ORHB - Institutional Guide - For Pharmacy Level II-IV Training Program
ORHB - Institutional Guide - For Pharmacy Level II-IV Training Program
December 2017
Preface
The provision of health care service is dependent on the team work and professional activities of
multidisciplinary health care professionals. With regard to the expansion of health institutions across
the country and limited capacity of the teaching institutions to produce adequate number of health
professionals, a critical shortage of health care professionals has occurred in the health sector.
Based on this an outcome based model curriculum for Pharmacy Level II-IV training program
was developed in October, 2017.
The key features of the outcome based curriculum include the use of variety of teaching/learning
methods, repeated exposure of trainees to skill laboratories, practical attachment/cooperative training
and the delivery of the training in standardized learning modules (information sheets) and skill lab
manual/checklists (Operation sheets).
To standardize and ensure delivery of quality education and training of Pharmacy Level II-IV
training program based on the outcome based curriculum, a total of 21 learning Modules and skill
lab manuals were developed in December, 2017.
These modules were developed by group of experts from higher teaching institutions in Oromia
region. Furthermore, to guide institutions and trainers in implementation of the training program,
trainer guide was developed at the same time.
This institutional guide provides the overall guidance on sequencing and nominal durations of the
training from Level II-IV.
