Success Story
My name is Tariq sha, son of Zalmai, originating from kandahar province's dand district. I am
married with four daughters: Norzia (9 years old), Ahmadia (7 years old), Muska (5 years old),
and Sana (3 years old). Previously, I resided on Baipas Baloch street in Pakistan for over two
decades, where I worked as an Auto driver.

Due to the Pakistani government's directive to repatriate Afghan refugees, my family and I were
compelled to return to Afghanistan. Despite the ongoing civil unrest in Afghanistan, we had
deferred our return until circumstances necessitated our departure. During our tenure in Pakistan,
we encountered challenges associated with refugee status, including the inability to enroll our
children in school due to the absence of civil documentation.

Upon our return, we faced obstacles at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where we experienced
difficulties with the FC army and endured an unexplained delay of over five hours before gaining
passage. Presently, we reside in the 15th district of Kandahar, renting accommodation while
endeavoring to secure permanent housing. I am currently an auto driver to provide for my family
and ensure the education of my three school-going children.

Upon our repatriation, obtaining Paper-Tazkiras presented a significant challenge due to our
unfamiliarity with the process. Fortunately, during an awareness session in Kandahar city, we
were introduced to Mr. Bilal Hamdard from AWSDC, to whom we articulated our predicament.
Mr. Bilal provided unwavering assistance in facilitating the re-registration and acquisition of our
E-Tazkiras through the support of AWSDC and UNHCR. Additionally, he is currently aiding me
in obtaining birth certificates for my children, Muska and Sana. His dedication and kindness are
deeply appreciated.

We extend our profound gratitude to AWSDC and UNHCR for their invaluable assistance in
procuring our Paper Tazkiras. The financial support extended by UNHCR, totaling 1500 AFG
per document, played a pivotal role in covering the associated expenses. Without this assistance,
navigating the complexities of obtaining essential documentation would have been significantly
challenging.
