Description
 3 MATERIALS
Materials shall comply in every respect with the standards listed. Any substitutions shall
be of equivalent quality and approved by CONTRACTOR and COMPANY..
3.1 Pipes
• Clean water pipe shall be either HDPE or PVC-U or Concrete with push-fit / flexible /
spigot / socket joint.
• Oily water pipe shall be Ductile Iron push-fit with Nitrile joint, GRP/GRE, HDPE or
Carbon Steel.
• Sanitary sewage pipe shall be PVC-U.
The above pipes shall also comply with the “Piping Materials Specification Class Index”
document no. UG-TIL-00-MDT1-700007.
3.2 Steel Pipes
• Steel pipes and specials shall comply with the requirements of EN 10224 and EN
10311.
3.3 Concrete Pipes and Fittings
• Both unreinforced and reinforced concrete pipes and fittings shall have flexible
spigot and socket joints and comply with BS 5911-1, BS 2494, EN 1916 and EN 681-1.
3.4 Unplasticised PVC Pipe
• Unplasticised PVC pipes and fittings shall have flexible spigot and socket joints with
rubber ring seals and comply with BS 4660, EN 1401-1 and EN 681-1.
3.5 GRP/GRE Pipe
• GRP/GRE pipes, fittings and joints shall comply with the requirements of EN 14364
and EN 1796.
3.6 High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Pipes and Fittings
• HDPE pipes, valves and fittings shall comply with the requirements of EN 12201 and
EN 681-1.
3.7 Ductile Iron Pipes and Fittings
• Ductile iron pipes and fittings shall comply with EN 545, EN 598 and EN 969
