Assalam Alaikum

Dear Parents,

In times of today when empathy seems missing from the world community service provides a
platform where students get the opportunity to give back, learn new skills and in the process
become empathic individuals. At Foundation Public School we encourage and help students in
becoming emotionally intelligent, we work on building the humanitarian skill set which results
in students becoming more compassionate, kind and responsible citizens.

Please find below the summer community service projects that we are offering at FPS OLDC in
the month of July 2024. Students are encouraged to choose the projects based on their interest

Appendix A

1. MMB Summer Camp

MMB school located in the slums (Kachi basti) near Punjab House, Clifton provides
education to the under privileged children in the area. This year students of FPS OLDC
will be arranging a summer camp for these students to help them learn through play.
The 5-day summer camp aims to give back to the community while instilling team
building, empathy, creativity amongst the volunteers.

2. About LRBT
Founded in 1984, LRBT is the largest provider of eye-care in Pakistan, and the only safety
net for the 26 million Blind and Visually Impaired (12% of the total population) in
Pakistan. What began as a mobile eye unit has evolved into a network of 19 hospitals,
and 61 clinics, with a 20th hospital under construction in Rahim Yar Khan. LRBT’s mission
echoes with the belief that no one, regardless of gender, age, or financial status, should
be robbed of their vision due to an inability to afford treatment: “No man, woman or
child should go blind just because he/she cannot afford the treatment”.

Students will be enrolled in the volunteer program being offered by LRBT, it will be held
at the LRBT Hospital, Korangi No. 2 ½, Karachi. The volunteers will get hands on
knowledge on eye health care and related issues, interact with patients and write patient
stories. Based on which they will make digital posters and create awareness through
social media. They will require to fundraise for cataract surgeries (donations/zakat
included).

3. Karigarz Community Cottage (KCC)

In this project students make handicrafts in school and sell them at different events. The
fund raised are used to support various community service projects. These products are
also donated within the community.
