What happens at the end of your Fixed Price Energy Plan
Around 60 days before the end of your plan, we'll send details of your options and prices.
If you do nothing, at the end of your contract, you'll move onto our Variable Price Plan. For more information
visit britishgas.co.uk/business/variableplan
If you're happy to stay with us, we can agree another energy plan with you.
But if you decide to leave us at the end of your energy plan, you'll need to pay all your outstanding bills before switching. Please
remember we may stop you from moving to another supplier until your balance is paid in full.

Stay on top of your energy usage


We'll be in touch soon to arrange installation of your smart meter. It only takes an hour to install and what's even better is
that we can replace your old electricity meter with a new smart meter for free.
What to expect on the day
When we come to install your smart meter, we'll need:
• Someone to meet the engineer on site and who knows where the meter is located
• Clear access to the old meter to replace it with your new one
• To be allowed to turn off the power for around 45 minutes during the installation
• A smart meter will be installed once you're on supply

Our installation partners will be in touch to arrange the smart meter installation.

When you have a smart meter


The consumption data from your smart meter can tell you useful information about how your business uses energy. Once
connected you won’t need to provide meter readings and you’ll receive accurate bills, so you only pay for what you use.
We’ll obtain daily or half hourly consumption data from your smart meter and may use this data for commercial insight purposes;
for example, to develop new products and services for you and other customers. We may also use this data to let you know about
energy saving opportunities that could help your business. You can also request your half hourly consumption data for the past 12
months.
We will never provide your consumption data to any third party without your express permission, unless required by law; or
regulation; or non-statutory guidance; or meet the government’s commitment to reduce emissions; or reduce your energy
consumption; or be exempted by the Data Protection Act 2018. For more information and ways to save energy, please visit
