Vocabulary

When you drink a toast to someone or something, you drink some wine or another alcoholic drink as
a symbolic gesture, in order to show your appreciation of them or to wish them success.

Example - The host drank a toast to each guest in turn.

Extinguish – put off something burning or shining.

Reward (prize/award) - a thing given in recognition of service, effort, or achievement.

Trip/stumble/slip -catch one's foot on something and stumble or

fall.

Stinks- have a strong unpleasant smell.

Deride – mock, laugh at, ridicule

Ridiculous – Hilarious/illogical/absurd/FUNNY
Boulder - a large rock

Waffles - Ogre – Man eating giant

Eviction- the act of expelling someone from a property

Whimpering - the making of low, feeble sounds expressive of fear, pain, or unhappiness.

Technically- according to the facts or exact meaning of something; strictly. Use this word where
you want to suggest a distinction between what is true in theory and in practice .

Example: "Although many residents set off fireworks in July without a problem, technically it is illegal."

Technically, a nut is a single-seeded fruit

Bachelor- a man who is not and has never been married. Ex- He chooses to remain a bachelor.

statements.

Ex - “Last but not least, I'd like to introduce my grandmother, Rosie.”

Compensate - give (someone) something, typically money, in recognition of loss, suffering, or injury
incurred /making up for services rendered.

An example of compensate is when you pay the guy who mowed your lawn. An example of
compensate is when you make your wife angry and you compensate for your bad behavior by doing
something very nice. An example of compensate is when you injure someone in a car accident and you
pay their medical bills.

Turnstile - A turnstile is a form of gate which allows one person to pass at a time.

You use and so on or and so forth at the end of a list to indicate that there are
other items that you could also mention.
