mind, the mental body, is also an illusion and does not exist for him...
18‐396
The second point mentioned was about the need to develop and accentuate the Will.
Presumably they have all dedicated themselves to the task of building the antahkarana, the channel
of communication between the brain and the spiritual will, or the monad, working through the
spiritual Triad. If you have achieved this, you will begin to understand the great difference between
good will, which the masses can and often do, and the will to good, the goal of every disciple. Good
will is relatively simple to express, and you all know a lot about it and demonstrate it, for which no
recommendation is necessary, as it is a human attribute that is about to be expressed in all men.
But the will to good is much more difficult to express: it implies not only the ability to employ
spiritual will, but also to know something about the nature of the "good." The will to good is the
basic quality towards the divine purpose, involving planned activity and a defined goal to be
achieved. It takes the ability to think in terms of the whole, to evaluate the next step that humanity
must take in the imminent Great Approach (for it must be a reciprocal Approach), to understand
the lessons of the past, and to possess vision, founded not only on love and in the vision of the soul,
but also in the convinced knowledge of the immediate purpose of Sanat Kumara, when carried out
through the Christ and the planetary Hierarchy, a conviction which is based, so far as the Hierarchy
is concerned, on pure reason; As far as humanity is concerned through the disciples, it is based on
intuitive perception, complemented by love and intelligently expressed. I would like you to reflect
on this, and as you do so, establish the necessary changes in your personal approach to the
problem.
6‐50/51

In the last set of instructions I summarized or synthesized all the meditations (seven in total)
given to the group. I tried to show you the sequence of crisis points in the life of the man training
for initiation. The last meditation was called: The Cross as an Expression of Vertical and Horizontal
Life, represented by two crosses:
To these two symbols of the life of the disciple I will add another, the symbol of the attitude
that they must adopt during the cycle that begins.
You will notice that I have combined the crosses of vertical and horizontal life with that of
Humanity, adding a circle at the top of the three. What does this mean my brother? It means the
following:

1. That the vertical life of spiritual contact with the ashrama is lived
constantly through meditation, prayer and concentration.

2. That the horizontal life of service is lived with the same

dedication, and that a constant flow of planned energy is
externalized toward those who need help.

3. The long appendage of the triple cross symbolically warns the

disciple that he must descend to the very depths of human life,
in order to prepare the masses for the reappearance of Christ
and the externalization of the Hierarchy.

4. The sphere at the apex of the cross represents the "place of the
disciple's conscience." His life of reflection, constant perception
and firm focus of attention is higher than the vertical life of the
aspirant and his horizontal life of service, and indicates the
measure of his conscious activity in the ashrama. Remember
that an ashrama in the Hierarchy is on a higher plane than that
of the soul.

Therefore, he lives and acts simultaneously on three levels of activity and

is in the process of demonstrating—to the extent possible and his stage in
discipleship allows—the three divine aspects; the Will aspect, which governs your work within the
Hierarchy in relation to the great future movement; the Love aspect, which governs your vertical life
and produces spiritual firmness in form; the Intelligence aspect, which governs his horizontal life
and makes him a wise servant of his fellow men. Finally, the long line that starts from the radiant
point of the spiritual focus symbolizes the Path, which also starts from the highest point reached by
the disciple to the lowest point where he provides service.
In this symbol you will also notice that the secondary focus point appears where all the lines
meet and intersect.
This point represents the personality of the disciple, into which the higher radiation must flow
and from which spiritual energies extend everywhere. If you study and think for a moment you will
also see that this cross can only be possessed correctly or symbolically by the man who has built (or
is in the process of building) the antahkarana.

If this bridge has not been erected, the aspirant's consciousness cannot focus on the ashrama or the
intuitive levels of consciousness.
6‐173/175
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ANTAKARANA...
PAST
Regarding this, it is not necessary to elaborate, since it is evident that only man, the product of
a long and fruitful past experience, is equipped to undertake the task of building the bridge. The
process scientifically involves much experience in the art of living, and only the highly trained
human researcher can, solidly and safely, build the bridge between the higher and the lower. Each
of the main human races has been responsible for the expression and use of the threads that,
together, make up the antahkarana:

1. In ancient Lemuria, the thread of life, the sutratma itself, the dominant factor in the
expression of life; The physical body, the nature of the animal form and the gross external
factor, constituted the focus of life—exuberant, productive and vital.
2. In ancient Atlantis, the thread of consciousness began to act in ways unknown to the
Lemurian era. Sensitivity, perception and – as a result – desire and reaction were the key
notes. An active sensitivity, as a prelude to full consciousness, characterized the human being.
The astral vehicle was a controlling factor. The mind was relatively passive, except in the most
prominent members of the human race. However, all humanity of that world cycle was
extremely psychic and mediumistic and also "sensitive", using the modern meaning of the
term. The state of perception was astral, and human beings—as a race—clairvoyant and
clairaudient, although they could not in any way interpret what they came into contact with;
Nor could they distinguish between astral phenomena and ordinary physical life (particularly
in the middle period of their racial history), and the interpreting mind revealed nothing to
them. They simply lived and felt. Such was the story of his life. Two threads worked and the
other didn't. The bridge was not built.
3. In our modern Aryan race —modern as far as racial history is concerned—the third thread,
the creator, comes into manifestation and is actively used. I would like to remember that
these threads have existed since the beginning of human existence and that these three
currents of energy have been inextricably present since the beginning of human
consciousness. But for most of human history, until today, man was not aware of them and
has used and uses them, almost unconsciously. The process to recognize the creative capacity
and opportunity is divided into two phases or stages:

a. The stage in which the mind principle develops and unfolds and man becomes a mental
creature. This produces the full activity of the mental unit, the integration of the three
aspects of the personality and the consequent perception of the Son of the mind or soul.

b. The stage of creative activity in which the creative thread is used to the maximum
degree. The use of the thread, by the personality - distinct from the racial use - is
characteristic of the Aryan race. Over the last five thousand years it has become
gradually the outstanding quality of humanity. In the other two races and in the
primitive stages of the Aryan race, although great monuments were created in all parts
of the planet, they were not the product of the minds of the men of the time, but the
imposition of the creative will of the Hierarchy. planetary, on those who were sensitive
to the superior impression. The sensitive response to the creative impression was the
outstanding quality of the later Atlantean consciousness and that of the early Aryan
period. Currently, it is giving way to individual creativity and, consequently, to the
conscious creation of the antahkarana, the result of the triple thread fused and mixed.
18‐393/394
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ANTAKARANA
IN THE ARIAN RACE... PRESENT

I would like to pause here and make some observations regarding this relatively new process of
building the antahkarana. It has been known and followed by those who were trained to associate
with the Hierarchy, but was not previously given to the public. It is essential that the student
observes two things: One, that if we do not keep in mind that we are working with energy, which
must be used scientifically, the entire teaching will be useless. Another, that we are considering a
technique and a process that depend on the use of the creative imagination. When these two
factors are brought together (consciously and deliberately)—the substance-energy factor and the
planned impulse—a creative process begins that will bring greater results. The human being lives in
a world of varied energies, which are sometimes expressed as dynamic, positive, receptive and
negative energies, or as magnetic and attractive forces. An understanding of this statement will
corroborate that of HPB that "matter is spirit at its lowest point" and the opposite is equally true.
The entire process consists of establishing constructive relationships between negative and positive
energies and the consequent production of magnetic force. Such is the creative process. This is true
of the activity of a solar Logos, a planetary Logos, and a human being—the only conscious creators
in the universe. This must be so with regard to the disciple who seeks to bring the monad into
constructive relationship with human expression, in the three worlds of human evolution.
18‐397/398

ANTAKARANA OF HUMANITY

...The bridge that humanity as a whole has built is composed of the multiplicity of individual
bridges, erected by the countless disciples. Therefore it is eventually formed of seven threads or
currents of energy coming from the seven egoic groups (one group for each type of ray). The
creative work of all human beings who reach the stage in which they establish contact with the
soul, contributes to the erection of this bridge. Its predominant strands of light merge into a whole,
and its lesser strands fade from view in the radiant light of the sevenfold bridge that humanity will
eventually complete.
Although this bridge has been completed—at the end of the world cycle—the light and color of
one ray will predominate, with the second and fourth rays as subsidiary. The fourth ray could be
symbolically called "the main cable" for humanity, because it is the dominant note of the Fourth
Creative Hierarchy...

18‐416

The construction of this bridge has been done in part. Humanity, considered as a totality, has
bridged the distance that exists between the astral or emotional nature, and the physical man,...
12‐45

In the numerous threads of light, woven by the aspirants, disciples and initiates of the world,
you can see how the group antahkarana gradually appears - that bridge by means of which all
humanity can be abstracted from matter and form. The construction of the antahkarana is the great
and final service that all true aspirants can render.
18‐409
It would be wise to accept the fact that humanity is now in a position to begin the definite
process of building the link, or bridge, between the different aspects of man's nature, so that
instead of differentiation there will be unity and instead of attention fluid and moving, directed
here and there, in the field of material life and emotional relationships, we will have learned to
control the mind, to eliminate divisions, and the lower attention can thus be directed at will in any
desired direction. Then the natural and spiritual aspects of man can be focused where necessary.
This bridge construction work has been partially completed. All humanity has eliminated the
gap between the emotional-astral nature and the physical man. It should be noted here that the
construction of the bridge must be done in the consciousness aspect, and concerns the continuity
of man's perception of life, in all its varied aspects. The energy used to connect, in consciousness,
the physical man and the astral body, is focused on the solar plexus. Today, speaking in symbolic
terms, many people are carrying out the construction of the bridge and linking the mind with the
two aspects already connected. This thread of energy emanates from the head or is anchored
there. Some people, logically very few, are firmly linking the soul with the mind, which in turn is
linked with the other two aspects. The energy of the soul, when linked with the other threads, has
its anchorage in the heart.
18‐369/370

…humanity itself becomes a divine intermediary and transmitter of spiritual energy for those
lives whose stages of consciousness are below self-awareness. Humanity becomes for those lives –
in their entirety – what the Hierarchy is for humanity. This service will only be possible when the
human race, in sufficient numbers, is characterized by the knowledge of higher duality and is
increasingly aware of the soul and not only the self. Then said energy can be transmitted through
the antahkarana.
18‐400
All his training concerns the construction of the planetary antahkarana, that of the system and
the cosmic, since through the antahkarana the spirit acts, the processes of life are controlled and all
aspects of the developing will of the Deity function. Remember that the planetary antahkarana links
our planet with Venus, from there it passes to the Heart of the Sun and then to the cosmic mental
plane. There are "bridges" that carry the sevenfold energies of the seven rays, from one planet to
another, from one system to another and from one plane to another, on cosmic levels. Through
these bridges the will of the spiritual Entities that are related is projected, producing that synthetic
effort that characterizes the collaborative life of the system. On our planet, the work of Masters in
training is, among other things,

things, to develop within Themselves not only the sensitivity to the purpose of the system, but the
capacity to convey that purpose to the Shamballa Council Chamber. In an extra-planetary sense, it
has a definite analogy and relationship with the group of Nirmanakayas on our planet, who work
with the antahkarana in contemplative activity, which links the Hierarchy with Shamballa and
Humanity with the Hierarchy.
In their function as planetary Logos, when their turn comes, these Masters will take care of
recording the Purpose and Will expressed by some solar Logos. Then, through the planetary
antahkarana and that of the system, They will supervise the gradual and evolutionary
communication of that Will (which is now Theirs) to all the forms through which They function on
any given planet, and by which They have taken responsibility. This involves definitely working with
the soul aspect and developing the conscious response and sensitive reaction to all higher
impressions.
18‐336

...When this Word is pronounced correctly, it produces three effects:

d. It keeps the channel free of all impediments for the descent of light of the spiritual Triad.
e. It reaches (through its vibratory activity) the center of power called the Spiritual Triad,
which temporarily focuses on the permanent manasic atom and evokes response in the
form of a thread of descending triadal light.
f. It produces a vibration throughout the antahkarana, which in turn evokes a response from
the rainbow, constructed by the other disciples. In this way the racial antakarana
continues to be built.
18‐420

However, humanity, at the current level of evolution, must primarily grasp that it must relate—
consciously and effectively—the spiritual Triad, the soul on its own plane and the personality in its
triple nature. This is done through the creative work of the personality, the magnetic power of the
Triad and the conscious activity of the soul, using the triple thread.
18‐384

...Therefore, I repeat, an understanding of the method of constructing the antahkarana is

essential if humanity is to advance as planned, and in this advancement the disciples and aspirants

The Antakarana and the New Education.

A. The practical results of the new technique will be:

1. Induce plenitude, or the ability to see life in its entirety.
2. Promote the sense of synthesis and, therefore, group spirit.
3. Develop intuition and the ability to establish contact with the world of ideas.

4. Train the will, especially the will to good.

B. The mystical results will be:

1. The development of the mystical sense and the mystical understanding of duality.
2. The recognition of a new objective that consists of:
a. Integrate personality.
b. Obtain the vision of the soul or central self.

C. The hidden results will be:

1. The achievement of unification or identification of the personality with the central self, the
soul.
2. The training of the mind will then become an intermediary between the soul and the
personality.

Education is therefore the Science of Antakarana, a Science and term that constitute the
esoteric way of expressing the veracity of erecting said bridge. The antakarana is the bridge that
man builds - through meditation, understanding and the creative and magical work of the soul -
between the three aspects of his mental nature...

PERSONAL INSTRUCTIONS TO DISCIPLES

SO THEY BUILD THE ANTAKARANA
My brother of yesteryear:
During the last six months he has made great efforts, and the work of refining the vehicles is
going on at par. He has several more months of hard work before the personality is equal to the
future demands, but his devotion and humility, his clear vision and his wisdom are of such a nature
that it may be hoped that he will succeed.
There are two aspects of an incipient mirage—faint, nebulous vestiges—that must be carefully
watched so that they do not become a thick cloud between you and the sun. I do not specify them,
because it could precipitate the cloud. The mirage does not dissipate by paying close attention to it.
It disappears through the power of clear and firm meditation, freeing yourself from self-attention.
Can you grasp the meaning of that paradoxical phrase? I mean a confusing mirage that may never
cause you any difficulties, as long as you do not seek self-recognition and love with pure purpose all
those with whom you come into contact.
Your meditation work and the focus of your attention, during the next six months, will be to
increase your knowledge of the soul. You have an interesting and unusual problem; It is based on
the fact that your consciousness moves all the time from the lower mind to the higher, but rarely
makes contact with the intermediate point, that of the soul on its own particular level. The thing is
like this my brother:

Higher mind

Soul

lower mind

By building the antahkarana at this stage, there is a gap in the soul section and you jump from
the lower triad to the upper triad, which means you have to bridge from the highest point of the
lower triad to the highest point. lowest of the highest, the spiritual Triad. Therefore, you must
carefully practice an elementary exercise—the alignment of the soul and the brain, through the
mind. Practice it for a while with understanding before your morning meditation: Make your
meditation short and quick.
5‐334

... The great need for all of you in this group is to consciously relate to each other, united ever
more closely. The construction of the group antahkarana, as part of the thread of a life, can only be
carried forward effectively in this way. Therefore, ensure that this group identification continues
with all the collaboration you can provide.
5‐354/355

In relation to the rays of your personality, I will indicate to you that the ray of the mental body
is the fourth, which makes it easier for you to respond to the light of the soul, because it provides a
mental nature that reacts easily to the second ray of your soul, for belonging to the same line of
force. It also makes your mind a focal point for the soul force in your fifth ray personality, which is
itself the mental ray. The construction of the antahkarana should not be a real problem for you.
5‐192

FINAL WORDS

The Science of Antakarana is the science of the triple thread that has existed since the very
beginning of time and unites man, as an individual, to his monadic origin. The recognition of this
thread and its conscious use as a Path and as a means of making increasingly wider contacts comes
relatively late in the evolutionary process. The goal of all aspirants and disciples is to come to
perceive this current of energy with its various diversifications and to consciously employ these
energies in two ways: in self-development, internally, and in service to the plan for humanity.
12‐154

…You must seek those new attitudes and new creative approaches, which will not only result in
the construction of the individual antahkarana but also the fusion of the innumerable "radiant
threads" that will produce those "connecting cables", symbolically speaking, that will relate the
planetary centers and they will provide the means by which the fiery will and predetermined
purpose of the Deity may pass. This will lead to the reconstruction of the manifested worlds and in
this task each and everyone can play their part.
18‐391

I am trying to clarify a very abstruse subject, and words prove inadequate. I can only outline the
process and method and encourage the consequent hope for the future; For your part you can only
experiment, obey, have confidence in the experience of those who teach, and then wait patiently
for the results.
18‐400

With this you will understand why I gave the teaching on antahkarana. I did it so that you could
build it systematically and scientifically. So I will not repeat the instructions, for you already have
them and you must follow them carefully, remembering that you have at least eliminated the gap
between the personality and the spiritual Triad to some extent and you need to complete and
strengthen the Rainbow or Antakarana now, and then use it easily.
The symbolism of the antakarana unfortunately tends to complicate the understanding of its
real nature. I would like to remind you that just as the soul is not a twelve-petalled lotus floating in
mental substance, but is actually a vortex of force or twelve energies united by the will of the
spiritual entity (the monad in its own right). plane), nor is the antahkarana a series of threads of
energy, slowly woven by the personality fused with the soul, to which the corresponding threads
projected by the spiritual Triad are joined, but it is actually a state of consciousness. These symbols
are true and living forms, created by the mental power of the disciple, but—in time and space—
they have no real existence. The only true existence is the Monad on its own plane, emerging as an
expressive and active will which, in turn, is active Love when it establishes relationships, and active
Intelligence when it uses the two higher energies. It must not be forgotten that the energy of
intelligence focused on the mind is the complementary instrument or agent of the other two
monadic energies.
6‐175

It must be observed that this exegesis of the mind and the necessary construction of the bridge
is only the practical demonstration of the truth of the occult aphorism which says: "Before man can
tread the path, he must become the Path itself." The Antakarana is symbolically the Path. This is
one of the paradoxes of esoteric science. Step by step and stage by stage we build that path, just as
the spider weaves its web. "That path of return" carried out within ourselves, is the Path that we
must discover and follow.
12‐24/25

…The most evolved sons of men on Earth have managed, to a small extent, to free themselves
from the limitations imposed by sorrow and pain, and know the ecstasy of the mystic, the
exaltation of the initiate, the exquisite agony of sacrifice or any other feeling taken to sublimation.
When this has been achieved, the mechanism of suffering and the ability to register sensory
perceptions are transcended and, momentarily, man passes to the plane of unity, where there is no
pain, sorrow, rebellion or suffering. When the living and vibrant antakarana, or bridge, has been
built, this "way of escape" becomes the normal path of life. Then you automatically avoid pain;
Well, focus your consciousness elsewhere. In the cases mentioned and where the antahkarana is
not an established fact, the thin filament of the partially constructed "escape path", being under
enormous pressure and excitement, emerges violently like a tremulous beam of light and
momentarily touches that light. which is the Self. Hence the ecstasy and exaltation. But this does
not last and is not consciously repeated until the third initiation has been passed. After that the
"way of escape" becomes the "way of daily experience" (inadequate translation of a hidden and
ancient phrase). Then suffering is gradually transcended, and the pairs of opposites—pleasure and
pain—no longer dominate the disciple.
The above constitutes the subject of esoteric psychology and, when correctly understood, will
explain:
1. The Saturnine influence on human life.
2. The cessation of the rebellion, or the end of Martian influence.
3. The construction of the antahkarana, which frees man from the control of personality life.
4. The evocation of group consciousness.
5. The consequent denial of pain and regret.
6. The entry into Nirvana and the beginning of the true Path.
15‐90/91

I will add something else in connection with the construction of the antahkarana, and that is
the significant fact that the more people who can succeed in linking the higher and lower aspects of
human nature, the more quickly the task of saving the world will be accomplished. The more
conscientiously and persistently this work is done, the sooner the Hierarchy of the planet will
resume Its ancient task and take its rightful place in the world and the Mysteries will also be
restored and therefore the world will more consciously function according to the Plan...
15‐69

Here are six hints that can be summarized in the form of questions, addressed personally to you
and no one else, that require dedication, understanding and personal answers:
1. In what way have I, as a disciple of DK, contributed to inducing the Hierarchy to establish the
necessary changes concerning the task of influencing humanity?
This would imply a high-power experience.
2. Is the will aspect in my life beginning to create situations in relation to the hierarchical Plan
that I, as a disciple, must follow?
This would involve careful construction of the antahkarana.
3. How have I collaborated with the Plan, in order to "modify, qualify and adapt it" to meet the
need I see?
This would involve a careful soul-personality collaboration.
4. As I work, do I have increasing insight into divine intent and do I practically know more than I
knew?
This would imply hidden obedience in its true sense.
5. Am I working according to an internal program and are my thoughts and activities correctly
directed?
This would imply the dual life of the disciple and the right orientation.
6. In the training I am receiving in life, do I recognize the preparatory steps for initiation and the
possibility of imminent revelation?
This would imply constant ashramic contact.

These hints are intended, therefore, to guide the disciple in training; The formulas have a
broader application and concern the group, the Ashrama, the Hierarchy and those who work with
the Plan, in the internal and external aspects of life. The synthesis of the teaching or training given
is something that you should not overlook. The unit, the individual and the part, are always
considered in relation to the inclusive and expanding whole. One of the signs of readiness for
initiation is the ability to see this inclusive entity and observe the law that is transcended when the
part becomes the whole: the disciple must also be able to practically register and respond to the
laws. main spiritual ones that replace those that were transcended. In this last sentence I have
made the seventh insinuation.
6‐301/302

...the Masters do not work at all through the medium of the lower mind... Therefore the
Masters depend on the use of the antahkarana, which the disciple is in the process of building, and
is rapidly becoming part of the group antahkarana, built by the disciples (working in the three
worlds, but on mental levels) accepted into the ashrama. . Consequently you can see why the
teaching on antahkarana was judged by us to be timely and intelligent. The relationship with the
ashrama and the contact with the Master depend on the existence of the antahkarana. In the early
stages of his creative construction, the antahkarana is suitable for establishing some contact with
the ashrama and with some of the disciples, but not with those of a high degree. Later, when the
antahkarana is perfected, higher and more lasting contacts will be possible.
The results of these developed and recorded contacts are finally manifested in the total
impressionability—at any time and without any effort on both sides—of the mind of the disciple.
His mind is so attuned to the ashrama and the ray quality of the Master that it merges with that of
the Master at the center. Then reciprocal activity becomes possible.
18‐449
...Inspiration will come only as the disciples build the antahkarana and act as the spiritual Triad
within the Monadic Life, just as they learned to contact the soul and act in the triple personality
within the soul; then came the revelation. Nothing will be gained if I continue to elucidate the
subject. Continue the work of building the antahkarana, for the light will shine on your path and the
revelation will guide your steps.
18‐223
"IN THE CENTER OF THE WILL OF GOD,
I REMAIN.
NOTHING WILL TAKE MY WILL FROM YOURS,
I COMPLEMENT THAT WILL WITH LOVE.
I AM HEADING TO THE FIELD OF SERVICE.
I, THE DIVINE TRIANGLE, DEVELOP THAT
WILL INSIDE THE SQUARE
AND I SERVE MY NEIGHBORHOOD."

"IN THE CENTER OF TOTAL LOVE,

I REMAIN.
FROM THAT CENTER, I, THE SOUL,
I WILL EXTERIORIZE.
FROM THAT CENTER, I, THE ONE WHO SERVE, WILL WORK.
MAY THE LOVE OF THE DIVINE SELF
SPREAD IN MY HEART,
THROUGH MY GROUP
AND ALL OVER THE WORLD
