BRADFORD-ON-AVON
TICKET OFFICE TO CLOSE
----o-0-o----

On July 5th the Rail Delivery Group announced a proposal to

make major changes to station ticket offices. GWR have said
that they will "move ticket office staff into other areas of the
station where they can help more customers" which means
the closure of the ticket office. Staff would not sell tickets,
but assist customers in using the ticket vending machine or
in buying tickets using their smartphones. As a rail users
group we strongly object to these proposals as ticket office
staff do so much more than just sell tickets. Not everyone
can use the ticket machine or has a smartphone. The ticket
machine doesn’t give travel advice, best fares, and is often
not working. Try using it on a sunny afternoon! The next
move is likely to be dispensing with staff altogether.

We are sending our objections to Transport Focus who have

been appointed to gather responses to the proposals and
have opened a 21 day consultation ending on 26th July 2023.

The town council have started an online petition collecting

signatures of those opposed to the closure – the link is:
