THE BURGEONS SELF HELP GROUP

CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT AS AT 8TH JUNE 2024

The burgeons self-help group is driven and governed by our constitution. Following a meeting held on
the 8th of June 2024, members agreed to amend the current constitution with following clauses.

In line with our constitution, we can only change it with a 2/3 majority, hence the following members
were present:

CLOUSE 01/08/2024

BANK ACCOUNT

i. Members agreed to open another bank account to handle the

investment transactions.
ii. TheUNITUS SACCO bank account will remain as the payment point for
all our contribution.
CLOUSE 02/08/2024

DEATH

a) In the event of the demise of a principal member, the group agreed to

change the members contribution from the current Kshs. 1,000/- (one
thousand) to Kshs. 4,200/- per member. The total amount the next of kin
should receive is Kshs. 100,800/- (one hundred thousand, eight hundred
shillings).
b) In the event of the demise of a member parent or parent in-law, members
agreed to change contribution from the current figure; Kshs 1,000/- to Kshs
2,000/- (two thousand) per member.

CLOUSE 03/08/2024

CONTRIBUTIONS
a. Members added the Clouse in our constitution that no members should
be behind by more than a month. That translates to ksh.2000/- and in
line with the constitution, if a member is in default of this, he or she
should get a warning letter.
b. Another Clouse was introduced, that all members served with warning
letters should respond the same by writing back to the secretary and
explain the reasons for the default.

a) RURACIO contribution will remain Kshs. 1,000/

CLOUSE 05/08/2024

NEXT OF KIN
a) Members agreed that the next of kin is not a member of the chama and can only
receive payment/ divided of a chama member in case of a demise of the member.
b) Incase of a demise of member, he or she will be given 100% refund of the savings
and if the chama has some investment, the net worth should be calculated at the
current value and given to the next of kin.
c) If the chama has an ongoing investment, the next of kin can be given the option of
his or her share being bought off or continue to receive the divided. However, the
next of kin cannot be a chama member, but can only receive divided of an ongoing
project.

NEW MEMBERS
a) Members also concluded that new members who join the chama are not entitled to
benefit from the projects and investment that are already established by members.
He or she can only enjoy investment created after he has joined the chama.

CLOUSE 07/08/2024

WELFARE CONTRIBUTION AND FINES

a. Members agreed that the welfare monthly contribution to remain at Kshs. 500/-
and should be paid at the end of every month I.e. 30th of every month.
b. The members introduced of Kshs. 100/- incase of failure to contribute.

NHIF

The members passed that it’s a mandatory to have the NHIF ACTIVE FOR ALL MEMBERS
