ZIMBABWE OSCARS COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES REQUIREMENTS

FOR FILMMAKER SELECTION

HARARE, 27 JUNE 2024 – The Zimbabwe Oscars Committee has released the
eligibility requirements for filmmakers to be considered for selection onto the
prestigious committee. To qualify, a film practitioner must have a resume
showcasing at least 3 film production credits in the roles of Producer, Director, or
Cinematographer.

Filmmakers interested in joining the Zimbabwe Oscars Committee are

encouraged to submit their resumes to the Committee Chairperson at
zimoscars@gmail.com.

"This is a significant milestone for the Zimbabwean film industry," said Marc
Mandisoul, Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Oscars Committee. "Previously,
Zimbabwean filmmakers were unable to enter the Oscars for the International
Feature Film category because we did not have this committee that is approved
and endorsed by the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences in Hollywood. It is
mandatory for every country to have an Oscars Committee that selects the best
film to represent the nation in the esteemed International Feature Film Category.
This opportunity will undoubtedly elevate the global recognition of Zimbabwean
cinema."

The current Zimbabwe Oscars Committee will serve for a term of 6 years before a
new committee is introduced.
