Human Eye Notes (Class 10)
1. A thin membrane.
2. Light enters the eye through it.
Cornea 3. Forms the transparent bulge on the front
surface of the eyeball.
4. Refraction for the light rays entering the
eye occurs at the outer surface of it.
The eyeball is approximately spherical in shape with a diameter of about 2.3 cm.
The eye lens is composed of a fibrous, jelly-
like material. Its curvature can be modified
to some extent by the ciliary muscles. The
change in the curvature of the eye lens can
thus change its focal length.
Clear vision of distant objects.
Muscles relax → The lens in the eye
becomes thin → The focal length increases
Clear vision of nearby objects.
Muscles contract → This increases the
curvature of the eye lens → Eye lens
becomes thicker → The focal length of the
eye lens decreases.
