Here is an example of a multimodal material from social media which I happen to scroll upon
when I was browsing last night (the image at the left is a screenshot and the image to the right is the full
image). As you can see I found this quite humorous and highly relatable, as a dog owner myself I can
confidently say that if my dog could talk we would have the same conversation but instead of “porch” it
would be “bed”. Now for the guide questions. Have you ever experienced believing in a message
shared on social media that you eventually discovered to be false and misleading? What is it about?
Yes, a lot actually, it was multiple times when an “insert celebrity here” allegedly died. Why do you
think people spread false information on social media? Well the simple answer is that they want their
15 minutes of fame I guess or “clout chasing” as we call it out these days. How do you guard yourself
and your loved ones against these elements? By doing extensive research on the topic (google/
Instagram).
