Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English 7

I. Learning Outcomes
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
a. Define the noun;
b. Identify the different types of nouns and its importance;
c. Understand the grammatical function of noun; and
d. Recognize and distinguish noun, proper noun, common noun, collective noun, abstract
noun and material noun.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Review of the last lesson
B. Lesson Proper
1. Preparation
 The teacher will present a box full of small cards containing a random
examples of nouns and sentences. Then the students will v draw a card out of
the box and after five turns of picking a card the students will guess the
lesson for today.
the following words and sentences are:
1. My laptop’s brand is Lenovo.
2. Ciara
3. Alice is a handmaiden
4. Cake
5. Star City
After that, the students will now begin the guessing of the lesson.

2. Analysis
 The teacher will ask the students if they have any idea about noun.
 The teacher will let the students give their ideas about noun before giving
his/her.
 The teacher will ask the students about the their names.
IV. Abstraction
The teacher will explain the definition of nouns and elaborate further on the
different types of nouns. Each parts and definitions in the discussion corresponds
in these examples and will be flashed through the television:

o Nouns- a word that represents a person, thing, concept, or place

Example: Case, café, Television, Alice

o Proper Noun- a noun that serves as the name for a specific place, person,
or thing. To distinguish them from common nouns, proper nouns are
always capitalized in the first letter of the word.

Example: Jackson, Disneyland, Saturday

o Common Noun - a non-specific person, place, or thing.

Example: boy, dog, chair

o Collective Noun- a noun that refers to some sort of group or collective—


of people, animals, things, etc. Collective nouns are normally not treated
as plural, even though they refer to a group of something.

Example: board, choir, class, committee, family, group, jury,

o Abstract Noun- a noun that refers to something non-physical—something


conceptual that you can’t perceive directly with your senses.

Example : Sadness, Joy, Fear, Disgust, Anxiety

o Material Noun- a type of noun that refers to physical matter. It can be


either countable or uncountable.

Example: Sand, hair, sugar , salt

V. Application
The teacher will group the class and let each group create a report on how to use
the different types of nouns and distinguish its importance. They will be having
10 minutes for the preparation and after that, students will choose their
representative to report in front of the class.
VI. Assessment
 The teacher will give the students task wherein students must list atleast 10
examples of noun and 10 examples of different types of noun that was being
discussed earlier.

VII. Assignment
 Answer the following by determining the types of nouns. Write your answer in
the space provided below.
