Gas Turbine
The SGT6-5000F(5) gas turbine is the prime mover for the GT generator,
which produces the electrical output, and the heat source for the Heat
Recovery Steam Generator. The GT is a single flow, heat-type engine that
operates on the basis of a typical Brayton cycle. The GT design consists
essentially of a 13-stage axial compressor, a 16 can-annular Ultra Low NOx
(ULN) combustor system for gas and oil firing and a 4-stage axial turbine. The
combustion turbine is directly coupled to the generator at the compressor
inlet end.

1 Introduction
The compressor takes air from the surrounding atmosphere through an inlet
manifold and inlet casing, pressurizes and feeds it to the combustors. The
fuel is fed into the combustors and burned with the compressed air. The
resulting hot, compressed combustion gas flows from the combustion
chamber into the turbine. The gas expands and drives the turbine.

1 Introduction
The mechanical power generated in the turbine shaft drives the generator and
the compressor. The output of the generator is electrically connected to the
step-up transformer by bus bars. Output from the high side of the step-up
transformer is connected to the grid. The exhaust energy of the GT is
converted into steam in a single pressure HRSG in each combined cycle
block (20 to 60).
