Analysis Result:
This syllabus emphasizes the relevant vocabulary and speaking skills needed to work efficiently
in English, such as greeting (formal & informal), vocabularies for telephone, meeting,
presentation, etc. This can be seen in Week 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 13. On the other hand, this
syllabus also focuses on the practical skills related to these professions. For example, in week
3, there is a major emphasis on skills acquisition such as marketing strategy, jobs and
responsibilities, branding and logos. Further examples can be seen in the Week 4, 6, 8, 10, 11,
13. As a result, it can be said that this syllabus combines language-centered approach and
skills-centered approach. By combining these 2 approaches, students will obtain the practical
skills and knowledge required to succeed in sales and marketing in addition to developing
strong language abilities for effective communication. This syllabus is usually used in the ESP
course in Economics major university classes, for example, in the Management study program
at Ganesha University of Education, students study English for professionals focusing on
negotiation.
