The AEC gross sheet program is a tool to get the gross dimensions of a unwound sheet with a
few simple clicks. The tool automatically creates associative measurements, which are then
used to associate the gross lengths, the profile (BL.DxLxB customizable in the configuration
file), and the gross weight associatively in the attribute list of the part, as well as in the part's
expression list.
IMPORTANT:
• If the values are to be deleted, the values must be deleted from the sub-attributes
(complete attribute), the measurements from the model history (part navigator) and all
expressions (really all connected!) deleted, otherwise there are wrong links, if not all
dependent are deleted.
• IT MUST use the FB sheet for point selection and process MUST be generated in the
absolute KSYS!!
• The points MUST be on the body (no intersections outside), if this is not possible to
create, with the application Bounding Body (Home> Form element> More> Bounding
Body) an object which represents the smallest possible volume in the form of a cuboid.
Of this Bounding Body cuboid then uses the cornerstones.
Dialog
This dialog creates associative attributes and expressions by selecting points and faces that
represent the dimensions of the smallest possible gross sheet.
Description of the individual dialog elements before the complete input of all elements:
• Element selection:
4 Points must be selected:
L1 <> L2 defines the length of the gross sheet
B1 <> B2 defines the width of the gross sheet (you only need one width
so you put one of the two points on L1 or L2)
2 Faces must be selected:
F1 > Front side
F2 > Back side
With the surface normal and the distance between the two surfaces you get the
thickness of the sheet.
Material thickness is automatically calculated from the selected faces.
After entering all the points and the faces, as well as the input of the sheet number, the second
group turns on in the dialogue, to see in the Figure 3.
Description of the individual dialog elements after the complete input of all elements:
• Parameter:
Profile: consists of the length, the width and the thickness of the gross sheet.
Weight: Calculated from the dimensions shown above.
Material: Must have been assigned before the dialog is started. Just like the
weight calculation in the part properties.
ToDo
This section describes an example of how to properly operate the AEC gross sheet dialog to
get the desired results.
Point selection:
As described in the previous section, there are four points (LP1, LP2, WP1, WP2 => Figure 4):
- The length point 1 (LP1)
- The length point 2 (LP2)
- The width point 1 (WP1)
- The width point 2 (WP2)
The Figure 5 shows symbolically how the rectangle for the gross dimension looks after the point
selection. (Exemplary only, no effective solution!) The points must be on the same surface to
get an accurate result! Once the points have been selected, the next step is to select the
surfaces.
Selection of surfaces:
Generated Result
This section describes the results that the tool AEC gross sheet metal delivers.
After clicking on OK, associative measurements are generated in the navigator part these get
an automatically generated name, which must NOT be changed.
Configuration
AECGrossSheetMetal.xml
The AEC gross sheet metal tool can be configured using a configuration document. This
document is located in the application directory: The "AECGrossSheetMetalConfig.xml" file.
The adjustments should only be made by the administrators.
