1970 Gordon Moore introduces “Moore’s Law”

1982 Collen expanded NI and became visible in the health care industry and
nursing, thus technology challenged creative professionals in the use of
computers in nursing
1983 NI was published by the use of journal and was called computer in
nursing
1989 - The International Council of Nurses (ICN) began working to develop a
standardized NI language
- Graves and Gorocan first described NI as combination of computer
science, information science, nursing science that is designed to
assists in management and processing nursing data
- This also influences nursing and its ability to provide high quality of
care and to respond to the health needs of individuals, families, and
communities.
1990 -Rapid change in technology
-Development of computer hardware
-Sholves and Barber defined NI as the application of computer
technology to all fields of nursing such as your nursing services,
nursing education, and nursing research.
-Field of education and knowledge
-Hannah regarded NI as the use of information of technologies within
nursing and that are inspired by the nurses when performing their
duties. Therefore, any use of information technology, the nurses in
relation to care of their patients, administration of health care, facility or
education preparation of individuals to practice discipline and consider
NI.

1992 -The American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) is the first
founder of NI
-ANA recognized NI as a nursing specialty with a separate scope of
nursing informatics practice standard.
1995 -INTERNET
-which allows access to information and knowledge
-ANA issued the 1st credentialing
1997 -ANA developed nursing information and data set evaluation center
(NIDSEC)
-This center is used to evaluate and recognize nursing information
system
-Another purpose of this center is to guide the development and
selection of nursing system to standardize nursing terminologies
integrated throughout the system whenever it was appropriate.

2002 -“Computer Informatics in Nursing”
-Stagger and Thompson defined NI as a guide for nurses who are
interested in informatics and suggests direction for practice education,
