Community Outreach
Villa Anita, Aurora Subdivision

A culminating activity proposed by

the Grade 12 students under the

Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand


I. Description

Title: BUGNAW (BUliG sa ma-Init Nga AdlaW)


Community: Villa Anita, Aurora Subdivision

● The learners can interact with the young individuals (9-14 years old) and
mothers.
● 5 minutes walk from San Agustin and at the back of Aurora Subdivision.
● It has been one of the areas of the Tawili Foundation (a Catholic institution) for
their catechism where they would invite volunteers to give catechism (through
bible stories) to children.
● The parents have just started a new livelihood program where they are taught
how to make atsara and sell them.
● The population that we will cater to are 10 children and 10 mothers.

II. Outcomes/Value Focus

Vision

A vibrant and inclusive outreach where every individual feels valued, supported, and
connected within the community of Villa Anita. BUGNAW (BUliG sa ma-Init Nga AdlaW)
envisions itself as an opportunity for mothers to gain resilience, self-confidence, and a
sense of belonging by striving to break down barriers and help these mothers to keep
hope in their abilities to build brighter futures for themselves and their children in working
collaboration with the youth through a collective passion for service. BUGNAW (BUliG
sa ma-Init Nga AdlaW) sees itself as an oasis of help amidst the El Nino heat and a
beacon of assistance through life's tribulations.

Mission

As Assumption Iloilo learners and youth navigating through the challenges of growing
up, the Grade 12-HUMSS learners through BUGNAW (BUliG sa ma-Init Nga AdlaW)
aim to help in providing opportunities for their fellow youth, especially the mothers of
Villa Anita, Aurora Subdivision, with empowering inspiration and support. Through
engaging and motivating activities and heartfelt donations, BUGNAW (BUliG sa ma--Init
Nga AdlaW) aims to concretely live out the Assumption Pillar of Social Responsibility
through this school year’s theme: Believe in the Good, Be the Good to spread
encouragement and hope for the mothers and their children to rise above life’s
challenges.
III. Implementation

Communications Committee. The Communications Committee is tasked with


directly communicating with the community through contact persons for planning,
scheduling, and other related matters. They are also responsible for finding
affordable resources and suppliers for the needs of the other committees. As
such, they are also tasked with handling the finances of the group with regards to
joint payments in fares, orders, etc. Any form of financial partnership and
sponsorship is also handled by them.

Documentations Committee. The Documentations Committee is tasked with


providing and using the necessary gadgets or devices for recording and
documenting the outreach program as well as the preparations and post-
outreach processes. Additionally, they are in charge of noting down the
happenings of the program as well as those who took charge of certain activities
for future references. They are also in charge of securing and storing the photos,
notes, and recordings and in allowing access to the necessary people as well as
the incoming Grade 12-HUMSS learners who wish to view documentations as a
reference in planning their community outreach program.

Programs Committee. The Programs Committee is tasked with creating an


engaging, appropriate, and a feasible program plan for the chosen community.
They are in charge of the needed materials, budget, and program flow. In
addition, they are responsible for monitoring the program implementation,
ensuring the effectiveness of planned activities, and providing recommendations
for future community outreach programs of the incoming Grade 12 learners in the
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand.

B. Tentative Program Schedule

The activity will be conducted on May 11 (Saturday) from 12:30 - 4:00 PM.
Venue: The Street Along the Daycare of the Tawili Foundation (Road will be
Blocked)

C. Games and Mechanics
Newspaper Dance
Head: Ericka Jalandoni

1. This game will be done in pairs. Each mother should pair up with their kid.
2. Each pair will be given a newspaper.
3. When the music is playing, the players will dance around the newspaper.
4. Every time the music stops, the pair will step onto their shared newspaper
together.
5. The players are not allowed to touch the ground outside the newspaper. If
the players are found touching the ground, they will be disqualified.
6. Players are allowed to lift their partner. They must only rely on their
balance, so players are not allowed to hold onto outside objects or
opposing players.
7. Once the music plays again, the players will fold their newspaper in half
and start dancing again.
8. This cycle will repeat until there is only one pair left in the game.
9. The last pair disqualified or the last pair still in the game wins.

Oreo Run

1.) This game will be done in 2 groups, having a minimum of 10 children per
group.
2.) A chair will be placed 10 meters from the starting line.
3.) Each child will run a lap around the chair with a cream-o on top of their
forehead.
4.) If the oreo falls, the child has to go back to the starting line and repeat.
5.) Once the child reaches back to the starting line, the child must pass the
oreo on to the next player without using his/her hands.
6.) This cycle will repeat until one group has completed the game.
7.) The fastest team wins.

D. Interview
This will be an interview with the mothers and the kids. The students will be
grouped into pairs to interview each mother while having snacks with them.
There will be sets of questions to be prepared for both mother and the kids.
Mothers
1.) Background Check (name, age, and occupation)
2.) Ano nga mga eksperinsya ang imo na agyan sa kabuhi nga nag pa bago
sang panulokan mo sa imo palibot? (What experiences have you had in
life that changed how you view your surroundings?)
3.) Paano mo bala na balanse gid ang responsibilidad bilang isa ka nanay
kag sa mga imo gid ya nga kagustohan? (How did you balance the
responsibilities of being a mother with your personal goals and hobbies?)
4.) Ano ang mga realisasyon mo pagkatapos mag bata? (What are your
realizations after giving birth?)
5.) Ano ma hatag mo nga advice o laygay nga gusto mo idalon niya asta
mag dako siya? (What advice/s can you give to your kids that they will be
able to bring as they get older?)

Kids
1.) Ano handom mo mag dako? (What is your dream when you grow up?)
2.) Ano mga gina pang ubra mo nga upod ginhikanan mo kung wala ka
kinahanglan tapuson nga ulubrahon? (What are some things you do with
your mom in your free time?)
3.) Paano ka gina hatagan inspirasyon sang imo nanay? (How does your
mom inspire you?)

E. Community Dance

● This activity will be done by everyone in the community.

● The dance steps will be modified for easy implementation.

F. Gift Giving
To ensure the provision of concrete and lasting assistance to the community,
especially the mothers and their families, the learners will provide 10 packs with
each pack containing:

● 2 ballpens
● 2 textbooks
● 2 packs of noodles
● 2 cans of sardines
● 2 tupperwares of rice
