Floral Wire
Floral Tape

Abbreviations (US Terms):

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
inc – increase (2sc in one st)
dec – decrease (2sc together)
popcorn – Work 5 double crochet (dc) stitches in the same stitch.
sl st – slip stitch
F.o. = finish off

Instructions:

You will need a small amount of floral tape and floral wire. You can also use any kind of wire
that has a bit of stiffness to it to serve as the stem of the flower. These work up really quick,
so if you do have to make a dozen, you can get them done easily in less than a day’s work.

Red/Pink Yarn or other Main color for flower petals

CH5, Sl st to form a ring/or You can use magic ring instead

R1: Ch3. 15 dc in ring, sl to 1st st [16]

R2: Ch3. dc in same st. repeat [2 dc in each st] around, sl st to 1st st [32]

R3: Ch3. dc in same st. repeat [2 dc in each st] around, sl st to 1st st [64]

R4: Ch3. dc i same st. repeat [2 dc in each st] around, sl st to 1st st [128]

R5: Ch1. sc in same st. repeat [ch3, sc in nex st] around. At the end, Ch3, sl st to 1st st.
Fastern off and weave the end. [128]

CALYX

With Green color, ch4, sl st to form a ring.

R1: Ch3. 7 DC in ring, sl st to 1st st. [7]

R2: Ch3, Dc in same st. Repeat [2Dc in each st] around. Sl st to 1st st.

R3-7: Ch1, sc in each st around, sl st to 1st st.

R8: Ch1, sc in same st. Repeat [Ch3, sc in next st] around. At the end, ch3, sl st to 1st st.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flower Leaves [Optional]

Using green color, leave 8-10′ yarn

Ch10, add floral wire, sc back to 9th st with wire in center, sc in each st to end, 3sc in last st.
Fold wire over and sc in each st, sl st to 1st st.

Keep crochet for another petal.

Ch11, sc back to 10 th st with wire in center, sc in each st to end, 3sc in last st. Fold wire
over and sc in each st, sl st to 1st st. Fasten off and weave in ends

Finish

With a 10” piece of MAIN color yarn and a yarn needle, weave in and out along the top of
RND 2. Pull the yarn to gather the flower into a carnation shape. Tie and knot it securely.
Send a floral wire in half and insert it into the top part of the flower and out the bottom
section. Insert the wire into the calyx to form the base part of the carnation. Use floral tape to
wrap around the wire to form a stem.
