Activity Title: The MS Word Window

When MS Word opens, a new blank document appears on the


screen. You may start typing at the insertion point.

When typing, be sure to observe the following:

a) Never put two spaces together.

b) Press the Enter key only when you want to start a new paragraph
or move to the next line.

c) Press the Tab key to indent the first sentence of a paragraph.

Saving a File
After typing a document, you should save it so you can retrieve it
later.
1) Click on the Save or Save As command from the File menu, or
click on the Save button ( ) on the Standard toolbar.

2) A window will pop up to allow you to choose where to save the
document.

3) Give your document a name. Click on Save when done. Once you
do, the document will be saved under the name you gave it.

It is always a good idea to save a document to avoid possible data


loss in case of unexpected failure or other problems.

Open a document and practice typing the following.


Make sure to save and close the file. Save your file as
“Encouraging Phrases for Kids”.
