Sub: Trial of modified resetting logic of VCD provided with CCB brake system of M/s KBIL.
Ref: i) Railway Board’s letter no. 2023/Elect(TRS)/440/7/(3435196) dt.12.06.2024.
ii) This office mail dt. 07.06.2024.
iii) M/s KBIL mail dt. 14.06.2024.

1) Railway Board vide letter at ref(i) above requested RDSO to explore the possibility of making VCD reset even from
two different switches alternatively to eliminate possibility of rhythmic operation of foot operated switch.
2) To disrupt this routine and enhance alertness, it has been proposed that the Two successive acknowledgments of
the VCD be made using the Vigilance Pedal Switch and subsequent TWO acknowledgments of VCD shall be from
TE/BE movement or PSA.
3) M/s KBIL was requested vide mail at ref(i) above, to examine the requirement and suggest modification in their
VCD.
4) M/s KBIL vide mail at ref(ii) above, has confirmed possibility changes in the acknowledgement sequence of VCD
as per the requirement. Changes in the Acknowledgement by Vig Foot Switch (Vig Ack 2) – 2 times, then Vig
Acknowledgement through Intermittent activity of Master Controller/Sanding Foot Switch (Vig Ack 1) – 2 times and
again Acknowledgement by Vig Foot Switch (Vig Ack 2)–2 times.
5) In view of the above, the clearance is accorded for field trial of one modified unit of VCD with above changes in one
3-ph loco of ELS/TKD of WCR. RDSO & M/s KBIL will associate in the field trial. Accordingly, availability of
modified VCD, locomotive & date of fitment may be communicated to RDSO.
